  1. Hello,

we plan an online-shop with woocommerce and want to offer products in CH DE AT LI. All the county languages are german, but they have different currencies and taxes. And wie also want to charge different delivery prices.

    Does WPML cover our needs?

    Thanks for answering.
    Chris

    • Hi Chris,
yes, it does, but delivery prices will be converted using the exchange rates (you can’t enter custom prices for the time being)

  2. I have not found the answer to my main question:

Your plugin provides a full translation of Canvas from WooThemes backend and frontend

If yes, then I buy your plugin. If not then I will refrain from buying.

Which version of the plugin for that I need

    kind regards

    Taras

    • Hi Taras,
thanks for your question. I replied but in Russian so maybe it wasn’t clear enough. I asked you ‘what do you mean by translation for back-end?’. Probably it was a bad translation because of my poor Russian. Sorry for that.

You need CMS version (or Lifetime).

Please notice that if you buy WPML and you doesn’t like it, you can ask for refund:

  3. We’re looking into using WPML for our first bilingual website and will be building the theme for it. A couple of questions:

    * What is required to make the theme WPML compatible?
    * Is the Pods plugin compatible with WPML?
    * How easy is it to change the dropdown language selector box on the public facing site to a link that switches between the same of only two languages? That is, English to French and French to English.

    Thank you for your time.

    • Hi Cindy, thank you for your interest in WPML. I’ll be happy to answer your questions.

      1. In a nut shell, it depends on the theme. If your theme is simple, probably it is already WPML compatible. If however your theme has a lot of so called custom options, probably it needs a ‘special treatment’. In technical words it means the presence of so called WPML config file. You can read more here:
      http://wpml.org/documentation/support/language-configuration-files/
If the theme’s author joined our compatibility program, his/her theme probably includes such a file and you don’t have to bother.
This is a list of themes compatible with WPML:
      http://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/

If a theme is not listed here, it might be WPML compatible or not, we simply didn’t test it. Even if it is not compatible, you will still be able to translate: posts, pages, menus, tags, categories, custom post types, custom fields, taxonomies, different strings etc without any problems. The tricky part are only the theme specific elements.

      2. I cannot see the Pods plugin on our plugin compatibility list
      http://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/
but this only mean that we didn’t test it. It doesn’t mean that it is not WPML compatible.

      3. We call it a language switcher. WPML will create it automatically for you for all the languages you previously defined with WPML. WPML provides you with two options which allow you to insert this switcher for your sideabar or footer with a few clicks. If, however you want it to be included somewhere else, for example, in your header you need to update your header.php file with a line of code (you will find that line in WPML settings as well).

Please note that WPML doesn’t translate your content automatically.

  4. Hi,
I’m searching for a plugin which can help me solve so problems with my site.
My site is in english and in portuguese language (http://www.alanaandkyra.com/).
In order to solve a translation problem, I decided to create two posts each time I create a new one: one in english and one in portuguese, on separate pages, as you can see http://www.alanaandkyra.com/feeling-red/ and http://www.alanaandkyra.com/feeling-red-pt/

So anyone who subscribes my newsletter receive two of them each time I post – one in english and another in portuguese.

Besides that, in my bloglovin account (http://www.bloglovin.com/blogs/alana-kyra-13006845) the posts appear twice and seem to be the same (sometimes, even the title is the same),so the users may seem confused with it.

So, I’m trying to solve this problem.
I want to have the post in the two languages on separate pages but at the same time, I don’t want my subscribers receive twice the post either in the newsletter or to see it twice on the bloglovin.

Can this plugin solve my problem?

    Thanks for your help.

    • Hi Carla,
thank you for your questions and your interest in WPML. WPML lets you separate the posts. So your posts won’t get mixed any longer. But this applies only to your posts management in your WordPress dahsboard and displaying them in your site’s front-end. But I don’t know how you are handling the subscriptions. Are you using a plugin for this? What is its name?

      • Hi Agnes,

Thank you for your quick response. I would like to make my question more clear.

Current problem: I have a blog written in two languages where I post in portuguese and english:
        – archives for the english version (EN) of the posts: http://www.alanaandkyra.com/lifestyle/
        – archives for the portuguese version (PT) of the posts: http://www.alanaandkyra.com/portuguese-version/
        – Currently, the reader doens’t see the PT and EN version repeated on the website because our homepage only displays the EN version of the posts. This was the way we managed to make it look like a “latest posts” page.

Consequences of this problem on the rss feed (http://feeds.feedburner.com/alanaandkyra):
        – as you can see, the rss feed shows evidence that we are making two posts – one in english (EN) and one in portuguese (PT) (the posts’ content only vary in the language).
        – Newsletter of our posts: this same problem also happen when our posts are send to our subscribers. They always receive the two versions of the post – PT and EN.
        – Bloglovin: bloglovin shows evidence that we are publishing two posts – PT and EN. http://www.bloglovin.com/blogs/alana-kyra-13006845

Although this is not clear for the reader when he enters our website, this affects the way the reader sees our feed on bloglovin, newsletters and rss feed.

