I have several websites already using WPML.
I started adding it to my older website yesterday: ZigZagonearth. This time, instead of doing everything automatic, I choose what I want to translate. This is the only difference with my other websites.

However, the media translation is not working.
I have added the images in the media translation tab as usual
but when I published the translated article in Dutch, the English pictures stills shows, it does not replace with the Dutch translated media.

Hi again
So I added the code and updated the plugins.
When I created a new post and translated, it worked.
How do I make it work for articles that are published already?
Thanks

Hello There,
I hope you're doing well.

I checked the entire conversation you had with my colleague Noman and understood the issue.

Since the translated Image appeared properly in the new post, perhaps updating the translation of the previously published post might fix the issue. Please follow the steps below.

- Open the default post and make a small change in the title.
- Save the changes and update the translation of the post.
- Clear the caches from the site and check the translated post.

Please let me know if that helps or if you need further assistance. I will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Hi
The articles are not translated yet.
We got our 500 articles ready for translation and did all the media translations. Then I tested the first articles.
And this happened, on the first translation of an existing article.
We cannot translate, then update the article and then translate again for 500 articles!
Regards,
Claire

Hello
Plus I tried on one of the articles I had translated.
Did a minor change in the article, revalidated the translation and the image is still not translating.
So it won't work.

Hi
So if I update the articles and re-upload the picture and then translate, it works.
But it is such a waste of time for 500 articles where we already did the updates.
Any other idea?
Regards,
Claire

Hello Claire,
Thank you for testing and sharing the updates.

I completely understand that updating such a large number of posts can be quite a task. According to the current process, an image added as a translation should instantly appear on the translated post. Since it is not happening in your case, could you please try the following and check if that helps?

- Go to WPML > Media Translation and search for the Image.
- Reupload the translated image.
- When you save the changes, you'll see a prompt on the top that will ask you to scan the posts where the image exists and replace the image with a translated image. Please check this screenshot: hidden link . Select the first option and click on "Scan & Replace"
- Once done, please check if the translated image is showing properly in the translated post. If not, please move on to the next step.
- Go to "WPML > Settings" and scroll down to the "Media Translation" section
- Make sure that these options[ hidden link ] are selected and click on "Start"
- Wait till the process is finished.

Please try and let me know how it goes. I will be happy to help if you need further assistance in this matter.

Best Regards,
Prosenjit

Hi
Since I have just translated a couple of them for the moment, I dont understand why you are asking the first things.
We have added all the translated images in the last 3 weeks, and are going to start the translations.
Regarding the settings, they were all correctly installed before uploading the media.
Do you still want me to click on start? Is it safe to click start? It won't remove the translated media we have already uploaded?
Regards,
Claire

Hi Claire,

Please be informed that it is safe to click on the "start" button. Images on all translated posts will be updated only by doing so. But, it is better to take a full backup prior to that.

The recommended approach for media translation is to first complete the translation of the post, and then use the media translation to upload the related translated image. The problem you're experiencing could be due to uploading the translated image before completing the translation of the post in which the image is included.

So, please complete the translation of the post and then add the image translation. Once you add the translated image, make sure to run the scan and replace the original image with the translated image(Screenshot: hidden link)

Please let me know the update. I will be happy to help if you need further assistance in this matter.

So
I did the "start" thing in Settings / media.
I noticed that I had the 4 boxes ticked instead of the 3 in your image (and on my other websites that work I also had 3).
So I un-selected the first one and run the system.
Sadly, once it was finished, all the translated images we had entered for 500 articles had disappeared.
So I reverted to the backup I did just before.

Hello Claire,
Thank you for patiently trying out the suggestions.

Could I kindly ask if you've looked into what happens when you translate the media after finalizing the post/page translation?

If it stays the same, a closer inspection will be required to understand the root cause.

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to have a testing site where the issue is replicated.

You will find the needed fields below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I’ll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site. Let me know if this is ok with you.

IMPORTANT
-Please backup site files and database before providing us access.
-If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:

Looking forward to your response.

Prosenjit
