This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is using the Avada theme and has a separate French menu from the English one on their site. The main French menu is not displaying correctly, showing only the last tab while the submenus remain visible.
Solution:
1. We recommended checking the menu settings in WordPress under WP > Appearance > Menu to ensure the correct menu is selected for the French version.
2. It's important to link the primary language "main menu" to its translated version as shown in the provided screenshot. This step is crucial for the menus to display correctly across different languages.
3. If issues persist, it might be due to synchronization problems which can occur if other methods of menu translation are used. We suggest reviewing the methods listed on Translating Menus to ensure proper setup.

Background of the issue:
I am using Avada and have a French menu which is separate from the English one on my site hidden link. The main menu (top menu) is no longer showing, except for the last tab, although the submenus are visible. I need help to have this main top menu show again. I have attached a screengrab of the menu that should be showing.

Symptoms:
The main French menu is not displaying, except for the last tab, while submenus are visible.

Questions:
Why is the main French menu not showing except for the last tab?
How can I make the main top menu visible again?

Thanks for contacting us.

Based on the screenshot you shared, I'm not so sure what's going on there. Therefore, I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.

Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.

Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.

✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.

Hi Kor, I am now on a break from work until next Tuesday, can I reply then? Can you keep this ticket running.

In the meantime, FYI the site is backed up daily (hosted with Siteground on a GoGeek account). However, what would be easier if possible.... Is there any way you can work on a staging site? I can create one for you, but I'm not sure how this might work for WPML.

That would be best as it will not take the site real site down for any period and you can spend some time looking into the issue. If you can let me know I will do that for you next Tuesday.

Let me know and we can take it from there.

Many thanks in the meantime

Kind regards
Holly

Thanks for your reply. Yes, we can continue next week. Also, it would be better if we could work on the staging site directly to prevent any downtimes on your production site.

Hi Kor,
Let me know when you are available and I will set up the staging site for you and pass on the credentials.

I'm not sure what else I may need to do to have WPML function properly on a staging site - maybe it will just work. I know with some plugins there are issues on staging sites.

Many thanks
Holly

Hi Kor,
It seems the issue is your new SEO plugin. I have deactivated this on the live site and re-created a new staging site. (I'm not yet sure how to finalise this anyway as there seems a number of steps to sort it out). You'll see some of that on the staging site.

I can see what you've done, but I think you have also done a translation, see the differences between the live and staging site. I'm not sure how you got to this.

Just ticking the alternative styles for the menu doesn't have any effect on the live site. It still shows the wrong top menu.

Historically I just created this menu specifically for the french side. I can see you made a test menu of some sort?

What should I do now?

Kind regards
Holly
