[Resolved] We have a custom Theme which is not optimised for wpml

This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.

Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.

We have a custom Theme which is not optimised for wpml (no conifg file). Now I try to add the config via the settings. Sadly the don't have any effect.

you have been inactive for some time, so lets continue in ticket.

Please go to this website: hidden link

Install the theme and create 1 page with a dummy short example and 2 widgets that you wish to translate.

Let me know steps you did and how can I see the issue.

I am afraid I would need you to show me an example in a simple example with a WP default theme and or a theme that is commercial.

We can not support or debug issues with custom-built themes / custom code as I think it is your case, for such we advise hiring WPML contractors:

If you think there is a WPML bug, we would still need you to show us a bug in the simple minimal environment mentioned above.

I think its a bug because the changes in the xml wpml settings have no effect

sure, but to exclude it is caused by custom code, which I believe is is and as I said before, you will need to show us an simple example with WP default theme and compatible plugins. We can not debug issues with custom code and custom-developed themes.

If you can reproduce such and shows a bug, let me know and I can provide a new test site.

But WPML says in the documentation that its possible via the xml config to translate custom themes ore themes that aren't optimised for wpml. And this is not working.

Hello,

it is possible and should work, and from first glance, your XML code looks fine. So you should test with the WP default theme and with only WPML plugins to exclude any issue caused by custom code, and follow our docs for ACF, ACF blocks and etc.
