  1. Hi Agnes Bury,

In my site, before I used the qTranslate-x plugin, which creating some problem, I added some Arabic and Turkish data’s (pages, categories, post etc), now when I de-activated the qtranslate-x plugin, it will show all Arabi, and turkish tags, that’s why I keep it active for now. Now my question is, if I buy WPML, and install it into my site, will it remove all the tags created by the qtranslat-x plugin? or what I need to clean the data that was created by qtranslate, what will be the solution to completely vanish the qtranslate-x data, and pull new data using WPML plugin.

Waiting for your response. So i can purchase this greate plugin and start work

    Thanks

    Best Regard’s

    Kashif

  2. I have a pre-sale question, Does your plugin support Arabic? and RTL? Additionally lets assume that i translated all the content to Arabic and then had the language switcher added to the end users, and lets say they chose the arabic langue is going to change it globally on all pages so when the user navigate to other pages will the language be arabic or it is going to default to the default language and then the user need to change the language again to Arabic (In other words, when the user change the language it is going to persist the change fore the user or will he require to change the language on every page he opens?)

    • Hello,
yes, it does. Please make sure that your theme supports RTL. Best would be to choose a theme that is compatible with WPML and is RTL ready. Yes, when your site is available in two languages and your user switches to Arabic, she/he stays on the Arabic version for all the pages.

  3. Hello,

How can i download a trial version before buy? I wish too see how the plugin works and if it the one that works fine in my website before buying.

    Thank you very much.

    • Hello Richard,
yes, it is. There is such an option in WPML settings but disabled by default. Please note that the purpose of having a multilingual site is to attract organic traffic from search engines (Google) and if you provide good quality content in other languages, your users will land on pages in the languages they were posting your query in Google, so no redirection is needed. Sometimes such redirations can prevent your site to be indexed well in Google and we don’t recommend using it. It makes much sense to add a language switcher and make it stand out.

  4. Hello. I’m trying to buy the complete license but when I choose Paypal payment, they show me the amount but when I push “Pay” nothing happens and I can’t buy it to reactivate my account. Could you help me?

  5. Hello!
My subscription for $79.00 USD ended on January 29, 2018. At that time, I was unable to update the extensions on the site to the current versions. For example, WPML Multilingual CMS is now on the site version 3.8.4, and before the end of the subscription on January 23, 2018, version 3.9.2 was released.
Is it possible to get the latest versions of extensions, according to my subscription, at the time of its end? In my opinion, this would be logical to do from a personal cabinet, that is, download the latest versions of the extensions at the time of January 29, 2018, because they were paid for. Or maybe there is an option to send extensions to e-mail?
    Thanks for the answer!

    • Hello,
I’m sorry but it’s not. You can use only the version you had installed in your site(s). When a WPML subscription expires, you lose access to the Downloads section entirely. This is how our system works.

      • Thanks for the answer!
It is unfortunate that after the end of the subscription, you can not download files that were available at the time of its end. I hope that in the future this function will appear, since this is quite logical.

  6. Hi, I have two questions:

    1. Can WPML auto translate content?

    2. We have several site editors, each with a different language. Can each editor write in their language, then users see the content in their own language? eg an editor writes in German, English user sees it as English, and a Spanish users sees Spanish?

  7. Hi Team,
I have read through all the extensions & plugins possible to setup an e-store with multiple currencies. This is what we require to sell our products around the world through WooCommerce. The local currency for the store will be Indian Rupees (INR). Now, we want to setup the store to cater to clientele in UK and USA (Rest of the World). Also, we want to showcase these products in their local currencies (i.e Pounds & $). Adding another layer to our requirement: we need only specific products to be displayed for the UK and US (Rest of the World) stores. Please help me out with the specific plugins required to solve my issue. I believe WPML combined with WooCommerce extensions itself will help me setup this kind of a store, rather than creating customised solutions from developers. Here are points summarising my requirements:
    1. Setting up multi-national store – 3 countries (all English with no translations, but different currencies).
    2. Not all products need to be displayed in each country-specific store. Only some products will be displayed for UK store and similar would be the case with US store. The products in UK and US store will also be different.
    3. The shoppers need to be directed to their own country stores: either by choosing or geo-locating them through IP address (preferable method). They will be displayed product prices in their own currencies. However, shipping rates will vary for these 3 countries.

