Hello, I have a couple of questions:
1. Using Wpml is it possible to translate pages or forms in multiple languages in the same step? Or I would have to repeat the translation process for every single language?
2. Does Wpml creates complete new pages and forms for each added language? If I make changes to the english (main page) as far as links and the structure of the site, are these changes carried on to each language page or will I have to make this changes manually to each language page?
Hello,
1. Yes, you translate your content for each language independently.
2. Yes, WPML will create a new post/page/category/tag if you translate them to another languages, each copy per language. So if you have 50 pages and you want to trasnlate all of them to 2 other languages you will have 150 pages in total. About links. It depends what links are we talking about. In your WordPress site there are different kinds of links. For example a menu is a set of links. If you make any changes in your original language WPML will indicate that something has changed and your translation needs an update. But if you have a link included inside your contents, for example in the post body and you change it, the same link included in the translation won’t change. For links coming from your site you can consider using the sticky links add-on (you will find it in WPML CMS/Lifetime package) https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/sticky-links/

Hi we are currently looking if we want to use wmpl or sepparate websites for our project but i do have a few questions:
we are working with the elagant themes Divi theme, i do see some old post of problems, is this theme atm fully compatible including the builder?
difference in website setup supported:
for example our main website has a blog but our english & german websites do not have a blog, is there a way to hide these elements on the english & german websites. (or even change layouts)
means that we didn’t test it. So it might work or you might have some issues. For such cases we recommend you to buy the plugin and test it yourself. This is why we have the refunds policy: https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
so in case your are not satisfied, we will refund your order.
The theme is compatible:
X Blog, e-commerce THEMECO Compatible with WPML
So, if it is compatible will navigation menus will be translated throughout the site?
If the theme is compatible and if you translate the elements you plan to include in your menu (pages, posts, categories) they will be translated based on the translated titles of particulate pages/posts/elements. You can also adjust the menu items manually as well.
I’m looking to buy WPML for my wordpress site, but load time and performance is critical for me!
After reading some comments, it looks like your WPML plugin slows down (around +2 seconds) the website, even after disabling “track where string appear on the site” & “auto-register strings for translation”.
1. Is this a common issue?
2. What kind of slow down (in seconds) should I expect when using WPML plugin?
Please note that I will use WPML only for English/French sites. So no more than 2 languages will be available on the same site at the same time.
The final result however depends on variety of different factors, so performance issues will vary from site to site. I would recommend you to buy WPML, install it and test yourself on your specific site. If you encounter any performance issues you can debug it yourself and this article will be helpful https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-debug-performance-problems/
Menus are translated throughout the site. If you have your pages translated the menu will be generated automatically for each language and you can adjust it manually.
When I make a translation adjustment for the menu will I have to do for every single page or will it know to use the adjusted translation throughout the site?
Thank you.
Lana
From what I saw from the comments, I conclude:
1. If I buy WPML for my blog, I am able to give translators a job to translate my blog.
2. If I buy WPML, I can download it while my account still active, if I don’t plan to renew, then my WPML still works fine but can’t download the plugin anymore.
My confusions are based on:
1. Am I able to use WPML plugin without their premium support to translate the blog myself? (just download the plugin and do the translate my own)
2. If I don’t renew my account, will WPML affect any content?
3. I downloaded the WPML and keep the file, and I’m not renewing it. I still have my WPML file, what’s the point?
Please do clear me up for this problems.. Thanks for your time.
Hi,
I’m impressed with the investigation you made.
1. If I buy WPML for my blog, I am able to give translators a job to translate my blog.
That’s right
