Background of the issue:
I am trying to set up WPML on my site hidden link to start translating it. I have attempted to activate WPML Multilingual CMS, String Translation, and Contact Form 7 Multilingual.

Symptoms:
As soon as I activate WPML Multilingual CMS, String Translation, and Contact Form 7 Multilingual, my entire site breaks completely. I have deactivated them, and the site looks normal again.

Questions:
How can I activate WPML Multilingual CMS, String Translation, and Contact Form 7 Multilingual without breaking my site?
What steps should I follow to set up WPML correctly for site translation?

Hello,

Please check WPML > Support > PHP for the current memory usage of the site and compare this value to WPML > Support > WordPress > WP Memory Limit.

Do you see any issue about the limit?

It would also be very helpful if you could send us the WPML debugging information.
More information here:

Best regards
Andreas

Hello,
I cannot give you debug info or check the memory because as soon as I activate the plugins the site crashes and I can't have my site being broke until this is being fixed.

What I can do is to give you a temporary login to the admin pannel via this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/ so you can go in and take a look at what you need to look at.
I just need WPML to work. I've paid for it and i'll have to get my money back if you can't make it to work.

Please let me know what email I need to give access to and let's get this fixed 🙂

Hi,

I would like to offer to take a closer look and request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to the site to investigate the issue further.

The required fields are below the comment section when you log in to leave the next reply. The information you provide is private, meaning only you and I can see and access it.

IMPORTANT
Please be sure to back up the site and database before granting us access.

If you can't see the "wp-admin / FTP" fields, your post and site login details will be set to "PUBLIC". DO NOT publish the data unless you see the required wp-admin / FTP fields.

I may need to install a plugin called "All In One WP Migration" here to create a copy of the site that I can use to investigate the issue further.

However, I would also be very grateful if you could provide a staging site or copy of the website from your server for this purpose.

If you have any questions about creating such a staging site, you can consult your hosting provider. Please note that WPML must also be registered on this staging site at https://wpml.org/de/account/websites/.

If you are not able to provide such a copy of the website for testing, please let me know on this ticket.

The private reply form looks like this:

The next time you reply, click on "I still need assistance".

Please note that we are obliged to request this information individually on each ticket. We are not allowed to access any credentials that were not specifically submitted on this ticket in the private response form.

Best regards
Andreas

Take kindly note, that you always should make sure if an issue persists while testing with the latest available version of all involved components (WordPress, Theme, Plugins).

Could you please first run all available plugin updates and then try to enable WPML?

If the issue persists, please let me know.

Hey, just updated everything and when I activated both WPML plugins the site crashes exactly in the same way as before - I activated WPML Multilingual CMS and WPML String Translation. I have deactivated them again now but feel free to activate them again if you need to examine the issue while why are active

Hello,

Please take kindly note that I do not work on Sundays and Mondays.

In the meantime, you could take the following test:

It seems there is a conflict between WPML and another plugin or the theme you are using.

Could you please create a staging of the site and try running the site with minimal setup to see if the issue persists?

1) Disable all plugins and enable WPML Multilingual CMS and WPML String Translation.

2) If the issue goes away, start by reactivating the plugins one at a time, or activate them in small groups. This way, check where the issue reoccurs to see the plugin that is causing the issue.

3) If this has not resolved the cause of the issue, please switch to a standard theme such as Twenty Twenty-One to see if the issue may be related to the theme.

Once we have identified the cause, we can then try replicating the issue and then escalate it internally. I will provide a test site with WPML in this case.

IMPORTANT:
Please let me know the results of your test or if you are unable to set up a copy of your website and run the test.

I will be happy to help you on Tuesday.

Best regards
Andreas

Could you please update "WPBakery Page Builder" and "Slider Revolution" to the latest available versions and then confirm if the issue persists?

Hey,
I've deleted slider revolution because we didn't use it for anything anyway and i've updated the WPBakery but the issue is still there

I have now completed the WPML Setup Wizard and translated the Header and Footer.

This solved the issue.

I am currently sadly not able to reach your site:
ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

I translated Header and Footer with the WPML Translation Editor.

You can find the translation in the admin dashboard sections for "Header" and "Footer". If you revise the WPML Translation status icon you can see it shows a pencil, which means that the translations are completed.

To set up different domains per language, you will need to go to WPML > Languages > Language URL format, enable "A different domain per language" and enter the domain for the English site.

well, i can't access it too. This can only be because of your plugin. It worked perfectly before we added it.
I've contacted my hosting provider now so they can hopefully revert the site to what it was yesterday.

WPML has been a F*king waste of money and time. If you can't make the plugin work for more than a few hours, please let me know so I can get my money back and we both stop wasting our time

I apologise. my hosting provider is experiencing issues and they are trying to solve them now. I will get back to you once the site is live again
