I have a website with WPML translated into 3 languages. I created a custom post type, and for each language, I separately created a parent category named "blog" (WP automatically added "-pl" to the URL, which I removed from the database as recommended on the forum). For each language version, all posts are displayed without any problem under URLs like: mysite.com/blog, mysite.com/pl/blog, etc.
Additionally, I created separate subcategories for each language that do not have counterparts in the other language versions. For example, mysite.com/blog/cars, mysite.com/pl/blog/bikes. The problem is that when I save the permalink settings in WordPress for a chosen language, I can easily display posts from the subcategory on my website, but only in the language version for which I saved the permalink settings. In the other language versions, it doesn't work. If I save the permalink settings in the Polish (PL) version of my site, the subcategory in the English (EN) version stops working (subcategories are created separately and are not linked).
I have already tried to uninstall the plugin for custom post permalinks and Yoast, but it didn't change anything.
I would be grateful for a hint on whether WPML could have any influence on this issue.
Please note that for WordPress -> Settings -> Permalinks, there is only one version of the permalink settings, not different versions for different languages.
So switching to another language and saving 'll have no multilingual impact!
Theme and plugin authors are welcome to join WPML’s Go Global program, which helps them make their code multilingual ready. Together with WPML’s compatibility team, they can test and confirm that their theme or plugin works with WPML. See https://wpml.org/documentation/support/go-global-program/ for details and you can refer your theme/plugin provider to this as well.
Regards.
