I am trying to: Change the translation settings for an ACF group of fields but the translation setting are overritten when the Multilingual setup are changed in the ACF Edit Field Group is changed
I just want to add that we are investigating the settings because our client is saying that field content is disappearing from time to time in the translated pages. We want to make sure the settings are properly done. This is when we saw this problem on a staging site created to investigate the problem.
I understand that when you change the Multilingual Setup for an ACF Field Group, the translation settings for the custom fields change.
If that's not correct, please provide me with more details so that I can understand the issue 🙂
If that's correct, changing this option for your existing field groups is not recommended, but you can choose any option you’d like for any new field groups you create.

Hi Ahmed, I think you got it right. In the edit Field Group in the section Multilingual setup, if I change from Expert to Same fields across languages, then the translation setup of the individual fields changes to something I didn't choose.
In theory the fields should be the same in French and English, but some should be translated, some copied. So logically (to me), I was trying to change to Same fields across languages but doing so would change the translation settings.

In the Same fields across languages or Different fields across languages translation options, the translation preferences of your custom fields are pre-set for you.
So, to control the translation preferences for the fields in the field group, you need to select the Expert mode.
