Hello I recently bought the Lifetime package – but I have a question bout the “Unlimited Website part” what does this mean exactly? I create WordPress sites for different clients, does this mean I can use my lifetime membership on multiple sites?
Hi there, exactly! You pay only once and you can use your WPML plugin for all the sites you are building. That’s exactly what we mean by ‘unlimited’, so you got it right! 🙂 Enjoy.
Hello, I wonder if with WPML I can have a page on my website with a different layout? For example, the homepage?
If the main language of my website is french, can I write a post only in the second language? (german).
Or should I write all the contenc in the main language and have to translate everything?
If a page is not translated, does the website show the non-transleted page?
Hi Florian,
yes, it is recommended to translate everything. I saw hundred of websites which contain “mixed” content but this is not the right way to go. I even classified it as one of the biggest mistakes for multilingual sites. (If you are interested in details, please watch my presentation at wordpress.tv or see the slides).
And now let me explain the reasons behind. The purpose of making a site multilingual is to attract more customers. It will be search engines (as Google) which will bring in the traffic for your multilingual site. To make it happen, the site needs to be index well. And for good indexing Google first needs to determine each subpage language. Each particular subpage of your site will be indexed. So each particular subpage must be clear enough to Google to index it in one language only. This is why you shouldn’t mix the languages. Google will try to recognize your page language analyzing the content (Google ignores all the source code language indications).
Here you will find detailed Google’f official directives about this:
About handling languages without translation. In WPM settings you will find these two options:
How to handle languages without translation
Some pages or posts may not be translated to all languages. Select how the language selector should behave in case translation is missing.
– Skip language
– Link to home of language for missing translations
Sorry, this is no longer possible: to have the same slugs for different languages in different domains in the same time. I confirmed it with our WPML developers.
Ok, that’s clear but am I allowed to sell the site I am building? Sell it to 3rd party.
For example, can I sell default WordPress install with WPML installed?
My client wants a translation in about 10-16 languages for his websites (tourist based).
I get how the standard pages/post will work, but for the menu I have a question.
The menu will consist out of images/icons and will also need to be translated (manually ofcourse).
The way I see it is that it is only possible to add this menu as part of a page/post and have a small to no header. OR is the header.php part of this plugin and could I just have different menu’s in each translation.
The type of menu/icon used for the header is a coordinates “map/image”
Hi Ronald,
you define your menu in your WordPress dashboard and then it depends on your theme where each of your menus (if you have more than one) will be displayed. So it is up to you where you will display your menu within your site. WPML will create a copy of your menu per each language to allow you to manage it from within your WordPress dashboard.
Please note that you can use one WPML license for all the sites you are building so even if it doesn’t work perfectly with your current site you can use it for all other as well.
Hi, if your subscription is still active, please log into your WPML account and you will find the link. Yes, you will pay the difference only in this case but in dollars, not euros.
You will need CMS or Lifetime license. The blog version doesn’t contain all needed components to create an online store. Here is a list of all needed plugins:
I would like to try WPML for a day or a week before I purchase, to see if it suits our needs. I know you have a 30day money back guarentee, but i need to convince management first, before I can buy.
We don’t have a free demo version, I’m sorry. But We are also the authors of Toolset pugins. And some of our Toolset demo sites (which are available for free) use WPML.
Please go here: http://discover-wp.com/
and choose one of these:
Bootstrap Real Estate
Bootstrap Commerce
they use WPML. This way you will be able to see WPML in action.
If you need to test it with your theme, the only option that remains is to use our purchase policy you mentioned.
When WPML is installed and the site is translated into a different language, what happens if the translation has grammar or spelling errors? Am I able to go in and fix those errors?
Also, I read through many of the support threads and found one of my favorite themes to use, Avada, doesn’t have default set up so there are extra steps to take in using the plugin. Are there highly recommended themes that work well with this plugin? I haven’t purchased a theme to use yet and I would like to purchase a theme that runs smoothly with WPML.
Hi Beau,
Please note that WPML doesn’t translate your contents automatically. WPML provides you an interface allowing to translate all your WordPress elements: posts, pages, menus, tags, categories, custom post types, custom fields, different strings etc. So WPML makes you WordPress site multilingual but doesn’t translate your contents. To translate your texts you have to possibilities:
1. To provide the translations yourself
2. To send a post/page to our professional translators from ICanLocalize service. This is integrated with WPML so you can do this directly from your WordPress admin and you also receive it directly to your WordPress.
Here you will see a video how it works: http://www.icanlocalize.com/site/services/wordpress-translation/
I’m looking at WPML for my site for both English and Japanese. However, the datetime formats between the two languages are different. Does WPML account for that?
Hi Andrew,
if your theme handles the date formats correctly (for example uses the functions like number_format_i18(), date_i18n() your dates will display ok for each languages. So the point is that the theme you are using should be prepare to handle dates the right way.
Ok, thank you for that. I’m using the Avada theme and I see from their website that the Avada developers have worked with WPML developers to create a theme that works with WPML. My main target with this is ensuring that Japanese readers will be able to read my site with ease, including the datetime format.
I will consult with Theme Fusion about the functions.
Before i buy i wanted to clarify, i noticed in your video there is the ability to set up a drop down menu, then switch languages.
Can that be setup for each page of the site? What i am after is the ability for members that use English as a 2nd language but help them by finding something that they can simply click and it changes each page into their preferred language.
I am not after anything to make a new page in another language, i want something like Google translate (Google translate sucks IMO)
Also how good is the translation? Will a native really be able to work out the translation as the primary language be English but i have some members who are German and Spanish and i don’t want to cause them more problems by having a poor translation.
> Can that be setup for each page of the site?
Yes, you define your language switcher once and it will display on all of your pages (or most of them, depending where you will add insert it). For example, if you add your language switcher to your site header (or main menu) or to your footer it will appear on all of your pages. If you add your language switcher to your sidebar as a widget, it will appear on the pages which have a sidebar (like for example blog articles).
> Also how good is the translation?