        Question:
        – Will the wpml plugin solve this issue of having PT and EN version of the same post appearing on our rss feed?
        – How will wpml plugin impact our rss feed? Example: imagine you are a reader navigating on our EN page. If you click on our rss feed, what will appear on your screen? Only EN posts, or you will also see the PT version of the post? And on our Bloglovin? And on our Newsletters?

Thank you for your help. I really hope this plugin can provide us a solution!

        • Hi Carla,
thanks for providing me with more details.

Yes, with WPML you should solve all your problems, for sure to present latest posts in English in your homepage and after switching to Portuguese version, all recent Portuguese posts. The same with RSS. If your visitor is browsing the English version of your blog and she will wants to see the RRS feed, only posts in English will be accessible. The same rules apply for Portuguese version. So this works how you expect.

I still know how are you handling newsletters. If you are using FeedBurner these instruction will help:
          http://wpml.org/2009/06/multilingual-feedburner-feeds-and-newsletters/

Once you purchase your WPML, you can freely ask all sort of question in our support forum. They will help you with proper configuration if you have any doubts.

  5. Hello,

I’m setting up a website for my Real Estate Agency.

I have secured the name of my company as a .com, .in, .de, .cn, .co.za, .co.nz, .co.uk, and .com.au

I would like my agents to add their listings in English but when someone comes in from Germany for example, I would like them to see the site in German. I do not want them to have to select German as a language.

Will your software allow me to do this?

Will I need to have 8 separate wordpress installs on each of the domains or can I have one wordpress install that all the domain names point to and the customers see different languages based on the domain they came from?

    Look forward to your reply.

    Thank you.

    • Hello,
Thanks for you question. It is still not clear for me if you want each of your domain in two languages (both in English and German). I’m also not sure if all of the domains you are listing point to the same site. Please note that WPML doesn’t translate your content automatically. So if you want your site in more than one language you need to provide the translations for your contents.

I would like my agents to add their listings in English but when someone comes in from Germany for example, I would like them to see the site in German. I do not want them to have to select German as a language.

So the agents are your site’s editors, right? ‘when someone comes in from Germany” – here you mean your site’s front-end visitors, right?
WPML provides you with and allows you to enable an option which will redirect your visitor to the page in their language. This is set according to your visitor’s browser settings. Please look at slides 6 and 8 of this presentation. But you should still keep the language switcher for many other reasons listed in this presentation.

  6. Hi – I have bought the $79 license on several occasions and am no considering buying the lifetime license because it’s such great software 🙂

Can I get a discount on the upgrade?

  8. Hi,
I was trying to purchase the plug-in and couldn’t go beyond the page ‘place your order’. The page is simply stuck after I have filled in my details.
    Thanks

  9. Hi,

I have a version of WPML that needs to be updated. I did not install WPML on my site so I am not familiar with this product. How would I go about updating WPML? Is there a lot of other stuff that goes with it?

Someone told me that if you purchase an update you get all sorts of files that are impossible to install using the plug-in installer in wordpress. They also said it is impossible to tell which ones you really need.

    THanks,

    Sarah

    • Hi Sarah,
thanks for your questions. So you need to update WPML which was installed in the past in your customer’s site, don’t you? In order to update WPML you need to have an active WPML subscription. If your customer has a valid WPML account you can ask him/her for the credentials. If this is not possible, you will have to purchase your own license. With an active subscription you can ask all sorts of technical questions in our support forum. So if you have any doubts how to proceed with installation, upgrading or which plugins to use, feel free to ask our forum experts. They are there to help you.

  10. Hi,
I’ve just renewed my WPML license Key but do not see where to update it in my wordpress plugin?

    Thank you.
    Best regards.

  11. Hello!

I have a few pre-sales questions: 1. Is your WPML easier to setup and use than Polylang (https://polylang.wordpress.com) plugin? Also, does it offer somethings, that Polylang doesn’t?

    2. Does WPML capable of translating pages where content is inserted via shortcodes? Like registration page, or contact forms (or any other forms that can’t be multiple times created and/or also can be edited on front-end) and etc?

    3. If I understood correctly, WPML can translate wordpress admin and plugin pages in wordpress admin dashboard?

    Thanks
    N

    • Hello,

Is your WPML easier to setup and use than Polylang

I don’t know how easy Polylang is but ‘intuitiveness’ – this is one of the features WPML is famous for: a super easy setup.

Also, does it offer somethings, that Polylang doesn’t?

      1. Support help (there are a few full time experienced supporters working here to solve your problems.
      2. You can use the same slugs in URL for different languages (for example ‘blog’, this words is the same in different languages).
      3. Theme compatibility. WPML powers 500 000 sites in the world. There are a lot of themes fully WPML compatible.

