This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client reported issues with WPML where languages were mixing on their website's English and Danish versions. Specifically, Danish links were appearing in English pages, and updates to translated versions were reverting to old content. Additionally, the client noted that the 'Edit Translation' page appeared differently after an update. Solution: We identified a bug related to the theme's compatibility with WPML. We recommended a workaround involving a modification in the theme's code. The client should locate the file at
if (!empty(self::$translations)) { ThemifyBuilder_Data_Manager::save_data( $builder_data, $translated_post_id ); }
. This change prevents the system from updating the front page automatically with incorrect language data.
If this solution does not resolve the issue or seems irrelevant due to updates or different circumstances, we recommend opening a new support ticket. Additionally, it's advisable to check related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verify the version of the permanent fix, and confirm that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Yes, I can see, that I can edit backend on the staging site.
I need your help to get through the proces on my main site - step by step, so I dot it correctly.
The other issues still persist though. On the front page, wmpl still mixes languages on the English and Danish version, put Danish links into them - some places, and updates the translated versions with old content as well. As I described in my ticket at the beginning.
It is very importnant, that WMPL don't update the frontpage automatically. I have that the issue a couple of times before, where your colleguaes have looked at it and solved it. Maybe you can see it in my last couple of tickets?
Also there are posts on the English versions, which is translated correctly, but again languages are mixed. When I look at the translation, everything are translated correctly, but not shown. I have found it in theese two posts:
hidden link
In this post the headline and introductory text is in English, but the rest is in Danish
Also this one hidden link
In this post the introducting is in Danish and the rest is in English. And again all in english if I look at the translated version backend.
So I need you to take a look at this too. There might be other posts - also in Spanish. I haven't been through them all.
After your opdate the page with Edit Tranlation looks very different from what it normally do. Have you changed it in WMPL or?
1) I have published the Danish version of the frontpage and translated it manually and edit manually on the Spanish and English version. The persons from the support I have spoken to earlier told me, that they have set the page so it wouldn't be overwritten when I update the Danish version. It have worked fine until recently. Then it startet mixing content in lanugages and links again. I don't know if the issue with the plugin have to do with it.
2) The posts I have mentioned, where I found mixed language are translated correctly and have been shown correctly until now. Suddenly the languages is mixed. When I look at the translation editor all is translated but it is not shown. Here are some examples
hidden link
In this the first txt after the headline is in Danish and it should have been in English
In this example the Headline and the intro txt are translated. The rest is in Danish hidden link
There might be other posts. I haven't been through them all. So they have been corretly shown earlier, but suddenly changed without I have edit the Danish version or the translated
if you have made changes to 2nd language (en) manually by editing the page and added your content like that, then it is expected to have this issue, since we do not recommend mixing methods.
If you are to use manual approach you need to switch to WordPress editor from default language page.
I have set the page as it says in the documentation, it has been set like that since some of your collegues has helped me witth the issue before. It worked for several months, but suddenly it switched again. It didn't even copied from the Danish version of the page, but put old images and links into the layout.
You can see the settings at the screen shot.
So I am stille confused about it and how to solve it?
So the solution is to keep WordPress editor switch if you are going do do translation manual, otherwise you can have issue with content being overwritten.
I am not sure for frontage do you have same issue, if you do, please make sure to do the switch and adjust the translated page accordingly.
I do have the same issue on the front page, even though the Word Press editor is switched on - and it has been all the time. I did that months ago, when another supporter told me to do so. As I wrote earlier, it has worked for a long time, but now is doesn't work anymore. It keeps mixing the links and languages.
The issues doen't appear when I edit the page or link in second language. After I have done that, everything works fine.
The strange thing about this issue, it that it appears out of the blue after days, weeks, months. Suddenly the front page is a mix og languages, layout parts and txt without I have edited anything. So it seems to live its own life.
This time, I haven't had problems for months. But out of the blue it changed. So it doesn't help, that I send you a video. Because it works fine, when I edit. I happens for some reason out of the blue.
I understand, best would be to keep track and see if any steps or specific causes problem, since it would be difficult for me to check and debug issue if we do not know how it happens, or do not have any steps to reproduce it.
You can also enable WordPress revisions, so you can easily revert to correct page version:
So it actually just happened, that the translated pages ended up mixed again.
What I did:
1) I edited a layout part in the Danish version in Themify builder frontend. A part I only want on the Danish version of the page.
2) The English and Spanish version updated automatically to old layout parts (and not the one I just edited) and mixed links and language
I could only ad one screen shot so here are the rest.
1. Here is what I do after checking correct settings backend. I edit in builder frontend.
2: Here is the results on the translated page. A layout part I did not edit and which is old and outdated shows up together with mixed language and Danish link
Here you have a video of what I have done while editing the Danish version. And it is set to wordpress editor backend
