Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate content from English to other languages using WPML on our website hidden link. We are experiencing issues with images and URLs not updating properly in translations. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link

Symptoms:
Images are not updating correctly in translated versions, showing old images instead of updated ones. URLs are not updating properly, pointing to outdated versions despite being updated in English. This inconsistency occurs across multiple languages.

Questions:
How can we ensure WPML properly updates images and URLs when translating content?
What steps should we take to fix existing incorrect images and links?
Is there a way to force WPML to sync translations correctly with the latest English version?

Hi,

I can see differences between the English and German pages.

After making changes to the original English, did you update the translation?

If not, you must do that. Otherwise, the changes will not take effect in the translations.

Also, it seems you are using Elementor to design your site's pages. Please ensure you follow our Elementor guide here.

https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/elementor/

Please share your site's Debug information if you need further help with this issue. You can read about it here.

Itamar.

Hello,

We have updated the translations. Is there an option to check somewhere which images will be shown? Additionally, are there any settings we can adjust to ensure that images, links, and YouTube videos are updated correctly across the website? I have also provided the debug information for reference.

Best,

Hi,

You asked: "Is there an option to check somewhere which images will be shown?"

The same images should be shown. This is true unless you change the image for the translated page. You can do that with WPML's Media translation add-on, which you can read about here.

https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/media-translation/

However, this add-on is not installed on your site, and you want to keep the same images for the translated pages, so it seems that this is not the issue.

You also asked: "Additionally, are there any settings we can adjust to ensure that images, links, and YouTube videos are updated correctly across the website?"

Images from WordPress's Media Library should be synced if all the settings are set to the default. I'm referring to the Media translation settings in WPML -> Settings -> Media translation.

Internal links should be synced by default. External links, including YouTube links, should be translated. If the original link is the same, copy it to the translation.

You are using Elementor to design this page.
Are you following our guide on how to work with WPML and Elementor?

https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/elementor/

How are you translating the page?
Are you using WPML's Translation Editor or the Elementor editor?

Regards,
Itamar.

Hi,

I was reviewing the setup configuration under Settings > Media Translations, and I just wanted to confirm whether everything is configured correctly. Could you please take a quick look and let me know if the settings are properly set up?

Thanks a lot!

Best,
Linda

Hi,

We have completed the translations for both the Norwegian and Spanish languages through WPML, not Elementor. Is there an option we can press now to ensure that the website displays the newest pictures for these languages?

Thank you!
Best regards,
Linda

Hi, Linda.

You wrote: "I was reviewing the setup configuration under Settings > Media Translations, and I just wanted to confirm whether everything is configured correctly. Could you please take a quick look and let me know if the settings are properly set up?"

You should also select 'Duplicate media attachments for translations' under 'How to handle media for new content:'. For some reason, it is not selected on your site.

You asked: "Is there an option we can press now to ensure that the website displays the newest pictures for these languages?"

Things should have worked if you had followed the correct translation procedure. Please give me access to your site so I can check what went wrong.

If you need further help with this, please share the access details to your site with me. I'm enabling a private message for the following reply.

We recently updated our website and encountered an issue with the images on the Norwegian version of our "Destinasjoner" page (link: hidden link).

Despite following the recommended steps, all images are now showing incorrectly. We have made sure to press the necessary options as advised, but the issue persists.

Could you please assist us in resolving this issue and ensuring that the correct images appear on the Norwegian version of the page?

DO you need access to the website and debug ?

Hi,

The problem is with all the 'In progress' translations, like the Norwegian translation. Please see the attached screenshot. You need to complete these translations, and it should fix the problem. You can see that translations that are completed, like the hidden link">Danish translation works, and the page shows alright.

In addition, I also clicked the start button in WPML -> Settings -> Media translation. Duplicating many images in other languages would take a while, but if any missing images are in the other languages, they should be duplicated at the end of the process. Please see the attached screenshot.

Please finish the 'In progress' translations. At the end of this process, you should see the pencil icon next to the Norwegian language, like you can see now next to the Danish, Dutch, and German languages. Then, the Norwegian page should look like the English page.

Please let me know how it goes.

Please note that my weekend is Friday-Saturday, and I'll be able to continue to check this issue and help you on Sunday.

Regards,
Itamar.
