This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is building a new website and wants to use WPML again but is facing issues with the site key not working on the new WordPress. They are also inquiring about transferring existing translations to the new website without additional costs.
Solution:
If you're experiencing issues with your site key on a new WordPress installation, it's important to note that site keys are domain-specific. You will need to generate a new site key for your new site. If you continue to face issues, we recommend contacting us with the site link for further assistance.
Regarding the transfer of existing translations, translations cannot be transferred alone. You must transfer the default content along with their associated translations to ensure proper connection. You can use the default WordPress exporter/importer or WP All Export/Import tools. Additionally, make sure to use the WPML Export/Import addon on both sites. For more details, please refer to our guide: WPML Export and Import.

If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If further assistance is needed, please feel free to open a new support ticket.

Hello There,
Thanks for contacting WPML Support.

I understand that you're having some issues activating the key on your new site. Please note that site keys are domain-specific, meaning a key generated for one domain cannot be used on another. If you attempt to use a key from a different domain on your new site, you will encounter an error.

Could you please generate a new site key for your new site and try to activate WPML on your new site using that key?

If you continue to encounter errors, please share the link to the site where you're trying to activate the license. I will check and let you know what to do next.

Looking forward to your response.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Two things
- Its for the same domain (taggrs.io) but on another wordpress website. Do we need to generate another new key?
- Can we transfer all the existing translations (blogs etc) to the new website? We dont want to pay again for things we already paid for.

Kind regards,

Hi There,
Thank you for the update.

Please find the answers to your questions below:

- Even if the new site is a replica of another site, you will still need to generate a new site key for it.
- Translations cannot be transferred alone. You must transfer the default content and their associated translations to ensure proper connection. You can transfer content from one site to another using the default WordPress exporter/importer or WP All Export/Import. Make sure to use the WPML Export/Import addon on both sites to correctly connect the translations with the default content. Please refer to the guide below for more details about the process.

I hope the information above helps. Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance in this matter. I will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Prosenjit