Does WPML capable of translating pages where content is inserted via shortcodes?

This has little to do with the way how content is inserted but if the functionality behind a shortcode was coded. If good programming practices were applied, it should work. By the way, we are the author of the Views plugin. All the output generated by this plugin are lines of shortcodes. It is fully WPML compatible.

If I understood correctly, WPML can translate wordpress admin and plugin pages in wordpress admin dashboard?

Yes, in WPML you can select WordPress Dashboard language independently of the front-end language – if this was your questions… For plugin pages – if your plugin is provided with po/mo files for all strings appearing in your wordPress admin, you should see them in your language set with WordPress.

  12. Also, to previous questions.

We have listings website, and people can register and submit their listings from front-end, so the question is: using WPML is it possible to make so that people can add and edit on multiple languages from front-end?

    Thanks
    N

    • Hi Sławek, WPML will automatically check for updates and can also automatically install its different components on your sites. For this, you will need to register WPML and connect it with your account on wpml.org. Please follow this guide to find our more:

  13. Good morning,
about a year ago we bought a subscription for the Multilingual CMS but never downloaded it, as we needed it for future development. Now that we need it I can’t seem to download it. Is there no way to download what was bought at the time? I understand that we can’t download new versions of it, but at least could we not have what was available for up to the subscription expiration?
    Thank you
    Best regards

    • Hello,
I’m sorry but you need to have an active subscription to access any of WPML plugins (both current and old versions). This is how it works and we explain it in the Purchase section:

“Please note that a valid account is required to download any WPML version. ”
      http://wpml.org/purchase/

  14. Hi Agnes – I have bought the $79 license on several occasions and am now considering buying the lifetime license because it’s such great software 🙂

Can I get a discount on the upgrade?

    Thanks.

    • Hi John,
thanks for your nice words. If your WPML account is still active you can purchase Lifetime by paying only the difference. Please log into your WPML account and use a relevant link to upgrade to Lifetime.

  15. Hello,

Before I purchase I need to know a few things about WPML Multilingual
    CMS.
Does it support Woocommerce and how does it handle it? Does it change the text in a product or does it make a translated version of the product?
Same question for pages and posts.

  16. You’ve a serious bug in your cart processign page. I’m trying to buy the $29 version of the plugin and after I’ve been put the item in the cart and clicked the “View Cart” button I’m redirected to the /purchase page.

No checkout link at all! No way to complete the purchase.

This is absolutely non-sense to me.

  17. Hi,

I want to buy the “Multilingual CMS Lifetime” product, but I can’t, because the checkout shows no products in my Shopping cart.

I need your product very soon. How can I buy it directly?

    Thank you.

    Kind regards
    Chris

  18. There is no way to purchase anything, the view cart button does not work (recycles to the purchase page), and no way to login to create an account.

Can we buy the lifetime version some way?

    • You will be able to purchase it, I will let you know (I can even email you directly) as soon as this is fixed. We do apologize.

  19. Hi !
Is there a number for support ?
I have a client who paid for a license with their previous and now uncontactable, web developer.
The site is Suemathys.com we need to update the plugin but as she has purchased a license once it seems wasteful to have to purchase it in full version again. Is there any way she can just pay the renewal fee.

    • Hi!
The owner of the WPML license is the person who purchased it. This person has access to WPML account. You should purchase the licence anew in order to have access to new releases and to our support.

  20. Hello,

I would like to use WPML to translate my site and Gravity forms.
I’ve read there is a WPML addon for Gravity forms, but is this one free to download after I buy WPML?

    Kind regards,
    Tommy

    • Hi,
if you buy WPML Multilingual CMS or Lifetime subsription you will have access to all complementary addons (plugins). You will find them all under the ‘downloads’ section in your WPML account.

  21. Hello,

I’m looking to potentially buy this plugin for a client’s website. Depending on the language some items on the website change.

Let’s say I’m in the UK and I navigate to that region’s site and I see items that are available to that specific region/country. I select Portuguese and I get Portuguese listings.

Is this something that wpml can do?

    • Hi Amanda,
normally WPML let you translate all posts into next languages. So you will see the exact items in each language version of your site but the names will be translated. But WPML also lets you leave some items untranslated and allow to create items in the second language without the necessity of having them in the site default language. This way you can create your posts (you can use the regular WordPress posts or custom post types, WPML supports them both) with content relevant to your specific region.

  22. Hi there,

I just purchased the Lifetime version of Multilingual CMS. Unfortunately I made a typo when entering my email address and so I did not receive the receipt or the login details for my account, and therefore can’t access the support forum to help with fixing my mistake. Could you please assist? I can give you the invoice# and transaction# from the payment confirmation page.

    Many thanks!
