Hi There,
Thanks for contacting WPML Support.

If you add a taxonomy translation using "WPML > Taxonomy Translation", it shouldn't be overridden in the ATE, despite being visible there for translation. Similarly, adding a translation through ATE won't overwrite any translation you've entered in the Taxonomy Translation section.

However to better understand what is going on, could you please share the steps on how we can replicate the issue? If you can capture it on a video and share the video in the next response, it will greatly help in getting a better understanding of the issue. I will check and guide you on what to do next.

Looking forward to your response.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Please find a quick example,

I modified the category name on woocommerce multilanguage. Previously it was "Good Plans" i write "Best Deals" and i Save

Then i modify a product, and i launch the ATE, you see that the category name is erased, and put back "Good Plans"

Hello There,

Thank you for sharing the screenshots and more details.

Based on the screenshot you shared from the ATE, I noticed that "Bons Plans" is marked as a glossary term(indicated by a dotted box around the word). Now, there is a key point to remember: when you add a glossary term and its translation, this specific translation is automatically used whenever the term comes up in the Translation editor. Therefore, any previous modifications you have made to this term will be replaced by the specified glossary translation.

Please check this guide to learn more about the Glossary translation: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/how-to-create-and-manage-glossary-entries/

Now, to ensure that the translation of your taxonomy remains accurate in the ATE, it's necessary to review your glossary terms. Specifically, you should either delete or alter any glossary term that is identical to your taxonomy name. To understand how you can edit or delete the Glossaries, please check this link: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/how-to-create-and-manage-glossary-entries/#managing-glossary-entries

I hope this step will help maintain the integrity and correctness of your Taxonomy translations in ATE. Please let me know if that helps or if you need further assistance in this matter. I will be happy to help.

Best regards.

Yes, but the problem is that in the glossary i put the good term as you can see on screenshot ... It does not take it into account either
English is the second box and as you can see i wrote Best Deals and not Good plans

Hello There,
Thank you for the update.

Would you please try the following and check if that helps to solve the issue?

- Edit the Glossary Term and change the Type from "General" to "Name"
- Now, open the default post in WordPress Editor and deselect the "Bons Plans" category from the post.
- Make a small change in the post and update the changes.
- Once done, update the translation as well.
- Now, select the category for the post again, make a small change, and save the change.
- Try to update the translation. In the editor, please ensure that you've entered the translation from Glossary by following the guidelines provided here: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/how-to-create-and-manage-glossary-entries/#inserting-glossary-entries-advanced-translation-editor

Please let me know if that helps or if you need further assistance in this matter. I will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Hi,
I already tried this but it does not change ...
I don't have a problem only with this one, but with every words, even if they are or they are don't on the glossery, when we make a manual change, it's always erased as soon as the product is update. For example for the glossary with Name, i have all the brands, and its not working either, for example the brand "Nutrition", is always erased by the translation of this name in all languages, whereas it's in the glossary
And when we make manual changes directly on the taxonomy names for example, as soon as a product is update, the manual category name is erased
Thanks for your help
I think that it will be easier if you check directly on the website

Hi There,
Thank you for the detailed update.

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to have a testing site where the issue is replicated. Along with the access information, Additionally, could you please provide the following details along with the access information so that I can asses the issue properly?

- The specific steps to replicate the issue
- The page/post where the issue is happening.

You will find the needed fields below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I’ll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site. Let me know if this is ok with you.

IMPORTANT
-Please backup site files and database before providing us access.
-If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:

Looking forward to your response.

Best Regards,
Prosenjit

Hi,

[Removed]

To reproduce the problem, for example, you take the categories "Bons Plans" in french, you change the english translation manually with woocommerce multilingual to something else. Then you edit a sample product with this category. Then you launch the translation on "Translation Management" you will see that the name you put before will be erased by the old one make with automatic translation.

There is the same problem for brands, made with PWB Brand, custom taxonomy, you can test with 5% Nutrition, and the german translation, by following the same steps as previously. Same problem appear, all the manual translation are erased

Add the term in the glossary does not change anything

Hi There,
Thank you for providing the access information.

Upon investigation, I found that the "Taxonomy visibility in the translation editor" setting located in "WPML > Settings > Translation Editor" was disabled. This configuration resulted in taxonomies not translated via the Translation Editor being loaded into the Editor, with their translations sourced from the Translation Memory. Consequently, this is the reason why the translations for the categories were being overwritten in the process.

Please enable the "Only show taxonomy terms that haven't been translated yet" option under "WPML > Settings ↳ Translation Editor" and check again. Before that, please ensure that the taxonomies are translated in "WPML > Taxonomy Translation". I hope the issue will be resolved right after that.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance in this matter. I will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Hi,
Okay i will test

You agree that it will work also for custom taxonomy ? Like PWB Brand ?

One other question, is it possible to automatically copy the custom taxonomy pwb brand, and not translate it ? Because it creates wrong brands in other languages, ... And with the automatic translation, the brand is created as soon as the product is translated in other languages

Hi There,

Enabling that option will affect every Taxonomy on the site. Taxonomies that are translated in "WPML > Taxonomy Translation" will not appear in the Translation Editor.

When you enable that option, you have to translate the "PWB Brand" Taxonomy for once by going to Taxonomy Translation. If you don't want to translate it, just copy the default name to its translation by clicking on the copy button as shown here: hidden link

Once the taxonomy is translated and the option "Taxonomy visibility in the translation editor" is enabled, the taxonomy will not get overwritten again.

Please let me know if you need further assistance in this matter. I will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Prosenjit
