Background of the issue:
I am working on a site under development where the default language is English. The site has many sections. Two of them are (Opinion and Journalism)

Symptoms:
When I click on either the Opinion or Journalism sections, the site automatically switches to the opposite language, Arabic.

Questions:
Why does the site switch languages automatically when clicking on certain sections?
How can I fix the issue of the site switching to the opposite language?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML Support. Sorry for the delay due to high workload and the reply time will be shorter from now.

I can see the issue on your site. Could you please try to follow the below steps:

1. Go to the Appearance >> Menus, choose the main menu, and re-save it and see if this resolves the issue.

2. If the issue persists, try to remove Opinion or Journalism menu items and re-add them.

3. Please re-save permalinks from the Settings >> Permalinks page by pressing the Save Changes button.

4. Try to clear all sorts of site/server/CDN cache and see if this resolves the issue.

Please let me know the results,
Thank you

Dear Noman,

Many thanks again for your ongoing help. I really appreciate it.

We have tried solution number 1 and nothing changed and the still problem persists.

We would like to try option two the following steps, but we're worried that we might lose the articles we published and they are many. This would be disastrous for us, if it happens.

Kindly advise,
Maher

Thanks for getting back to me. Removing and re-adding menu items won’t delete your articles, as it only affects the menu structure, and not the actual content. However, to stay safe, I recommend taking a full site backup first or testing the steps on a staging site if available.

Let me know how it goes or if you need help with that.

Thank you
