This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client was experiencing an issue where links that were previously translated using WPML and Elementor reverted back to their original language. Despite the XML code being intact, the translated links disappeared.

Solution:
We recommended the following steps:
1. Navigate to WPML -> Settings -> Custom XML Configuration tab.
2. Replace the existing XML with the new provided XML.

<wpml-config>...</wpml-config>

3. Save the changes.
4. Edit the homepage in the original language, make a small change to the content, save the changes, and update the translation.

If the issue persisted, we suggested editing the XML code to change a specific line from:

<field editor_type="LINK">witr_button_link>url</field>

to:

<field editor_type="LINK" key_of="witr_button_link">url</field>

Then, save the changes and update the homepage in the original language and the translation.

If the solution provided here is not relevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case, we encourage you to open a new support ticket. We also highly recommend checking related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Hi there,

I took another look at the site's configuration but I can't find a solution for this issue. I would like to ask your authorization to create a copy of the site and escalate this ticket to our 2nd tier of support.

Hi there,
Thank you for your authorization.

Unfortunately, I couldn't create a copy of the site because the server ran out of memory. I have set your next message private so you can share a copy of the site. You can use Duplicator plugin or All-In-One WP Migration plugin to create a quick copy of the site.

Important note: Please do not export the media library as it is unnecessary for debugging purposes.

Hi,

It will be better if you manually share the folder of the site + a DB dump. I have set your next message as private again so you can share the site copy in a secure way.

Hi there,

Our 2nd tier specialists and I can see the links correctly translated now on your site. Do you still see the issue? If you do, please share a screenshot of an incorrect link.

Hello,

I changed the links via Elementor, which I was warned is a temporary solution and is not the correct way. Probably will lose the translation of the links in the next change I'll make, like it had happened before. Inside the backup I sent you is the site before the changes in the Elementor and you can see clearly the issue. If you could fix it there so I don't have to change the links every now and then, it would be really helpful.

Thank you in advance.

Also, I spotted another custom field that is unlocatable in string translation. If you could add it to the XML code so I can translate it, it would be great.

Attached is a printscreen of the field mentioned. It is the last element of the page: hidden link (GR)
hidden link (EN)

Thank you.
