This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client is experiencing issues with translating links in ATE (Advanced Translation Editor) where the link translation does not save and defaults to the current page. This issue persists despite following previous support advice, including updating plugins and themes, making minor changes to the original page, and using the 'Translate Link Targets' feature.
Solution: We recommend maintaining consistency in the editing tool used for translations to avoid synchronization issues. If you start translating with ATE, continue using ATE for all subsequent edits and updates. Conversely, if the initial translation was done directly on the site using a page builder or WordPress editor, continue using that method. Always make changes in the default language first, then use ATE to update the translation. Avoid mixing editors as it leads to failed synchronization and potential loss of translations. If you edited the translation directly on your site and then tried to edit it in ATE, ATE would not recognize your changes, leading to overwriting when ATE syncs back to your site.

I am trying to login to the test site but after submitting the login form, it redirects back to the home page (hidden link). I've tried adding WP admin URL after that but still forces me back to the home page.
Can you please check on your end and probably disable any security/firewall plugin?
Thank you for the updates, I was able to login and check.
At first, I noticed that the link to PDF in "Medical Statement" in Pedi Rescue Diver page in German (hidden link) was pointing to the English version. So I just clicked "Edit Translation" and in ATE it was showing the correct German PDF links (see attached).
After only clicking, "Save" for that part of translation, I clicked complete translation and then checked the German page again. It is referring to the German PDF (see the other screenshot attached).
I then tried to observe more about the issue but apparently it seems to work fine. I also checked and discussed in lines of "deleting the section and rebuilding". But unfortunately there's no apparent way of preventing it and fixing it, other than to rebuild it.
The only logical reason and as I've observed so far working with Divi, the builder uses real time updates with inline scripts and AJAX operations. There are chances that an operation breaks, not finished properly and/or was interfered, it may have false positives. This can visually say the content is properly saved and looking fine, but may have actually corrupted database reference. Although this doesn't happen so often, if it does then this is really a problem - otherwise we get things like we're trying to deal with now here and there (i.e. no apparent reason or no logical pattern).
I also noticed that several active plugins need an update. Same is the case with the Divi parent theme (although just a minor version behind). This can also cause such issues. We never know, the one you updated, now has conflict with another which hasn't been updated yet - this is like a big ecosystem sharing the same playground.
In short, as I explained previously that a correct workflow is important to keep things running smoothly - specially when there are more hands and eyes working on the same system. Other than this, I'll recommend keeping active plugins and themes up-to-date.
For such sections which you see are really problematic, I can only recommend rebuilding. Because unfortunately I really can't find anything on ATE side which I may link to such problem for a proper fix.
I'll request to update plugins and themes, take some time to fix these sections once, adopt the strict/proper workflow and keep it under observation for some time. So if it starts happening frequently again, you'll be able to find a pattern or the reason, or at-least be sure that nothing went sideways in your process. And of course, we'd love to help and investigate.
Again thank you for being thorough in your investigations and conclusion which kind of matches with my own.
With regards to plug in updates, they were all up to date at the beginning of this support ticket... that's how long it has been 🙂
Besides the updates which I will now commence, I shall discuss a rebuild process with the other developer and get to work on it.
This should take us at least a few weeks so I will close this thread and start a new one referencing this, if after incorporating a strict workflow after rebuild, we experience any similar issue.
