This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client's website content was incorrectly assigned to English after copying the Dutch content from an old website to a new one.
Solution:
We recommended two approaches depending on whether the client had already translated any content:
1. If no translations were made, we suggested re-installing WPML.
2. If translations existed, we advised duplicating the content in bulk from English to Dutch and then deleting the English content. We provided a documentation link for assistance: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/displaying-untranslated-content-on-pages-in-secondary-languages/#how-to-duplicate-pages-and-posts-in-bulk.
After the client shared the necessary credentials, we proceeded with re-installing WPML and asked for confirmation that the issue was resolved and the languages were correctly assigned.

Please note that this solution might be irrelevant if it's outdated or not applicable to your case. If you're still experiencing issues, we highly recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket with us.

Hi,

I'm confused too. I don't understand what that message goal is. Maybe the SEO person is not familiar with WPML, but the copy/translation step is not necessary for the SEO, just translating the content after setting the SEO plugin configuration should be enough.

Here is a guide that will help you understand how SEO works with WPML: https://wpml.org/documentation/how-to-set-up-multilingual-seo-on-your-website/

Hi, I talked to the guy and he says this:

"As support said we need to copy the pages and posts: Before changing the default language, you can do the following to ensure your archive listings display posts correctly:

Option 1: Translate all your content to the new default language. Ensure all your posts are translated into the language you intend to make your new default language. If you have a lot of content and need to speed up the translation process, you can use automatic translation.
Option 2: Duplicate Existing Posts: Duplicate your existing post types, including pages, products, and other custom posts, to the new default language.

So, I wanted to ask support to again about that " do we need to copy all the pages and posts before starting the automatic translation? Or = automatic translations copying the posts."

Can you clearify this?

Hi Carlos,

I just checked the website and the default language is now English. I think the external specialist put it to English. We did not run any auto translate so far. For what I remember, it should be in Dutch now because my blogs are in Dutch. Then translate and then switch the default language to English? Im doubting about taking this project myself now.

Can you clearify please?

Warm regards,
Leon

Hi Leon,

I'm not sure how can I help you here. Could you elaborate a little more so I can have a better understanding of how can I help in this situation?
