Hi. The default language of my website is Dutch. In the english translation some links link to Dutch instead of English. The issue only seems to occur for non-dynamically generated links.

I already tried the "translate link target" button in the WPML settings, but it didn't help. Please advise.

Hi there,

Thanks for contacting WPML support.

Please refer to this article https://wpml.org/announcements/2020/02/translating-links-with-advanced-translation-editor/ that explains a method that would allow you to translate links directly using the "Advanced Translation Editor". Could you check and give it a try?

Thanks!

Kor

Hi Kor, these are internal links, not external ones. Dynamic links work correctly, they always direct to the correct language. But for some reason not non-dynamically set links.

I am planning on setting the english language to another url (default language is on a .nl and the english will be on a .com) so I can't really use the method you suggested, given that it means I will have to re-do all links each time I push a new version live from a staging area. That is just asking for trouble 🙂

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply.

I would need to take a closer look at your site. So I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible in order to be of better help and check if some configurations might need to be changed

IMPORTANT: Please, note, a backup is required for security reasons, and to avoid any data loss, you can use the https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/plugin for these backup needs.

Your following answer will be private, which means only you and I have access to it.

✙ I would need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme and to change configurations on the site if required. This is also a reason the backup is critical.

Thanks!

Kor