2. If I buy WPML, I can download it while my account still active, if I don’t plan to renew, then my WPML still works fine but can’t download the plugin anymore.
That’s right providing you are still using the same WordPress version you used when WPML was last updated. We cannot predict what will happend with future WordPress releases.
1. Am I able to use WPML plugin without their premium support to translate the blog myself? (just download the plugin and do the translate my own)
Yes, you can.
If you use WPML for your multilingual site, you have three options to translate your contents:
1. Do this manually – copy from the documents your customer has provided and paste translations directly into your WordPress. This is a simple process but a very time-consuming one.
2. Send your content to your own translators via XLIFF files. WPML Translation Management module helps you here.
3. Send your content to a professional translation. Completed translations appear automatically in your site. No manual work is needed.
2. If I don’t renew my account, will WPML affect any content?
If the WPML plugin is still active – no. But if you disable the plugin all your posts including the posts in different languages will be listed together. Of course you can always delete the translations.
3. I downloaded the WPML and keep the file, and I’m not renewing it. I still have my WPML file, what’s the point?
You can still use it. But you won’t access our support forum any more and you won’t have access to WPML future releases.
Hi,
I have a few questions before making the purchase.
1) Is WPML compatible with Revelance Theme?
2) I wish to use WPML to add on Chinese language for the current English site, is there a way to manipulate such that while I am working the WPML, user don’t see the translated site in progress?
3) Does WPML works with WooCommerce?
Are you talking about this theme: https://flexithemes.com/demo/Relevance/
If so, it wasn’t tested by our Compatibility Team, so I cannot give you the warranty that it everything will go smoothly
2) I wish to use WPML to add on Chinese language for the current English site, is there a way to manipulate such that while I am working the WPML, user don’t see the translated site in progress?
Until you include the language switcher they won’t know that some posts/pages are translated.
We are thinking about purchasing your plugin, but we have a few concerns / questions:
We operate in three countries, Netherlands, Belgium and France. Our Belgium website is available in Dutch and French, but the content differs from the Netherlands and France, so we treat them as separate languages.
If I’m correct this plugin creates a new page/post etc. for each translation, so content can differ per country and per language. For Belgium we could create separate languages as in Belgium Dutch and Belgium French so we can display different content. Each language can work with its own menu’s, widgets, tags etc. Is this correct?
So translations cannot be made through a single page/post etc., but are translations linked together and can they easily be accessed through one main language (the default language for example)? Or are they in fact separate pages/posts and found separate in the backend (so 4 homepages for our different countries/languages)?
We want to work with a subdirectory setup. Can you set the names of the subdirectory yourself or is this automated? What we want to do is name the country and the language because of the double languages in Belgium, so /nl-nl/ and /nl-be/, /fr-be/ and /fr-fr/.
Each language can work with its own menu’s, widgets, tags etc. Is this correct?
Yes.
Or are they in fact separate pages/posts and found separate in the backend (so 4 homepages for our different countries/languages)?
Yes, translations are separate pages/posts. So, yes, if your homepage is a regular WP page set as homepage (in WP settings) you will have a few copies of it, each per language.
We want to work with a subdirectory setup. Can you set the names of the subdirectory yourself or is this automated? What we want to do is name the country and the language because of the double languages in Belgium, so /nl-nl/ and /nl-be/, /fr-be/ and /fr-fr/.
Hello, I have a website that need to be translated into 3 languages. But first, I need to know if can i also translate files revolution slider, and other pluggins eg (where tables have names in columns and rows) Thanks!
Hello, I am trying to purchase your product, but the form seems to be cut off and there is no way I can make the purchase. I tried yesterday but got an error. Now when I try there is no where to enter my CC info or proceed past the first page where I enter my name and email address. Please help. I need to download this today if possible.
thank you,
Hi India, what browser do you use and on which system? Did you try other browsers? I cannot replicate your issue. Please use this contact form to send more details, somebody will contact you via email and this way you will be able to share some screenshots if needed.
