We've come across another issue recently when trying to translate a post. When using the WPML Translation Editor to add a translation, nothing happens.
I'll give a step by step
1. Create and save post/page/product
2. Click on the + symbol in the "WPML Translation Editor"
3. Go through the translation page and once it at 100% click the "Complete Translation"
4. Translation page closes and brings you back to the original post/page/product

No new post has been created in the language that it was just translated to.
If you check the Translation Management page, the page that was just "translated" will show the gear icon with the "Waiting for translator" tooltip. Clicking on the icon and going through the translation process again does not change anything. No page is created, and the gear icon stays in place.

If you go to the Translations page it will say either "Needs Translation" or "In Progress".

I have canceled the job and tried again multiple times. I have deleted the original post and started fresh. I have cleared the WPML cache. Searched the forums and tried anything that was suggested. Nothing has worked so far.

One thing that has been working without issue is duplicating the page. I actually did this as a bit of a work around. Duplicated to a second language, went into the duplicated post and chose to translate independently. Manually did the translations in the wordpress editor. After if you look on the original post it shows it a translation, but its still listed as "In Progress"

I deployed the site to my localhost and disabled all the plugins apart from WPML.

I also cleaned wp-config.php from Pantheon references.

In this case it works for me:

In your site, does it work if you try with WPML and String Translation only? Make sure they are updated to the latest versions - 4.7.2 for WPML that is.
