Hello,
I'd like to report again a problem I already had a few weeks ago.
I changed my website to a full-side editor theme in April. Since them, managing the translation of the navigation menu with WPML has been extremely complicated and unreliable, as it's not possible to use the menu sync page anymore.

You can check my other past tickets to know about some difficulties I encountered in the process. You helped me find some workarounds, however there's still one bug that I hope will be fixed soon, as it's very annoying.

Every time I translate a new item from English to Japanese in the navigation menu, ALL links in the Japanese menu are replaced by the English links. Then I have to manually change again all the links back to Japanese. I can't do this every time I edit the menu with a new item. Could you please confirm the status of this problem and fix it?

More generally, do you have plans to make WPML more compatible with the full-site editor? Problems such as the one above and the need to use complex workarounds to be able to edit the menu in some languages show that it's not yet entirely compatible. I didn't have the same problems with my previous theme (not based on the full-site editor).

Hello,
Thank you for contacting us

Have you synchronized the menus after editing the one in the original language?

Regards,
Carlos

Hi Carlos,
If you're refering to the "WP Menus Sync" feature that's available in WordPress dashboard's WMPL section, we cannot use it with the full-site editor: the navigation menu (created with the full-side editor) is not displayed here (I only see the old menu, inherited from our previous theme, that wasn't full-side editor compatible).

The main issue here is that the navigation menus are managed in a completely different way in WordPress full-side editor, compared to before. It has become very difficult to handle their translation. I hope you can improve this.

Hi,
Thank you for your message.

In order to have a better understanding of the issue and escalate it to our 2nd tier of support -if necessary- I created a new WordPress + WPML installation with EN as the default language and JA as the secondary language.

I kindly ask you to reproduce the issue in this sandbox site and describe step-by-step how to see it. It would be great if you could create a video showing the steps you followed to reproduce the problem.

You can access the sandbox site using this link: hidden link

Looking forward to your message.
Regards,
Carlos
