I have allowed types to take over a set of user custom fields from PaidMembershipPro. The problem is I need to translate them but they do not appear anywhere. They are not in strings, nor do I see anywhere to activate translations. Even performing a search in Translations returns nothing. How do I translate user custom fields which types has taken over?

Hi,

thanks for contacting us.

You'll likely need to make the fields translatable in WPML > Settings > Custom fields translation

Please understand we didn't test Paid Membership Pro plugin and addons so we can't guarantee it works with WPML. If you still have issue, please contact its support directly.

Hi. Laura,

Unfortunatly No its not there as those are post custom fields. I am talking about User Custom Fields which are not under WPML > Settings > Custom Field Translation. These user custom fields have been take over by wp-types from Toolset and since Toolset is the same company as WPML it's why I am asking this support channel instead of Paid Membership Pro. If the fields have been taken over by types and are running properly for everything I cant understand why they do not appear in my translations anywhere. They should.

Thanks

Hi There,
I hope you're doing well.

I have taken over this ticket and will try my best to explain things to you.

Kindly be informed that "Users" are not under any Post type. Therefore, it will not be possible to translate user information just like the other post types.

Now, if you have added custom fields for Users, they should be available in the "WPML > Settings > Custom Field Translation". Have you checked by clicking the "Show system fields" button below the "Custom Field Translation"? If not, please check and hope the field will appear there.

Now, to translate User Meta information, you'll need to navigate to "WPML > String Translation." Once you've activated the translation feature for User types, any information associated with users should become visible within the String Translation section. Enabling user translation should allow you to translate the custom fields for users. For comprehensive instructions, please refer to this guide: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/translating-user-meta-information-with-wpml/

If you want to translate the data added in the custom field for users, you can also follow the instructions outlined here: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/translating-user-meta-information-with-wpml/#translating-custom-user-fields

Let me know if the information above helps or if you need further assistance in this matter. I will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Prosenjit
