I just migrated my WordPress installation to a new host and i have a tab that says "WPML detected a new address for this site" and i have to pick between two options.
The way the migration has been done is :
- An empty installation was created on the new host with a dummy domain (ex: qfsqd.hosting.com)
- My websites wordpress installation was migrated on the dummy domain with the fresh installation
- I pointed my domain name to the migrated installation on the new hosting and replaced the dummy domain
So WPML detected a new domain after migration due to the dummy domain name, but as i've now pointed my actual domain to the wordpress installation, i'm not sure what to pick between the two options :
Yes : this is only a copy - original site is still running
No : i changed the address of the site to this new one
Both of these don't really match the situation.
I would appreciate your help to get past this tab and continue using WPML without it causing any issues.
I want to mention that i choose the Option "No, i changed the address..." as it was to the same domain (from mydomain.com to mydomain.com) and i figured it wouldn't change anything.
Here is a small tutorial on how to use Duplicator: hidden link
This should perfectly migrate your website maintaining the exact same setup and also taking care of the search and replace process so that the old links will be overwritten with the new URLs of the new domain you are migrating to (in case you are also changing the domain and not only the server).
I use only Duplicator each time I want to migrate WP websites. They also have a premium version but if you don't have a huge website with a huge database, the free version should work fine.
Also, if you selected "No", things should work fine on the newly migrated site.
