Problem:
You are experiencing an issue where the WPML plugin cannot connect to wpml.org for version and security updates. The error message 'WPML plugin cannot connect to wpml.org' suggests that network or security settings might be preventing communication.
Solution:
First, ensure that your WPML plugin and add-ons are updated to the latest version, 4.6.14. You can check the latest versions under My Account -> Downloads. If updates are not visible, click the 'Check for updates' button in the Plugins → Add New Plugin → Commercial tab.
Next, try deactivating all other plugins except WPML to see if another plugin is causing the issue. If the problem persists, follow these steps:
1. Go to Plugins → Add New and select the Commercial tab. Click 'Unregister WPML from this site'.
2. After the page loads, click on 'Register WPML'. You will be prompted to enter a site key. Click on 'Get a key for this site'.
3. Complete the site key wizard in your WPML account and set it to 'Production site'.
4. Copy your new key and paste it in the Commercial tab. Afterwards, you can delete your old site key in the WPML account.
