This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client encountered an issue with strings that are indicated as Italian but are actually in English, coming from the Theme.
Solution:
We advised the client that plugins and themes typically use English as the default language for strings. If the incorrect strings are not visible on the frontend, they can be ignored. However, to change the source language of a string or string domain, we recommended navigating to WPML >> String Translation. We provided a step-by-step guide on how to change the source language of strings, which can be found in our documentation:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/how-to-change-the-source-language-of-strings/

Please note that the solution provided might be irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your specific case. If the issue persists, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If you still need assistance, please open a new support ticket with us.

Hello,

Another anomaly that I encounter is the translation of some Strings, which are indicated as Italian but are in English. these come from the Theme.
Is there a way to force it and tell him that they are in English?

Hello,

Welcome to the WPML support forum. I will do my best to help you to resolve the issue.

In most cases, plugins and themes use English as the default language for the strings. As per the screenshot, those strings are coming from an Elementor template or widget. You can ignore it if it is not showing in the frontend.

But we can always change the source language of a string or string domain from WPML>>String Translation. Please check this article for more details and let us know your feedback - https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/how-to-change-the-source-language-of-strings/

Hello,
the theme has the base language in English.
However those strings are saved in Italian.
But if I try to edit them as per the guide, it doesn't seem possible, the English remains disabled.

Thank you

Hello,
I solved. The change was not activated by the buttons below.
Using "domain languages" at the top instead worked.
Thank you