Hi again,
we should have sent your a reminder 30 days before and we didn’t. Sorry for this. We manually extended your account for one more week, you can extend it now using discount offer.
My Q is:

I can’t see the option the renew it, only there is option for purchasing a new one.

Hi, we have been here since 2007 and we don’t plan to quit 🙂 Read more about our company: http://www.onthegosystems.com/
Our WPML development team is big and we have a lot of plans to make WPML even better. But life is unpredictable so I cannot give you the official warranty for the next 5 years. 🙂
Hello, my version expired and we are having problems with wpml media plugin, we cannot upload any images – so I came in to renew the package and it is not possible anymore. Then we decided to buy the lifetime support, but the checkout process is not working, nothing shows. I can initially see the items, but then it disappears.
By the way, we did not receive a reminder to renew the account, and I already saw above you had this issue before. Could you kindly extend it so we can renew the package? Thank you.
Hi there, your subscription was extended till the end of this month. Now you can extend it using the discount. We apologize for not sending you the notification emails.
Hi, let us check your case in our system. If we didn’t send you a reminder indeed, we will extend your subscription for a week or so and you will be able to extend it with the discount price. I will keep you posted.
Jan. 7th we (Surplus Trading) pay $ 195 for Multilingual CMS Lifetime, but since that moment we did not hear anything. No login details, nothing. Please inform us.
Hi there,
you should have received an activation email immediately. Please make sure if it’s not in your spam folder. In the meantime we will check your case in the system to see what’s happened.
I was about to buy the WPML extension, but i am going to buy it with a personal card, and i need the invoice to be sent with my company information. I didn’t see that option available.
Hi Vitor,
did you try to do it using a different browser? In the meantime we will test with our developers it but is seems to work for me from what I can see now.
I’ve tried in Safari and Chrome and in two different machines, both macs, one with the latest OSX Yosemite and the other with OSX Mavericks, and this problem happens in both.
I’ve just got it! I managed to finish my purchase on Chrome, but in Safari it wasn’t working quite yet – when I clicked on “proceed to PayPal” the page stopped responding, just to let you know.
Thanks for the help.

