I've purchased WPML for a client website:
hidden link

They want to now have a subsite, but re-use most of the content from that main site, News, sections, etc...

So I'm trying to setup a Multisite wordpress, and use this plugin:
hidden link

However when I "crosspost" any posts the posts lose connection to WPML so I can no longer see the posts in english or spanish, is there anything I can do to fix the posts?

is there a better way of doing a multisite?

Hello,

since the subsite is a different unique site, there could be issues:

1) Please go to WPML > Support > Troubleshooting > Clean up and click to run next:

- Clear the cache in WPML
- Remove ghost entries
- Fix element_type collation
- Set language information
- Fix post type assignment

2) Reset WPML and re-configure it, so language information are set and then connect or set them manually as a translation of each other.

3) Export / Import pages via WP All import and our addon for it.

Hope this helps, let me know if any other questions.

Regards,
Drazen

I have hundreds of posts and pages that need to be re-connected with each other and the only apparent way is to go in each one one at the time, set the language and then connect to the other page. Is there a way to do this quicker?

If I use WP All import, will all posts keep their connections?

Hi there,

Yes, if the translated posts lost connections and if the options suggested by Drazen in the previous reply do not work then the only proper way to re-connect them is to connect the posts manually by going through them, yes!

Regarding WP All import, yes exporting or importing the posts from the site if you follow our documentation linked next, should not cause posts to get detached from their translations.

https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-all-import-plugin-website-import-with-wpml/

Now, regarding the multisite and WPML please note that WPML supports Multisite however it is not possible to use different subsites as sites for different languages and connect the posts together as translations because WPML treats each subsite in a multisite as a separate site, as explained in the next link:

https://wpml.org/documentation/support/multisite-support/

I hope this helps, let me know if you have further queries regarding this issue.

Regards,
Subash

Hi there,

Can you please let me know if you followed the documentation for exporting/importing data with WP All Import and WPML linked next:

https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-all-import-plugin-website-import-with-wpml/

Please let me know the exact steps you followed to export and import the data between the sites so that I can better undertand the issue.

Also, please note, that we try to handle only one issue per ticket so as to keep better track of the issues. Since the original ticket was about the Simple Multisite Crossposting plugin, please let me know if you need further help with the WPML All Import plugin and I can split the issue into a new ticket for you.

Regards,
Subash
