If you use DeepL for automatic translation, you can choose the level of formality of your translations.
For certain languages, DeepL offers formal and informal translation settings. Aside from Russian, WPML supports this feature for all the languages listed by DeepL.
You can choose whether you prefer a formal or informal tone of voice for your translations. The default is an Automatic setting, which means DeepL tries to determine which tone would be best based on their own algorithm.
To choose a formal or informal tone of voice:
- Go to WPML → Settings and scroll down to the Automatic translation section.
- Under Which translation engines do you want to use? locate DeepL.
- Next to DeepL, choose if you want to use the Informal, Formal, or Automatic setting.
