This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client wants to switch the translation method from gtranslate to WPML on a website installed in a subdirectory.
Solution:
If you're experiencing the same issue, we recommend changing the translation engine to WPML by navigating to WPML > Settings > Automatic translation in your WordPress dashboard. This change will ensure that all future translations use WPML.

Please note that this solution might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket.

Hey there,

In this case, you can simply switch the translation engine to WPML in WPML > Settings > Automatic translation

Your future translations will use then your desired Engine. Let me know if that answers your question.
