[Resolved] Translated string not rendering on frontend
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: You are using a custom plugin with a custom shortcode that includes a string. After attempting to translate the string via WPML, the shortcode no longer renders on the frontend, even though it was visible on the English version previously. Solution: We recommend translating the string through WPML's String Translation. You can access this feature from your WPML dashboard. Here is a step-by-step guide: 1. Navigate to WPML -> String Translation. 2. Search for the 'Check-In Now' string and ensure it is correctly translated.
If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your specific case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket.

<b>Background of the issue: </b>
I am trying to use a custom plugin with a custom shortcode that contains a string. I followed the directions to translate the string via WPML. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link (next to the pay your bill button should be a 'check-in now' button).
<b>Symptoms: </b>
After running through the steps to translate the string, the shortcode no longer renders on the frontend, despite being visible on the English side before. I expected to see a button that says 'Check-In Now', but instead, I got nothing.
<b>Questions: </b>
Why is the translated string not rendering on the frontend?
How can I make the 'Check-In Now' button appear as expected?
Thank you for contacting the support. Meanwhile this ticket is attended by one of my colleagues, I'll recommend updating all WPML plugins to latest versions.
You can try this by going to Plugins -> Add New -> Commercial -> Check for updates or manually downloading from https://wpml.org/account/downloads/ and uploading via Plugins -> Add New -> Upload.
IMPORTANT: Please take full backup of your website and database beforehand.
It is highly advised to try this on a staging/dev site first, so your live website isn't compromised.
Once updated, then please check again, if issue remains the same, I'll recommend checking with a default WordPress theme like 2021 or 2024 to see if it is not coming from your current theme.
Please let us know and we'll try our best to help you further on the matter.
I've updated WPML and the String Translation plugins to the latest RC releases. I've also tested with the default 2024 WP theme and the issue persists.
Thanks for contacting WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today.
First of all, sorry for the late reply; it was due to a higher workload.
I would need to look closely at your site, so I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.
Your answer will be private, meaning only you and I can access it.
❌ Please backup your database and website ❌
✙ I need your permission to deactivate and reactivate the plugins and themes and change site configurations. This is also why the backup is critical.
✙ I also need your permission to take a local copy of your site to debug the issue without affecting your live site.
Thanks for the access details. I deactivated the WPML plugins on the staging site, but the button you mentioned didn't appear, so I think it's unrelated to the translation.
Please check how this button is added and add it in the default language with WPML plugins deactivated. After that, please activate WPML plugins and check it will disappear.