Here is what my solution to this requirement is:
. We create similar products for 3 product categories (categories for 3 geographies – India, UK & Rest of the World) having different prices in the base currency.
    2. Using the WPML plugin, we will add two currencies (£ & US$) apart from the base currency of INR. (NO Translation required)
    3. With the catalog visibility options extension (WooCommerce extension) combined, will we be able (a) to demarcate currencies for each product categories & (b) distribute product categories for visibility in various geo-locations?
    4. The WPML plugin is recommended by WooCommerce. Here are the extensions we are planning for our site:
    a. Composite Products
    b. Subscriptions
    c. Catalog Visibility Options
    d. Dynamic Pricing
    e. Conditional Shipping & Payments (optional)
Will WPLM be compatible with these WooCommerce extensions?

    5. Since translation is not required at all, just multiple currencies is the requirement – is WPML the ideal plugin to solve my issue or if yes, is there, a lighter version that will just cater to multi currency? Do I need to buy this premium version or the free version will solve my issue?

    • Hello,
      1. It’s possible but the real benefits from using WPML is to make your products multilingual.
      2. Possible with WPML.
      3. Only language based redirections are possible in WPML. According to the language set in your browser.
      4. You can see a list of all WooCommerce extentions compatible with WPML here: https://wpml.org/documentation/woocommerce-extensions-compatibility/
      5. Exactly that was my point in #1 – WPML seems to be too “heavy” for your requirements. First I would look around to find a dedicated plugin that only allows you to choose a currency for your products.

  8. Hello, everyone!

I am planning to buy WPML in the next few days because I think it will be perfect for the website I am about to start, but before that I would like to understand if there is a way to sidestep a couple of issues I might have with the site structure I intend to build. Could you please clarify a couple of things for me?

I already checked the FAQs and the forum to avoid asking the same questions, but I could not find anything similar, so here I go.

First off, please keep in mind that I am aiming for a multilanguage site created using two subdirectories (/en and /it). Content-wise, the site would grow almost exclusively in Italian, at first, but after 1-2 year the English section should start catching up with the Italian one and, once done, the two of them should become identical and keep growing in parallel.

With that said, these are my questions:

    1) Can I create pages and publish them only in one of the two language sections of the site, regardless of what language is my default language? More specifically, is there a way to publish a page exclusively in the non-default-language section of the site?

For instance, let’s say Italian is my default site language and I want to promote Book A only in Italian (in the Italian section of the site), and Book B only in English (in the English section of the site). Can I create an English page for Book B that appears only in the English section, without creating/publishing first its “parent” Italian version?

    2) If so, is there a proper way to do it?
    Would it work if I:
    – created an Italian page and leave it empty in a draft state;
    – activated its related English page (as its “child” translation), created the page and published just this one, leaving the Italian one unpublished?

    3) In case this is feasible, are you aware of any downside or inconvenience of any kind I should bear in mind (e.g. Google indexing-wise), should I resort to such approach?

    4) I read that I can set automatic redirects based on the browser language that users visiting my site are using. And considering the international scope I would like to reach, it would be very desiderable to automatically redirect to the English section of the site any non-Italian user.

So far I can only think of two solutions:

    a) Set English as default language. This way, Italian users would be automatically redirected to the Italian section while everyone else would be sent to the English one. This would clearly seem the easiest solution available, but I can only resort to it depending on your answers to questions 1-3, as there will be cases where I will need to have specific pages exlusively in Italian, and not in English.

    b) Avoid automatic redirects, keep Italian as default language and create instead a root page where users manually choose their section. This would actually be a compromise, and I am still not convinced about this one, user-experience-wise, but I guess it would still be a viable option.

