Hello,

Following a drop in our sales I looked at our site and noticed that German translations had taken the place of French on certain elements.

For exemple "ajouter aux favoris" is now in german : "Zur Wunschliste hinzufügen"

On product page, the tab “description technique” is now in deutch too : "Technische Beschreibung".

All payment steps are also in German on the french version...

It (seems) to happend after I did some basic modifications on category pages in german and some menu changes still on the german version.

I created a staging website with the actual problem : hidden link

ANd on main website I'll try to get back to the version before we did the changes on the german website.

Going to chaine translations on wpml won't offer me to change the french texte

Please help

Just so you know, I didn't roll back an old backup because Kinsta cleaned my website after an infection. But I still have the problem. I checked on Loco Translate but nothing to do here.

Hi,

thanks for contacting us.

With just such information it's rather difficult to tell why it happened. If the changes were done at theme options level, it might be a problem with the cache, but we didn't test your theme so it's impossible to tell.

The only thing we can suggest at this moment is to change the string language into German and then translate them in French (https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/how-to-change-the-source-language-of-strings/) or change them in the theme option if that's possible.

Once it's fixed, keep track of any changes you do in order to understand when such languages exchange happen, if they happen again at all.