I’m attempting to proceed with purchase of the Lifetime package but the shopping cart is not working – it only allows me to enter my name and country but does not proceed to order details. Please help!
When I make a translation adjustment for the menu will I have to do for every single page or will it know to use the adjusted translation throughout the site?
Thank you.
Lana
Hello, I am trying to buy your product but cannot because there is a bug on your website. I want to purchase the “Lifetime” version. Your website will not allow me to fill out the form (although it was there yesterday). I also cannot figure out how to register so I can leave a question in the “members only” forum. How are you supposed to become a member if there is no button to register? Furthermore, I tried to leave a comment here on this page earlier today and now it is gone! I am very frustrated and need someone to help me please. Thank you.
Hi India, your comment was waiting for moderation. I have just replied and notified our admins to check this. But since I cannot replicate your issue we do need more info from you about your browser and your operating system.
Hello, I see it is working when I go there in Firefox, but still broken in Safari. Also, you don’t make it very easy to buy your product. I just spent like 20 minutes trying to pay, and finally resorted to PayPal because of your extreme security measures which required me to create a new account with my bank and some new security feature, which never did work so I’m feeling quite uneasy about this entire transaction.
But…. now that I’ve made the purchase, I hope my poor experience stops here. If not, do you have a phone number of someone there I can contact for support? I don’t see a single phone number on your entire site, which is very poor customer service. You are probably missing out on lots of sales if it’s this hard for most people. And I consider myself to be fairly computer savvy (I build websites). Geeze Louise!
Hi India, I’m so glad you finally managed to purchase WPML. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I will share it with right people here. You cannot contact us by phone but we do have a support forum: https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/
We have forgotten the password to our account and the problem is that our domain name has changed. it used to be @tsweaq.com but now it’s @voltlab.com so we cannot access our email that we used to subscribe. Is there anyone that can help us access our account? Many thanks!
I know it is possible to integrate Visual Composer and WPML. Is it possible to just translate a section on a page, as we only want one paragraph to have flags above it that when clicked on change the language of the paragraph. We do not want the full page to be translated.
Normally you include the langue switcher in the header, sidebar of in your footer and this why it will be accessible throughout the site. So it will be difficult to include the langue switcher in one element instead. But even you manage do this I wouldn’t recommend you to follow this path. Why? Because for search engines it is important to have one langueage per each page. You can read more about it here: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2010/03/working-with-multilingual-websites.html
On the other hand, when you translate layouts designed with page builders such as Visual Composer you have to recreate the whole layout again in the new language so when you will be doing this you can just consider including this one paragraph in the translated version. But your visitors will see a new page after clicking the language switcher so the page will be reloaded and displayed in another language.
You will pay the difference if you upgrade before your current subscription expires. This will be possible within 30 days before your license expires. You will get an email notification. Then you need to be logge in your WPML and you will find a relevant link there to upgrade.
We set up our website. http://www.chrissdivine.se in nov 2014 in Swedish. It is wordpress and we have use woo Commerce. Now we want to go outside Sweden and want it in English language as well
Dear Per,
in your case I would recommend you the CMS option. You won’t handle WooCommerce translationd with the Blog subscription and you don’t have to buy the Lifetime right now either because you can upgrade to Lifetime in a year and you will pay the difference only.
Hello, I need to know if we could pay via bank deposit, if so, please send your bank account details.
Thanks
We accept only credit cards and paying via PayPal but please try to contact our sales department, explain why you cannot use the standards methods and we will see what we can do for you.