So the question here is: could you please confirm whether the reasoning behind these two solutions is correct? And in any case, is there any other solution you could suggest me for this problem?

And I guess this is all.
Sorry for the long post and thank you in advance for your kind attention.

    • Hello Dario,
thank you for your interest in WPML.

      1. Yes, you can. Actually a lot of WPML users ask about it and WPML is prepared to handle such cases. You can publish in both languages and don’t need to provide the translations. In WPML settings you decide what should happen for posts/pages that miss translation. There are a few options available. I’m sure you will find something for you.

      2. Just create a page/post/category (whatever you need) in one language. You don’t even need drafts in the other languages.

      3. Google likes when every page has a counterpart in the other language (this is how Google learns how to improve his translations) but it should affect your page ranking in terms of being banned or something like that. When you have your content in two languages you will just attract more organic traffic for the pages that are available.

      4. Such redirections are overvalued. Please note that your goal is to attract organic traffic from Google (and other search engines), directly in the language a user is performing his/her search. In most cases they will land on diffrent pages of your site, these which content matches their search intention.

What you should do instead: have a language switcher on every page that is available in more than one language and provide pages with good quality content (human translations). Using WPML you can insert your language switcher in all your pages automatically.

      I hope it helps.

      • Hello Agnes,

thank you for your prompt and kind reply.

1 and 2: This is so great!

3: Uhm… maybe I am little confused here:

“Google likes when every page has a counterpart in the other language […] but it should affect your page ranking in terms of being banned or something like that.”

Did you mean “but it should *not* affect your page ranking”?

4: I will use language switcher on each page (and translate the contents myself) in any case, I just thought that landing on an Italian page and then having to click on its English version might be annoying for many non-Italian users, should they enter the site from the home page. You have a point, though: they will probably skip the home page altogether in many case, when searching things on Google.

In any case, thank you so much for your explanation. You made my day. 🙂

        Dario

        • 3. Yes, of course! My mistake. I meant “shouldn’t”
          4. These days very few people enter your site because they type in the exact site address (domain) in the browser bar. Instead they go to Google first. Google knows the user location so if an Italian user types in the name of your site and the site is properly translated to Italian, they should see the Italian version in the search results, even if it’s homepage. Or they will see both versions English and Italian. It the Italian version has something in the description that catches their eye, they will definitely click on the Italian one.

  9. Hello,

I am making an multilingual website for a client and I am looking to purchase a 79$ option. I am just wondering about two things.

    1. Will my client be able to use that translator after one year expires on his website and I do not extend it?
    2. Will I be able to use it on other websites for a year period?

    Thank you.

    • Hello,
thank you for your interest in WPML.
      1. Yes. The WPML plugins you have installed will continue working even if you don’t renew your subscription. You lose access to our support help and future releases.
      2. Yes, you can use WPML on many sites.

  10. Hello,

I was wondering if WPML works for a one off entire site translation. If so, could you please explain how.

A Denmark company has recently expanded into Australia where my business will be managing the Australian website. They will be providing us with a copy of their current site for us to use at our own URL so we don’t have to re-write out all the information, just translate it to English and adapt it. But just the once. We don’t want a button so people can toggle between languages. We want the two sites to be completely separate so we don’t have to add new products and pages when the Denmark site does, and we want to upload our own Australian photos etc.

We also want to be able to universally change certain words. For example if the translation changes a Denmark word incorrectly, we want to be able to change it once and it will automatically make the change to that word universally across the entire site.

What do you think would be the best way to go about this.

    Kind regards,
    Di

    • Hello Di,
if these two sites are going to be completely separate, each in a diffrent language and you don’t want you users to switch the language, then I cannot see any reasons of using WPML. Just create a copy of your current WordPress site and update the content. Or I misunderstood something?

