Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate a text block with links on my website. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link. it´s also happening on another website > hidden link

Symptoms:
Instead of a normal paragraph, I got a broken paragraph with breaklines added before and after links in the translated text.

Questions:
Why are breaklines appearing before and after links in the translated text?
How can I fix the broken paragraph issue in the translated text?

Hi, and thanks for the access details.

I could see this issue on your site. Furthermore, I was also able to replicate it on my test site. The problem occurs when there are nested inline HTML tags. In your case, it is a < a > tag nested within a < strong > tag. Apparently, this issue has already been reported to us and has been escalated to our developers, who will fix it in an upcoming version of WPML's Advanced Translation Editor. We'll keep you updated here when the version with the fix is released.

I appreciate your patience.
Itamar.

Hi,

Our developers fixed the issue in WPML's Advanced Translation Editor. You should go to WPML -> Translation Dashboard and resend the translation jobs with this problem for translation, and it will resolve the issue. The Advanced Translation Editor memory should be applied, and you will not need to use automatic translation credits.

If that works, please mark this ticket as resolved.

Thanks,
Itamar.

Hi Itamar
Thanks for the workaround. I´m not familiar with sending jobs through the translation manager. Can you please give me more details?

I´ve sent the "Tantra vs. Kama Sutra: " page to translation and then this screen with options displays:

1)"Apply to languages" (translate automatically?)
2) "Some of the content you want to translate is already translated"
3) "What would you like to do when WPML finishes translating your content automatically?"

What options should I select?

And, is this workaround just to fix these particular issues? Or will I have to do it with all the new pages I translate in the future?

Hi,

You wrote: "Thanks for the workaround. I´m not familiar with sending jobs through the translation manager."

If you are used to translating the content yourself directly from WordPress's editing screen, then you can simply press the pencil icon in the Language section and redeliver the translation.

Did you use this way in the past to translate the content on your site?

You asked: "What options should I select?"

If you would like to use the Translation Dashboard to send translations.
1)Then, for "Apply to languages," choose "Translate myself" if you translated the content yourself. Or "Assign a translator" if you want another local translator to translate the content.

2) For "Some of the content you want to translate is already translated," you should choose "Leave existing translations as they are". This way, the old translations will be preserved.

3) For "What would you like to do when WPML finishes translating your content automatically?" This is only relevant if you translated your content automatically, which does not seem to be the case. But if you did translate it automatically, then you can choose any of the options. I assume you are already content with the translation, so choosing "Publish and mark for review" is a good option.

Please review our Translation Dashboard guide: https://wpml.org/how-to/translation-dashboard/

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards,
Itamar.
