Tell us what you are trying to do?
We have created a new Website. For all the redirects we need a sitemap from the old website. For the main language, its no problem hidden link but i cant get the sitemap for the foreign languages, because we were using the the wpml with the language attribute like hidden link

Is there any documentation that you are following?
i did not find any. i just find to generate the sitemap when using different domains per language, but how can i generate the sitemap for a language, when using the language attribut like hidden link

Is there a similar example that we can see?
nope

What is the link to your site?
hidden link

Hi,

before your ticket is assigned to one of my colleagues, please allow me to walk you through some initial debugging steps. This will help speed up the support process.

I can see that you are using language as a parameter. Why you are not using language per directory? I think This will solve your issue.

https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-url-options/#server-settings-for-languages-in-directories

Regards,
Andreas

As I wrote, on the old WordPress environment we had the setting with the parameter. Of course on the new enviroment we have other setting!

Hello,

How are you creating the sitemap?

The expected behavior with WPML and sitemaps is for the sitemap to display all languages under 1 sitemap.

This sitemap can be accessed either from the default laguage or the translationn

Unless you are using the structure of different domains per language, then you can have a different sitemap per domain.

See here for an example:
hidden link

You can see all languages in 1 sitemap. (sitemap created by Yoast)

Yes, I am of course reading your posts, and there is no information on how you are creating this sitemap.

I understand you are attempting to use a sitemap from an older site but are you using Yoast, are you using another third-party plugin, or is this a custom sitemap?

Additionally, I have shared important information on how sitemaps work with WPML.

To answer your original question:

"i just find to generate the sitemap when using different domains per language, but how can I generate the sitemap for a language, when using the language attribute like hidden link"

You cannot do this with WPML unless you are using the URL Format with different domains per language

As I wrote in the first post, I create the sitemap with hidden link

So if I migrate a page that used the language attribute, I can't set up redirections?

Looks like you are using the native WordPress feature to create a sitemap (introduce in WP 5.5+) instead of using a plugin such as Yoast SEO.

The sitemap should list all languages under 1 sitemap --> that is the expected behavior.

If you migrate a page that used to use hidden link and now the site uses hidden link no redirection is needed.

WPML will assign the URL format that is being used in WPML->languages to all pages and posts within the site.

I tried reviewing this on the wpml site I was given access to, but I couldn't.

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to test the issue.
(preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible)

**Before we proceed It is necessary to take FULL BACKUP of your database and your website. Providing us with access, you agree that a backup has been taken **

I often use the Duplicator plugin for this purpose: http://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/
You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply.
The information you enter is private which means only you and I have access to it.

NOTE: If access to the live site is not possible and the staging site does not exist please provide me with a duplicator package created with the duplicator plugin.

Thank you,
Bobby