To answer your second question – there is no feature in WPML that allows you to update a certain word once and all its occurrences will be automatically updated.

  11. Hi,

    I have 2 questions:

    1) Can this plugin be installed into an existing site with about 30 pages, without causing any down time?

    2) Can i install the plugin on my testing website to see how it works, and then install it onto my company live site. Meaning it would be installed only on one site at a time?

    Many thanks

    B

    • Hello Barrie,
      1. There will be always some little down time (you won’t probably even notice it) since some extra queries to the database need to be done. The overall performance will depend on the complexity of your site, on how many plugins you use, what kind of content you have (for example product variations are more demanding in terms of performance) but if your site has only 30 pages, I assume it’s a simple site and you should not see any diffrent.
      2. You can install WPML on as many sites as you want. Our licensing systems allows that.

      • Hi Agnes,

        Thank you.

We will make a copy of the current word press site and Update/Translate the content into English. Do you have any advice as to what software does a one off translation of a whole word press site?

        • First of all, please avoid automatic translations, they won’t do any good to your site, just the opposite. Please keep in mind that Google appreciates good quality content. If you don’t have anybody who can translate the site to you, please choose one of the professional translation companies we are cooperating with. You will find the list at the bottom of this page: https://wpml.org/documentation/content-translation/

  12. Hi WPML team,

We are interested in as “developers for clients” to provide multilanguage support for their sites.

We can’t understand if the purchasing license is ours(dev) or theirs (end client)?

    for subscription of 1 year:
    – after the year ends, the existing functions and management remain the same (without the support and updates)?

    – If we are registered as developers, means that it reflects all sites of our clients?

    Thank you

    • Hello Shimon,
If you buy WPML with your own email, it’s yours and you can use for as many sites as you want.
Yes, if your subscription expires you can still use the version you have installed, you just lose access to future versions and our support help.
Yes, you can use WPML for many sites, for all your clients.

    • Once you have your WPML account, you will see the Affiliate section there along with the announts we pay for your for each case.

    • Hi, why would you like to do so? If the reason is that a given page is not available for a specific language, that language won’t appear in your language switcher. You just need to set an appropriate option in WPML settings.

    • Hi,

Thank you for your reply, I have a few more questions and hoping you could clarify.

      1. WPML CMS includes multilingual WooCommerce component? (No need to purchase separately)
      2. Can the languages button like English | Russian | Spanish to be display only on contact-us page and a few other landing pages, but not at the homepage? Please provide more details (screenshots if possible) how this can be accomplished.
      3. What is the average rating for your product? How many reviews? And how many active installations so far?

      Thank you in advance!
      -Dona

      • Hello,

        1. Yes, all our plugins are included in the CMS subscription, including the WooCommerce component.
        2. Yes, that’s possible. Please check the details here. I don’t know your reasons why you want to hide the language switcher on some of your pages but please note that if you don’t translate a given page to other languages, these languages won’t appear in your language switcher. If a given page in available in many languages, using language switcher is recommended.
        3. There are about 500 000 sites using WPML. We don’t collect reviews but happy WPML customers send us their sites to our showcase: https://wpml.org/showcase/

    • Hello Anton,
You need to select the country and then add the number only. What is the number you are trying to use? I will check that everything is alright on our side.

      Thanks,

  13. Hello,

I am creating a wordpress website from zero. I have to build the website in 4 languages. The main language will be catalan and the other 3 will be english, spanish and french. Each translation language will have a subdirectory less the catalan.

    1. What is best: firstable to build all the website in catalan and then install the WPML and translate the full website in the other 3 languages? Or firstable to install the WPML plugin and then build the website in the 4 languages at the same time?

    2. I want to creat 1 subdirectory for each translation language: /es (spanish), /en (english) and /fr (french). How can I do it?

    Thanks a lot!

