This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is trying to insert a language switcher in the header using the 'menu language switcher' option in WPML but faces issues with the dropdown menu only showing options from a previous theme, not the current theme. Additionally, inserting a WPML block in the header breaks the header into multiple lines.
Solution:
We recommend going to WPML-> Languages-> Menu Language Switcher and deleting the old switcher. Then, edit your header/navigation template and add a new switcher block. If this does not resolve the issue, placing the language switcher in a column within the header might prevent it from breaking into multiple lines.

Please note that this solution might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum for further assistance.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to insert a language switcher in my header using the 'menu language switcher' option in the 'languages' menu in WPML. I have switched themes and am now using the 2025 theme on WordPress 6.7.1.

Symptoms:
The dropdown menu for choosing which menu to insert the language switcher into only shows options from a previous theme, not the current theme. Additionally, inserting a WPML block in the header breaks the header into multiple lines.

Questions:
Is there a way to reset the menu options so I can insert a language switcher into the current theme's header menu?
Is there a way to prevent the header from breaking into multiple lines when inserting a WPML block?

Hi,

Thanks for contacting WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today.

Please go to WPML-> Languages-> Menu Language Switcher and delete the old switcher.

After that, please edit your header/navigation template and add a new switcher block.

If that didn't help, I would need to look closely at your site, so I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP)
Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.

Your answer will be private, meaning only you and I can access it.

❌ Please backup your database and website ❌

✙ I need your permission to deactivate and reactivate the plugins and themes and change site configurations. This is also why the backup is critical.

✙ I also need your permission to take a local copy of your site to debug the issue without affecting your live site.

Best regards,
Osama

Hello Osama

Thank you for your reply.

I did some more experiments and found out that I needed to put the language switcher in a column, and bingo, the switcher didn't break the lines.

Also choosing the "menu language switcher" rather than the "language switcher" helped,

I guess handling WP takes quite a bit of practice, experimenting and a little luck 🙂

Thanks again

Best Wishes
