We use WP, ACF Pro and WPML pro on our website cms. All plugin versions are up to date. We use Crowding as Translation management system, where our translation agency receives the translation jobs and sends them back to us.
When preparing translation jobs, a UI allows us to select images to send to translation. But it seems no matter what we do (select one , many, or none) all are sent to translation. Did we configure the settings correctly? (see current settings in the attached screenshot )

What is the link to your site?

Hi there,

Thank you for contacting WPML support!

Please note this is a public forum, and sharing the login details isn't recommended. I have removed the login credentials as we're not allowed to use them due to GDPR.

Please change the user password as soon as possible.

Regarding the reported issue, I understand that the media text, such as ALT, Caption, and description, are being sent to the translation, and you don't want them to be sent. Is that right?

If that's correct, you can disable the option under WPML → Settings → Media Translation: Translate media library texts with posts.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Hi Ahmed,
Thank you for your concern about the login: in this case it is only to hide it from search engines, as the site is being static generated for publication on another address. But i understand your point.

Regarding the reported issue : we want to be able to send some media for translation, but not for all. On a case-by-case basis. So when we create the job to be sent to crowdin, we select only the media we want translated, but they all end up being sent.
Here is a video capture of the relevant part of the UI: hidden link

For the moment, we don't select any media, but they are being sent to crowdin, so the translators translate them and charge us for it. Perhaps it is a bug in this functionality?
Thank you,
A.

Hi Alexandre,

Thank you for contacting WPML support, I'd be happy to help you with this issue.

I've checked the media translation feature again and see that:

1. If you disable the option "Translate media library texts with posts" in WPML > Settings > Media Translation:
- With the block image or gallery of WordPress editor: you can select each image to send the image info to the translation and translate (title, description ...) in Translation Management.
- With the ACF image field: there is no image info will be sent to the translation.

2. If you enable the option "Translate media library texts with posts", all image info will be sent to the translation from WordPress blocks or ACF image field.

You can just double check the translation in the Advanced Translation Editor https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/

I hope I was helpful. Don't hesitate to ask if you find any problem along the way, I'll gladly help you.

Hello Long,
Thank you for your reply.
So if I understand correctly, if we disable the option "Translate media library texts with posts", the image/media selection feature will not apply to ACF images ?

Sorry, I'm still confused. We don't want ALL images to be sent to translation, only some, that we want to select manually. These images are ACF image fields.

If I understand you correctly, if we enable the feature, ALL images will systematically be sent, which we do not want.
If we disable the feature, none will be sent and the media selection feature is not available, which we do not want either.

Can you clarify this for me?

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback.

I've clarified it in this reply https://wpml.org/forums/topic/why-images-are-sent-to-translation-when-we-dont-select-them/#post-13425045

>> If we enable the feature, ALL images will systematically be sent, which we do not want.
Yes, correct.

>> If we disable the feature, none will be sent and the media selection feature is not available, which we do not want either.
You can select images to send to the translation if the image is added in a WordPress block editor, not ACF.

You can just double check the translation in the Advanced Translation Editor https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/

Look forward to your reply.
Thanks