    Mercè

    • Hello Mercè,
thank you for your interest in WPML and your questions.
      1. Both options are possible. But I’d recommend you to add at least one language and try to to translate at least the homepage to make sure that you can translate everything. Sometimes it turns out that your theme includes some strange options which cannot be translated and it is easier to replace the theme before you invest a lot of time into developing your site with that theme. You can also check in advance if your theme is compatible with WPML using this list: https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/
      2. WPML will create these subfolder automatically for you. You just need to select which languages you need. You can add more languages later.

      • Hi Agnes,

thank you very much for your help. My wordpress theme doesn’t appear in your data base, but the developer told me that it’s compatible with WPML. Could you check it, please? The theme is “MediCenter responsive medical wordpress theme”.

        Thank you very much!! 🙂

        Mercè

  14. Hello,

I’ve bought the Multilingual CMS for life but didn’t receive any link to download the plugin / documentation. Could you please see what happen?

    Thanks in advance.

  15. Hi,

I’m from Sweden and have a Swedish website due to the fact that this is my main market and audience. I still prefer to run the WordPress system in English tor all the back office functions but with these settings also the buttons (E.g the post comment button and “Leave a reply”) will be in English. Can the WPML plugin manage so I can translate everything that I want to translate on my site…?

    • Hi Tony,
WPML is a plugin for making your site multilingual, which means making it available for more than one languages for visitors. If you just want to translate some of your theme strings to Swedish such as “Leave a reply”, “Read more” etc, please use the Loco Translate plugin from the WP repo.

  16. Hi,

I have purchased one of the Vamtam’s WP theme’s (https://vamtam.com/). It uses vamtam builder to build pages. I would like to know if that builder is WPML ready or if I can buy and use WPML to create multilingual page with that theme. It’s not listed on Your list but Vamtam recommends WPML.

    • Hello Karol,
if the theme is not on our compatibility list, I means that its page builder isn’t integrated with WPML either so when making any changes in the layout, you will need to do it for each language every time. If you are going to have just two languages, it shouldn’t be a problem, but if you have many pages created with this page builder translation elements of this page builder might be tedious for your users.

You can buy WPML and test it yourself. If it doesn’t work, you can change your theme or ask for refund:https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/

Please note that we allow to use WPML for many sites and for many themes.

  17. Hello, the WPML translate or I need to write the page and then WPML translate using this?

Other question, I just want to translate the home page (front page), can I use “Multilingual Blog” plan?

    Thank you!

    • Hey Rafael,
it depends on how complex your homepage is, how it was built. You can start with the Blog subscription and if it turns out that you need some other WPML plugins, which are available in the CMS version, you can upgrade for the difference in price. You will find a link to upgrade in your WPML account.

  18. Hi,
I have 2 pending order since Feb 10 2018 and I can not use any plugin and can not send support ticket due to not completely buying any product.
Kindly please cancel all orders and advise me how can I buy Multilingual CMS for life.
Order IDs are 1513613 and 1513612
    Thanks you,
    Abdolreza

    • Hello, our admins checked your case.

      Your #1513614 was refunded.

      As for 2 other orders
we don’t see them in 2CO. We assume, they just didn’t go through, that’s why they are not reflected in 2CO.
If you provide us the transaction ID for those orders, or a prove that they were processed. Otherwise, we can’t do anything.

You should have got a confirmation email after the purchase was processed.
If not, it means purchase was not made.

Or, you can check with you bank, if your are not sure if the money was paid.

  19. Hi, can i buy Multilingual CMS (79$) than upgrade to Multilingual CMS Lifetime? And if I do that, do i need to pay the full price of Multilingual CMS Lifetime (195$) or just the difference between packages?

    Thank you!

    • Hello,
yes, you can and you will pay the difference in purchase price. But please note that this is how it works now. We have plans to change our subscription model in the near future and probably we won’t have the Lifetime option any more. If we do so, we will notify all our customers in advance so that these who want to upgrade to Lifetime will have the last opportunity to do so.
