Background of the issue:
I have translated the original page with WPML translation editor, and the site is built with Elementor. I am trying to edit the translated page with Elementor.

Symptoms:
When I try to edit the translated page with Elementor, it closes my session, logs me out, and when I log back in, I can't access the page with Elementor. With more languages added, WPML is acting really strange.

Questions:
Why does editing the translated page with Elementor close my session and log me out?
How can I access the translated page with Elementor after being logged out?
Is there a known issue with WPML and Elementor when multiple languages are added?

This approach is not working:

1. Please take a backup of your site first for safety reasons.

2. Please make sure to update Elementor, Elementor pro plugins to the latest version.

3. Please make sure to enable the "Auto sign-in and sign-out users from all domains" option from WPML >> Languages page and press the Save button.

4. Please re-save the Permalinks from the Settings >> Permalinks page by pressing the Save Changes button.

5. Please logout from your all domain and login again.

I did all of that yet the issue still persists.

Thanks for trying the above steps. To take a closer look at this issue, please provide temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP Login info) to your site (preferably staging site), so that I can look into your setup and debug the issue.

I’ve enabled a private input box for your next reply.

=== Please backup your database and website ===

✙ I would additionally need your permission to deactivate and reactivate Plugins and the Theme and to change configurations on the site. This is also a reason the backup is really important.

✙ Please provide me an example page link where I can see this issue.

Thank you

1. I’ve tried to check the issue in the minimal environment by deactivating all plugins except WPML and Elementor but the issue persists.

2. The browser console displays the following error:

Refused to display '<URL>' in a frame because it set 'X-Frame-Options' to 'sameorigin'

You can see this error in the attached screenshot.

3. I attempted to remove the X-Frame-Options: SAMEORIGIN setting from your WordPress site, but I couldn't locate the .htaccess file in the site's root directory.

Could you please reach out to your hosting support team regarding this issue? They might be able to assist you better.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience.

I have talked to the hosting provider, we have disabled cloudflare, removed 'X-Frame-Options', added CSP to enable all the subdomains, I am not sure if it's normal behaviour, when you try to edit the page with elementor that it redirects you to different subdomain.. hidden link

However, nothing works, issue still persists.

Sorry for the delay, I was off during the weekend (Friday-Saturday). Thanks for trying the steps.

I’m going to debug this issue further and also try to replicate it on a fresh WP site with WPML and Elementor. I'll get back to you with an update soon.

Thank you for your patience.

- I've tried to replicate this issue on a fresh WP site by following these steps:

1. Set up different domains per language.
2. Choose "Different domains per language" URL format from the WPML >> Languages page.
3. Unchecked the “Validate on save” checkbox from the WPML >> Languages page.
4. Selected the “Auto sign-in and sign-out users from all domains” option from the WPML >> Languages page.
5. Re-saved Permalinks from the Settings >> Permalinks page by pressing the Save Changes button.
6. Logged out and logged in again.

Everything seems to be working correctly, as you can see in the attached video: hidden link. This indicates that the issue is not a bug in WPML or Elementor, but rather a site/server-specific problem.

- So, I've also disabled all secondary languages on your site and reactivated them one by one. The issue only appears when one of these languages are activated: Arabic, Dutch (Belgium), German, Hebrew, and English.

I suspect this might be due to the server settings for these languages. Could you please compare the server settings of these 5 languages with the other 32 languages and see if this resolves the issue?

Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I see now that editing is working but a few languages from your list have been disabled. How can we reactivate them?

Also, regarding deactivated languages. You mentioned that we compare server settings for those 5 languages with the other 32 languages. The catch is that we don't have any specific server settings for languages..it's WordPress + WPML and that's it so I don't see what could be a problem on the server level. If it's working for 32 languages it should for those 5 as well if you ask me.

Can someone from WPML's technical team take a look what is going on in the background in WPML? Please note that we are actively adding translations to this site.

One last question. Do you have a recommendation for adding unofficial languages like Kosovo (Serbian) maybe because we have a specific case here.

Thanks,
Vladimir

Hi,

Thanks for your message.

WPML comes with the Serbian language by default, but you can add any custom language by following the steps from this doc: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/editing-wpmls-languages-table/#adding-your-own-languages-using-wpmls-gui .

After setting up custom languages, you may need to adjust your server settings as described here: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-url-options/how-to-use-wpml-with-different-domains-per-language/. Once done, everything should work fine.

As you've set up all languages the same way, these 5 should work too. I'm going to escalate this issue to our 2nd tier support for a deeper look. Please keep the staging/test login details unchanged.

Thank you
