We previously used Gtranslate Language Hosting, but are now switching to WPML. We use the WPML Multilingual CMS with the automatic Pay-As-You-Go translation. The translations should be on separate domains, which we already own. Our WordPress site is hosted in German on a managed server (www.betterwood.de). The foreign language domain (www.betterwood.pl) is hosted on a different hosting. We have access to the DNS settings of both domains. Both domains have an SSL certificate.
Greetings and welcome to WPML support. I am delighted to assist you with your query.
For the most accurate information regarding this matter, I recommend reaching out directly to your hosting provider. They may have specific configurations related to it.
I would kindly advise you to get in touch with them and inquire about the correctness of the settings. Specifically, you can request guidance on how to enable the option for "Displaying identical content in two domains without any redirects."
To verify this functionality, I propose temporarily disabling WPML. With WPML disabled, both domains should showcase the same content without any redirections. If this scenario aligns with your expectations, you can subsequently reactivate WPML and continue using different domains seamlessly.
Our hosting provider was able to make the setting so that the content of hidden link now appears under hidden link (via web alias). However, only "www.betterwood.pl" appears under each URL and not the URL of the subpage.
Will this be corrected by activating the WPML plugin or is it a basic feature of the Web Alias that no URLs of the subpages are specified?
Unfortunately that didn't work out. We have deactivated Gtranslate and activated WPML. However, WPML marked the domain hidden link, where we set up the web alias, as invalid.
Is there an alternative to the web alias? A-Record does not work either.
We currently have numerous duplicates of our posts on the site and WPML doesn't seem to be working for us so far. I would like to remove these duplications but have the translations available again if there is a solution to our problem. If I delete the WPML plugins (they are currently only deactivated) - will all the translations disappear? And can they be reactivated if I reinstall the plugin? We have spent almost 700 USD on translations so far and I would hate to lose them.
For your new issues, I suggest you to open a new chat/ticket.
Regarding the domain, To debug this issue further, I would need to check your site settings once, for this I would need temporary access (wp-admin and ftp) to your site.
So could you please provide me with those details, you will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. hidden link
