This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: When attempting to translate the homepage, not all text or items are available for translation. Solution: If you're experiencing an issue where not all text or items on your homepage are available for translation, it's important to check if the page is marked as a duplicate. If so, you need to make it independent for translation. Here's how you can do it: 1. Open the translated homepage in the WordPress Editor. 2. Click on "Translate independently" in the right sidebar to change the page from a duplicate to a translation. If you plan to translate the content with the WPML Translation Editor, make sure to revise the right sidebar of the WordPress Editor on the original content. Check for the section "Language" and determine the "WPML Translation Editor" as the translation method. Next, you should open the Advanced Translation Editor and ensure that the translation is completed to 100%. If the translation is not fully completed, the content may not appear as expected. Please complete the translation to 100% using the Advanced Translation Editor.
Keep in mind that this solution might not apply to your case if it's outdated or not relevant to your specific issue. If after following these steps you still encounter problems, we highly recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket with us.

Take note, that you marked your translated homepage as duplicate, which means that the translation is getting overwritten with the original content anytime the original content is getting updated.
You need to open the translated homepage on the WordPress Editor and click "Translate independently" inside the right sidebar to convert the duplicate into a translation.
I did this already now.
After that, I opened the Advanced Translation Editor, and the translation was only completed to 28%.
When translating content for the first time, you need to complete the translation to 100% for the translated content to show up.
Please complete the translation to 100% now using the Advanced Translation Editor and let me know after that if you spot any issues.
Thanks for looking into this. I don't actually have the translations yet. I'm waiting on my client. I think they want to get the content auto translated.
If I get my client to get a wpml account and purchase translation tokens, can i replace the key on the site with the key on her account. They can then control the translations in the future.

Hello Jon,
Yes, the site can use a different wpml.org site key to get updates and use credits for automatic translation.
We offer pre-purchased credits for automatic translation or a subscription model, called "Pay-As-You-Go" with which you translate first and then pay the amount of used credits in the next month.

Thank you for your message!
I would like to offer to have a closer look into this issue, but it seems as if my user account has longer the rights of an admin and I am not able to access the backend of the site.
Please change the user role of the account to "admin" and leave me a comment on this ticket, once the changes have been applied.
