[Resolved] Edit Translation in Albanian Language stuck in progress
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client was experiencing an issue where translations from Italian to Albanian were stuck in 'in progress' status, despite the translation progress bar showing 100%. This problem did not occur when translating from Italian to English. Solution: The client resolved the issue by taking the following steps: 1. Removed the WPB Popup for CF7 plugin, which was identified as the main cause of the problem, with alternative plugins. 2. Increased all the server limits in the php.ini file.
If you're experiencing similar issues, we recommend trying the above steps. However, if this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, please check the related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verify the version of the permanent fix, and confirm that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, we highly recommend opening a new support ticket at WPML support forum for further assistance.
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
Symptoms:
Translations will stay 'in progress' status, even if the translations have been made. This hasn't happened when I translate from Italian to English version. The progress bar is 100%.
Questions:
Why are my translations from Italian to Albanian stuck in 'in progress' status?
How can I resolve the issue of translations being stuck even when the progress bar is at 100%?
I can see that the backup also contained the issue with duplicated pages, more than a thousand pages were in the trash.
- I emptied the trash but there were more than a thousand pages still under "published" but they weren't assigned to any language.
- I ran a troubleshooting option to set language information and now they're all under Italian.
- I'm not sure the issue is linked to WPML because those pages weren't assigned to any language (exactly how it is when WPML is not installed).
I'll try to get rid of those duplicates and see if sending the pages back to translation resolves the issue or if it actually generates more duplicates. I'll get back to you in a moment.
- I cleaned up and deleted all duplicated pages.
- I re-ran the troubleshooting option to make sure that all pages had a language set
- Then opened the Albanian translation for one of the page and completed it
Result: your pages got duplicated again, you have now 275 pages in Italian.
I'd like to get your permission to download a copy of your site in order to escalate the ticket to second tier support.
For this, I'll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content.
Hello, yes i can see those pages created automatically when we try to fix something in WPML, those pages dont have content only blank pages with title.
Yes please you have my premission.
Need to let you know that my website is more than 250mb, i dont know if free version of duplicator can support it.
Anyway im installing it now.
This is ok for us, as long as this strange error will get fixed.
I was able to create a Duplicator package by excluding the wp-content/uploads and wp-content/cache folder and also all types of medias and archives. I'm downloading the copy right now and will install it on our servers to perform some tests and checks on your database.
If I can't find the issue, I will escalated it to the second tier support.
I was able to find the culprit by testing the site in minimal setup.
- Disable any additional plugin that is not related to WPML and its add-ons and switch to a default theme like 2020.
- I reactivated your theme (that was not the issue)
- Then I started reactivating the plugins in small groups of 4. This way I was able to identify the plugin that is causing the issue: "WPB Popup for Contact Form 7"
Here is a video in two part where I explain the testing process:

2: hidden link
I'm not sure that our second tier team will be able to provide a solution here. But I will still escalate your ticket and let you know as soon as I have their feedback.
For the time being I would recommend you to disable this plugin and look for an alternative.
Just a quick message to let you know that I couldn't reproduce the issue on a testing build from scratch.
On the local copy (from your site):
Theme - Hello Elementor
Plugins - Contact Form 7, Contact Form 7 Multilingual, Elementor, WPML, String Translation, and if I activate WPB Popup for Contact Form 7 I have the issue.
On the sandbox site:
Theme - Hello Elementor
Plugins - Contact Form 7, Contact Form 7 Multilingual, Elementor, WPML, String Translation and WPB Popup for Contact Form 7 activated with no issue.
Same WPML options and languages
I even created a Contact form, selected it in the Popup plugin and added the custom Elementor widget in a page. No issue.
I think it could be rather a site-specific issue. So I escalated the ticket to another team. I'll keep you posted.
Thank you for all the replies, i've followed all the instructions, also have created a test staging site to check for error or conflict plugins. I will keep you updated for further investigations.
Thanks for the support,
Hope it will be fixed soon!
I'm pleased to inform you that the issue has been resolved. I followed some of your suggestions and took the following steps:
1. Removed Contact Form 7 and all its related add-ons.
2. Replaced the WBP Popup for CF7 plugin, which I believe was the main cause of the problem, with alternative plugins.
3. Increased all the server limits in the php.ini file.
As a result, my problem is now solved. I wanted to let you know that I'm closing this ticket.
Thank you very much for your support and assistance throughout this process. Your guidance was invaluable in helping me resolve the issue.
