This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are experiencing a critical issue where Elementor does not function correctly when the WPML String Translation plugin is active. Attempting to update or deactivate the WPML String Translation results in the website crashing without clear error messages.

Solution:
We recommend updating your WPML plugins to the latest versions as the version you are using is significantly outdated and known for such bugs or compatibility issues, which have been addressed in more recent updates. Please follow this guide on how to update WPML manually.

Before proceeding, ensure to take a full backup of your website and database. If possible, perform these updates on a staging or development site first to avoid compromising your live website.

If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your specific case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at WPML known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If problems persist, please open a new support ticket.

Background of the issue:
I am experiencing a critical issue with the WPML String Translation plugin on my website hidden link. When the plugin is active, Elementor does not work properly, and I am unable to update or remove the plugin without causing the entire website to go down.

Symptoms:
Elementor is not working properly when WPML String Translation is active. If I try to update or deactivate WPML String Translation, the website crashes. I receive no clear error messages, but the site becomes inaccessible.

Questions:
How can I safely update or remove the WPML String Translation plugin without crashing the website?
Are there any known compatibility issues between WPML and Elementor?
Do you have a recommended fix or troubleshooting steps?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting the support.

I see that you're using latest WordPress and Elementor plugins, but using very older WPML (almost a year old version). Since then a lot has been changed, specially after recent major WordPress update.

So I recommend updating WPML plugins to the latest versions. Because unfortunately we can not keep supporting older versions, which have been known for such bugs or compatibility issues and have been fixed in the later versions.

Please see this guide https://wpml.org/faq/updating-wpml-manually/ about how you can update manually, as well as, from an older version.

In any case, please take full backup of your website and database beforehand.

It is highly advised to try this on a staging/dev site first, so your live website isn't compromised.

Regards.
