This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client was experiencing issues with translating a WooCommerce composite product into Italian using WPML. The translation process was not functioning correctly, sometimes affecting the default English product as well. Specifically, when scenarios were added to composite products, the component dropdown options were not displaying correctly in the Italian version, though they worked fine in English.

Solution:
We advised the client to ensure that all plugins were up to date and to use the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) for translating products. It was important to translate using ATE rather than the WordPress Editor to avoid issues with saving changes and to ensure the translation process was handled correctly by WPML. We also suggested translating the products step-by-step using ATE and checking if the issue persisted. If problems continued, we recommended deactivating the WPML plugins temporarily to verify if the issue was indeed related to WPML or if it was an issue with the WooCommerce Composite Products plugin.

Please note that this solution might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket here.

Hi Mario,

The 'WooCommerce Multilingual & Multicurrency' plugin IS deactivated, could you explain what you mean by: "I can't deactivated 'WooCommerce Multilingual & Multicurrency' plugin"?

This plugin is necessary to work with Woocommerce and WPML, I don't understand why is not active, and that's what I need to understand.

Hi Carlos,

Ohh sorry, By mistake I wrote "can't"...

I mean to say I haven't deactivated it...
Might be during the debugging time it was deactivated.

I have just activated it now, you can check now & let me know if you need anything else from my side to understand.

Thanks

Hi Mario,
Thank you for the clarification.

I watched this video again: hidden link and double-check the configuration of the test product created by my colleague: hidden link

I can see in the video that you are using the WordPress Editor to translate the product in Italian, however, the Translation Editor is enabled and is the way that must be used to translate the products. To show you an example, when you edit the test product: hidden link in English (default language) and click on the translation icon you will see the ATE (Advanced Translation Editor) interface and it is the correct way to translate the products based on the configuration of your site.

Another issue I spotted in your video is that when you try to save the changes in the Italian version of the product using the WordPress Editor the changes are not saved because there is a problem with the SKU of the product. You can see the error message at the top after saving it.

Please translate the product using ATE and double-check if the issue disappeared.

Carlos, ATE is the translation using credits?
Because we finished the credits and moved forward translated step by step.

Do you mean that WPML translator works properly only if you buy credits...?
Otherwise doesn't work?

Please let me know.

many thanks,

Kind regards,

Hi Mario,

You can translate the content using ATE without using the translation credits. The translation credits are only needed when you use automatic translation, but if you manually translate your content using ATE then you don't need translation credits.

Hi Carlos,

Many thanks for clarifications. If you could tell me where find and activate I can do I trial.

A couple of questions:
1-In which site should we make the translation? The original or the staging?
2-About the procedure: translate a new product? And if we found is there the issue, what should we do with the products already translated?

Waiting for your kind feedback.

Many thanks,

Kind Regards,

Mario Garsi

Hi Mario,

To activate ATE you must follow the steps described in this guide: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/

1.- I recommend activating ATE in the staging site first so you can run all the tests you need without affecting the production site.

2.- With the products already translated you will have to activate ATE and probably re-translate part of the product.

Hi Carlos,

now that i see I can tell you that this was the way i was personally translating the product into the real website. And we faced the issue into this, before contacting WPML support for fixing.
So, I can tell you right now, translating using the ATE is not removing the misbehaviour we are facing.

So far, Osama and you asked are to check many things to try to understand where we made mistakes.
And more than 2 weeks are gone and we are stuck into this problem and we can't put website live.
May I ask you what have you done to patch,a mend and fix the issue we are showing you so far?

Because all the guessing, questions and remarks you said to us have carried to no patch fixing. And time is flying and we would like to buy again the license (expiring the 31st of January 2025), but it has to work.

Waiting for your kind feedback about the fixing strategies you have done and going to do to fix asap this bug.

Many thanks,

Kind Regards,

Mario Garsi

Hi Mario,

What happened is that when I translated the test product using ATE the issue disappeared. That's why I'm asking you to translate the products with ATE

Which Part number did you translate with ATE?
And where? Into staging, I guess

I translated hidden link using ATE.

It is already explained in this comment: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/i-need-a-help-in-my-site-im-facing-issue-while-translating-the-woocomerce-product/page/3/#post-16587644

Hi Carlos.
I made a brand new Composite product, Paperino: hidden link

This has nr.3 Variable products inside:
Pippo Var.3: hidden link

Pippo Var.1: hidden link

Pippo Var.2: hidden link

I put a scenario, that based on Pippo Var.3 option, hide either Pippo Va.1 or Pippo var.2.
And in English seems to be working.

I transated with ATE interface before each variable product (Pippo Var.1, Pippo Var.2 and Pippo var.3) and at the end Paperino.

And it seems it works also in Italian.

I'm still doubtful it is this the root cause but it seems it works.

Going into the official website, please tell us what to do as general rules (how to keep always ATE active, automatic translate activating paying WPML fees or anything else), and what to do with the products that don't work, and how to check and find out which products are not working and how tofix them.

Waiting for your kind and prompt feedback.

many thanks,

Kind regards,

Mario Garsi

Hi Mario,

I have created this video: hidden link describing the steps you need to follow in the production site to make sure all products are translated with ATE (Advanced Translation Editor) and I also described the steps to activate the automatic translation so it will be easier and faster to have all the products translated.

Best regards,
Carlos
