Hello,

After the last update of WPML Multilingual CMS and WPML String Translation, Language URL format doesn't works in "Different languages in directories" mode any more. Even after repeatedly resaving the permalinks.

Every time I try to go on French, Russian, etc. and then go to the any link, I got the message:

"Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.... Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

But the "Language name added as a parameter" mode still works, so right now I work using this mode.

Please, help.

As I found out, this problem was caused by some conflict between your plugins and the latest version of Google XML Sitemaps.

Now I have Google XML Sitemaps deactivated and the site works fine in "Different languages in directories" mode, but this is unacceptable. We need the Google XML Sitemaps plugin active.

Hope you can help us with that.
Please, let me know if you need any additional information.

Hi there

I have tried to reproduce the problem on my own test site but cannot. I expect there are some more details that are required to isolate the cause of the issue.

First, you said that there were errors; did you check your debug.log to see the details of the errors? If you could please share those.

Next, you have isolated the conflict to the XML Sitemaps plugin. Does the error occur if you have only WPML and the XML Sitemaps plugins active, with all other plugins disabled, and when you switch to a default theme such as twentytwentyone? If not, that suggests that something else is also required to trigger the error, which it should be possible to determine by a process of elimination.

Let me know what you find.

Hello, I join this conversation to add my experience. I have the very same issue, on a custom theme, since latest update, I have the same behavior on my website. Reading davidG-36, I realized I had Google XML Sitemaps activated, since I deactivated it, the problem doesn't appear anymore.

@davidG-36 : If you have Yoast SEO plugin on your website, it has a sitemap too (hidden link)
