[Resolved] Sometimes the "translation edit box" will jump to the end of the page
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client is experiencing an issue where the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) jumps to the end of the page after saving a block of text during translation. This issue occurs randomly and not for all text blocks. Refreshing the page seems to prevent the issue from reoccurring for that specific page. Solution: 1. We first suggested that the issue might be temporary and asked the client to attempt to replicate it, providing clear steps if possible. 2. We noticed that the REST API appeared to be disabled on the client's site, which is essential for some of WPML's functionality. We recommended checking the REST API dependencies here: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/rest-api-dependencies/ 3. Upon further investigation, we confirmed that the REST API was working on the client's site. 4. We asked the client if the issue persists with the latest WPML version (at the time, 4.6.10) and advised checking for the latest versions in the "My Account -> Downloads" section. We also provided a link to update instructions: http://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/ and reminded the client to back up their database before updating.
If the solution provided here is not relevant to your case, either because it's outdated or it doesn't apply to your situation, we highly recommend checking the related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket with us.

Issue: When I translate some blocks of text and then click on saving that block, ATE will jump to the end of the page. It happens randomly and not all the time or for all blocks. If I refresh the page, it does not happen again for that particular page (see screenshot for a better understanding)
It is difficult to replicate, because it happens randomly, some days and for some pages, for no particular reason. I will try and record it if it happens again.
Is there away to find out whether it was a false positive (regarding the REST API)?
Absolutely, I will activate the private field to ensure that your information remains confidential. Please provide me with the link to the video and access credentials so that I can review the problem. Rest assured, the information you provide will only be accessible to you and me.
It happens in second 17. When we click on the element to translate, the box with the text to translate goes all the way down, to the bottom of the ATE.
Usually, when we refresh the page, it goes back to working fine.
Are you getting this issue with another browser? For, i.e., if you translate the page using Firefox or Chrome? I also suggest checking if your browser needs to be updated.
If you haven't tested this, could you please check?
It seems that the issue is still there, and it might be related to window size changes.
Our translator reported this "Especially when I change the size of the window (for example because I want to copy and paste things). And when I go back to the usual size of the window, it doesn't return to normal, it stays at the bottom. I have to refresh the ATE. When I reduced the window, at first, the edit box went with it, but at the next click, it jumped to the bottom"
This is happening in updated Google Chrome and Windows 10
Thank you for the information. I have tried to replicate the issue on the local installation with Chrome on MAC but I wasn't able to. I will ask some of my colleagues to check this as well.
In the meantime, could you please provide access to your website? I need to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site – preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible – in order to be of better help. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.
Please let me know which page I can use as a test.
It is happening to 2 different websites where we use WPML, so we prefer to wait for your team to check the issue further, before giving access to our sites.
Thank you for your feedback. I have spoken to my teammate to investigate the problem you reported, but he was unable to replicate the issue either.
Would it be possible for you to turn off all browser extensions and try again in an incognito window? This will help us to determine if any of your extensions are causing the problem.