Hello, I have two nearly identical websites, would one licence work for both web pages?
Thanks
Hello again, yes, you buy only one license and you can use it for all your sites.
If I purchase one version, can I upgrade to another later?
Yes, you will be able to do this. You just need to be logged in your WPML account. You will find all relevant links there.

Hi,
no, you don’t need Google at all to use WPML. Please note that WPML doesn’t translate your content automatically.

can domains be pointed to the right language automataticly domain.de to the DE translation & domain.com to the english translation.
can the plugin assume the right language to show based on the user (browser/system language or geoip)
thanks
Ronald
Hi Ronald,
the Divi theme is compatible with WPML
https://wpml.org/theme/divi/
Last tested: 22/05/2015 so old issues should be fixed now.
You don’t have to include blog in other languages, no problem. The same applies for other posts/pages.
Yes, WPML support SEO friendly urls for all languages.
This can be done but requires additional setup on your side:
https://wpml.org/faq/server-setting-for-languages-in-different-domains/
Only the user language set in his/her browser. This is set in WPML settings.
Hello,
Can your plugin translate dynamic pages like membership directory and profiles?
Thank you,
Lana
Depends on the plugin.
Here is the list of plugins tested for WPML compatibility:
https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/
WPML is fully compatible with the CRED plugin, a part of Toolset that allows you to create membership sites.
https://toolset.com/home/cred/
Toolset plugins come from the same company.
I see, what about menus (Theme X) the member’s directory we are using is not on the list, it;s USerPro
Hi Lana, if a plugin or a theme is not listed on any of these two lists:
https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/
https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/
means that we didn’t test it. So it might work or you might have some issues. For such cases we recommend you to buy the plugin and test it yourself. This is why we have the refunds policy: https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
so in case your are not satisfied, we will refund your order.
Thank you, Agnes:
The theme is compatible:
X Blog, e-commerce THEMECO Compatible with WPML
So, if it is compatible will navigation menus will be translated throughout the site?
UserPro is not, but I know some UsePro use it
Thank you,
Lana
If the theme is compatible and if you translate the elements you plan to include in your menu (pages, posts, categories) they will be translated based on the translated titles of particulate pages/posts/elements. You can also adjust the menu items manually as well.
Hi,
I’m looking to buy WPML for my wordpress site, but load time and performance is critical for me!
Thanks
Hi Vincent,
WPML is performance optimized, used different catching methods and even recently our developers made a few major performance updates:
https://wpml.org/2015/04/wpml-3-2-performance-improvements/
The final result however depends on variety of different factors, so performance issues will vary from site to site. I would recommend you to buy WPML, install it and test yourself on your specific site. If you encounter any performance issues you can debug it yourself and this article will be helpful
https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-debug-performance-problems/
If it turns out that you are not satisfied with the results, please use this contact form and we will refund you:
https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
I guess that our 30 days for testing our refunds policy offers is enough to check if WPML is good for your site.
Are nav menus translated universally throughout the site? Or each page needs it’s own translation?
Menus are translated throughout the site. If you have your pages translated the menu will be generated automatically for each language and you can adjust it manually.
When I make a translation adjustment for the menu will I have to do for every single page or will it know to use the adjusted translation throughout the site?

Hi,
Are you talking about this theme:
https://flexithemes.com/demo/Relevance/
If so, it wasn’t tested by our Compatibility Team, so I cannot give you the warranty that it everything will go smoothly
Until you include the language switcher they won’t know that some posts/pages are translated.
Yes, it does. But you need to buy CMS (or Lifetime) version and also install this plugin:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce-multilingual/
This plugin is developed here.
Hello,
We are thinking about purchasing your plugin, but we have a few concerns / questions:

Hi Jeroen,
Yes.
Yes, translations are separate pages/posts. So, yes, if your homepage is a regular WP page set as homepage (in WP settings) you will have a few copies of it, each per language.
WPML support the standard slugs/code for languages as in this table:
https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/
Thanks for the quick response.
Kind regards,
Jeroen
Hello, I have a website that need to be translated into 3 languages. But first, I need to know if can i also translate files revolution slider, and other pluggins eg (where tables have names in columns and rows) Thanks!
The Revolution Slider is compatible with WPML. Here is the list of other plugins compatible with WPML.
https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/
Please check if your plugin is there. If not, it means that we didn’t test it but it still might work.

Hey there,
I know it is possible to integrate Visual Composer and WPML. Is it possible to just translate a section on a page, as we only want one paragraph to have flags above it that when clicked on change the language of the paragraph. We do not want the full page to be translated.
Thank you for the help
Normally you include the langue switcher in the header, sidebar of in your footer and this why it will be accessible throughout the site. So it will be difficult to include the langue switcher in one element instead. But even you manage do this I wouldn’t recommend you to follow this path. Why? Because for search engines it is important to have one langueage per each page. You can read more about it here:
http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2010/03/working-with-multilingual-websites.html
Hi
I bought WPML plugin but I would like to upgrade to the lifetime plugin.
do I have to pay the full price for this?
You will pay the difference if you upgrade before your current subscription expires. This will be possible within 30 days before your license expires. You will get an email notification. Then you need to be logge in your WPML and you will find a relevant link there to upgrade.
Dear Sir/Madame!
We set up our website. http://www.chrissdivine.se in nov 2014 in Swedish. It is wordpress and we have use woo Commerce. Now we want to go outside Sweden and want it in English language as well
1) Which plugin should I buy?
2) Which plugin is the most cost effectiv?
Regards Per Magnusson
Dear Per,
in your case I would recommend you the CMS option. You won’t handle WooCommerce translationd with the Blog subscription and you don’t have to buy the Lifetime right now either because you can upgrade to Lifetime in a year and you will pay the difference only.
Thanjs a lot!
Regards Pelle
