Background of the issue:
I have a website with pages that are translated using WPML. I want to ensure that these translated pages are indexed by search engines like Google so that they appear in the correct language version, such as Google.de showing the DE translated page.

Symptoms:
I am unsure if the translated pages are being indexed by search engines.

Questions:
How can I check if my translated pages are being indexed by search engines?
Is there a way to ensure that Google shows the correct language version of my translated pages?

Hi,

before your ticket is assigned to one of my colleagues, please allow me to walk you through some initial debugging steps. This will help speed up the support process.

We don’t have direct control over whether or not your content is indexed by search engines. The simplest way to check is to search for the title or specific keywords on Google. Do you see anything indexed?

Could you provide a specific example? This will allow me to check the title, meta description, and other relevant details.

Best regards,
Marcel

I did follow the solution from this post: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/pages-are-not-being-indexed/ and disabled the browser language redirect.

Hey there,

It looks like the French version is being indexed by Google. To verify that, I searched in Google for your specific French website, and several results were shown, demonstrating it's indexed.

You can search for "site:keytalk.com/fr" and check if there are any results. Check the image attached and let me know if this answers your question.

Thank you for checking Lucas.

I see some pages being shown but not all.

For instance, according to the hidden link there should be about 26 blogposts in French but the Google search doesn't shown them at all except one:

For example, these are not found amongst others:

Hey there,

Unfortunately, this falls outside WPML SEO capabilities. If your sitemap looks correct, the issue probably lies with Google.

If you recently added the sitemap to Google, it's worth waiting at least a day. WPML SEO is solely responsible for telling Yoast what are the languages of the website. I checked the pages, and they all have the correct language information. That means that WPML is working as expected, unfortunately we cannot help you on this one.

I recommend you to reach out to Yoast, or to Google's support, to check why the pages in the sitemap are not being indexed.

Ok thank you very much for your response Lucas!

Closing this issue and going to check with Yoast.