Can I use a plugin to achieve the next version of the address structure for the various versions of the site:
Language1: http://site1.com/category1/post1/
Language2: http://site2.com/category1/post1/
Ie the adress structure was identical pages for different language versions.
Hi, you can easily achieve this:
lang1.site.com/category1/post1/
lang2.site.com/category1/post1/
or this:
site.com/lang1/category1/post1/
site.com/lang2/category1/post1/
but to achieve this:
http://site1.com/category1/post1/
http://site2.com/category1/post1/
you will need to map domains:
http://wpml.org/documentation/essential-multilingual-plugins/multilingual-site-network-with-domain-mapping/
I know it.
But I ask about similar address structure on different domains.
I need this one:
Language1: http://site1.com/category1/post1/
Language2: http://site2.com/category1/post1/
Don’t need this:
Language1: http://site1.com/category1/post1/
Language2: http://site2.com/category1-ln/post1-ln/
This is possible with WPML plugin?
Sorry, this is no longer possible: to have the same slugs for different languages in different domains in the same time. I confirmed it with our WPML developers.
What does this lifetime, unlimited really means?
Can I re-sell WPML (for example $9.99)?
Can I re-sell WordPress+WPML (for example $9.99)?
Can I give away free WPML or WordPress+WPML?
It means that you can use it for all the sites you are building but you cannot resell it.
Ok, that’s clear but am I allowed to sell the site I am building? Sell it to 3rd party.
For example, can I sell default WordPress install with WPML installed?

How can I upgrade to CMS version and pay the difference, 50 euros?
Thank you!
Hi, if your subscription is still active, please log into your WPML account and you will find the link. Yes, you will pay the difference only in this case but in dollars, not euros.
Hi,
I am very much interested in WPML to build my blog and a Woo Commerce Shop with two languages.
Which license would I need for that? I am a small handmade business, selling my own products.
Thank you in advance 🙂
Natascha
Hi Natascha,
thanks for your question.
You will need CMS or Lifetime license. The blog version doesn’t contain all needed components to create an online store. Here is a list of all needed plugins:
http://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/#1
It would be best to choose a theme which supports WooCommerce and Multilingual. Here are some themes which work well with our WooCommerce Multilingual (we tested it):
http://marketblog.envato.com/envatos-most-wanted/winners-wpml-woocommerce-wordpress-themes/
You can also read this case study. This girl built a WooCommerce Multilingual store successfully with the famous Avada theme:
http://wpml.org/2014/03/build-online-store-different-languages-wordpress-wpml/
Of course you can use any other theme.

I don’t need to see the result, only see if and how it works in the dashboard with our theme 🙂 but thank you anyway for replying.
This site I gave you a link for will allow you to test WPML from the dashboard.
Hi Agnes,
my apologies, I did not realize I could also work in the dashboard to try it out 🙂 Thank you for this.
The list of compatible themes, http://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/ is this the complete list? If not, how can I check if my theme is compatible?
When WPML is installed and the site is translated into a different language, what happens if the translation has grammar or spelling errors? Am I able to go in and fix those errors?
Also, I read through many of the support threads and found one of my favorite themes to use, Avada, doesn’t have default set up so there are extra steps to take in using the plugin. Hi Ivvo, yes, you always pay the difference, both when you migrate from Blog to CMS and from CMS to Lifetime.
Hi,
I am trying to purchase WPML Multilingual CMS. The price says 79 EUR, then when I check out, it says 79 EUR. Then, when I click on any other currency and back to euro, I get 71,18 EUR, when the conversion at this moment is 66,65 EUR.
Could you clarify this?

Can I have two versions of English with this plugin? British and American?
Also, if using WooCommerce, are all currencies processed in the base currency when payment is made?
Hi Craig,
yes, you can set two versions of English: British and American.
For WooCommerce you can set one currency or different currencies.
Just to be totally clear. If i have multiple woo commerce currencies, say USD, GBP, EUR. But GBP is my base currency.
If somebody shops in USD and checks out as USD, does this convert back to GBP to be sent to the payment processor, or is it sent in USD?
Hello. If I buy “Multilingual Blog” (29$) I get plugin “WPML Multilingual CMS”? Or need buy “Multilingual CMS” (79$)? Thanks for reply.

Could you please resend the login information to my real address?
