This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client created a variable product in WooCommerce and needs to translate the name of the default variation. After translating, the product appears empty in the frontend.
Solution:
1. Ensure the WooCommerce Multilingual & Multi Currency plugin is installed and activated. You can download it from here.
2. Edit the variable product in the default language ensuring that the "WPML Translation Editor" is enabled.
3. Translate the secondary language product using the WPML Translation Editor. For detailed steps, refer to this documentation.
4. If the variation still does not show in the frontend, follow these troubleshooting steps:
- Clear the cache in WPML.
- Synchronize posts taxonomies.
- Remove ghost entries from the translation tables.
- More steps can be found in the WPML Support Troubleshooting page.
5. Consider creating global attributes and translate them either during the product translation or via WooCommerce >> WooCommerce Multilingual & Multicurrency > Attributes tab.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, we recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Background of the issue:
I have created a variable product (WooCommerce) on my site hidden link and need to translate the name of the default variation. I created a product with different variations, one variation name is the German word "flasche" which I need to translate to French "bouteille".

Symptoms:
I am unsure how to translate the variation name from German to French.

Questions:
How can I translate the variation name from German to French using WPML?

Thank you for contacting WPML Support. You should be able to translate it using the WPML Translation Editor along with the product. Here will be the steps:

1. Make sure to install/activate the WooCommerce Multilingual & Multi Currency plugin: https://wpml.org/download/woocommerce-multilingual-multicurrency/?section=changelog

2. Edit the variable product in default language and make sure “WPML Translation Editor” is enabled.

3. Edit the secondary language product in WPML Translation Editor and try to translate it.

Hello, i did as you said. So the terms are translated where i add them but they are not added as variations which creates en empty product in the frontend. Do i need to set these terms somewhere as default terms and not add them on the product?

If the variation not showing at frontend in secondary language, please try to follow the below steps:

1. Take a backup of your site first for safety reasons.
2. Go to WPML >> Support >> Troubleshooting page and press the below buttons:
- Clear the cache in WPML
- [Products] Synchronize posts taxonomies
- Remove ghost entries from the translation tables
- Synchronize local job ids with ATE jobs
- Synchronize translators and translation managers with ATE
- Assign translation status to duplicated content
- Fix post type assignment for translations
- Set language information

If the issue persists, try creating global attributes, as they are preferable. Follow the steps outlined in this guide: https://woocommerce.com/document/managing-product-taxonomies/#how-to-add-edit-product-attributes:~:text=Create%20global%20attributes

To translate global attributes, you can do so either while translating the product or via WooCommerce >> WooCommerce Multilingual & Multicurrency > Attributes tab.

Hi, tank you so much! So what in the end helped just to delete the translation product and translate it anew with the WPML translation editor. There i set all the translation and now it works perfect! Thank you so much for your help!
