    • Hello,
yes, you can buy on behalf of the end-user, but as the developer you can use WPML on many sites, for many customers. You cannot resell WPML.

        • Hello,
You are welcome to reuse the code and even modify it, but you cannot use our name and logo, which are registered.

          Thanks,

          • Hey,
I can use “WPML” you use this in plugin name…
This license allows redistribution in unchanged form. If you have used the WPML name in your code, this restriction does not apply.
            But yes i can’t use your logo….
I would like to resell your gnu-licensed plugins. I would like to give you a commission from every sold plugin in my country. So that your plugins would be more popular in my country, and maybe in the future people will earn more money using your plugins and will be able to buy subscribe from you. In my country, not everyone can pay $195, because a lot of people earn $ 500 a month. Your plugins are offered on the GNU GPL license, it may be worth considering to create your own sales network. In the future, start paid courses for partners, certificates of authenticity. I noticed, there are over 1,000 pages selling your plugins. I would like to prove myself and people that we can redistribute the GPL plugin and everyone will be happy. The publisher and the distributor.

            • Hello Rafal,
Thanks for your message. We do not allow the reselling of our plugin.
You can see the license terms here https://wpml.org/faq/limitations-on-using-wpml/. Our name and logo are registered trademarks https://www.onthegosystems.com/legal/wpml-trademark-policy/.
What you can do is join our Affiliate program and earn a commission for every sale made through you https://wpml.org/documentation/affiliate-program/. If you want to return this money to the people who have bought through your link this may help reduce the cost for them, like you suggest.

              • I understand the gpl license, I can resell your plugin unchanged… However, I can’t use your brand on the sales page. You allow all end user to the reselling of our plugin (GNU GPL)

For this reason, I don’t understand the policy of some publishers. Maybe better way is create your own reseller network. I would pay you money for the opportunity to use your brand in my store only “wpml official partner” I can pay for the official wpml training, and offer my own support to my client. Give me a pool of 1000 keys for auto update… I will pay you immediately. I will support my users, not you.

                • Hello Rafel, You cannot resell WPML. You can use it on your customer sites. What is your actual question? I’m confused.

                • Please know that our plugins, along with the WordPress platform, are released under the GNU General Public License, GPL for short. The terms of the license allow the user the freedom to use, change, copy, or redistribute (even for free!) the plugin under the same license. I can redistribute. Because you allow me to do in the license with the program. And writing “You cannot resell WPML plugin” is wrong.

                • WPML name and logo are trademarked. If you want to redistribute it, you need to take out all references to the name WPML and its logo. So, “as is” you are not allowed to redistribute WPML. We’re not talking only about the name in the plugin header in the CSS, but all places referencing the name WPML in the code. It’s quite a few places. I hope that this helps.

                • Unfortunately, it’s not like that. in the license you have a mention about trademarks. if you use trademarks in your code, they are also licensed under the gnu as a code.

      • Hi, I have purchased WPML to build sites for multiple clients. If I make the codebase of each site available to the respective clients, is this covered by my purchase or do I need to licence it for each individual client?

        Thanks,
        -Roger

        • You don’t need to buy WPML several times. With your single account, you can build sites for your different clients. You are not allowed to redistribute WPML (make it available for others to use to build sites), but you can use it for sites that you build. You need to register WPML on each site via your account at wpml.org, to receive updates for that site.

  1. Hi,
we want to make our website bilingual using WPML. However, there is content that is not relevant to the users of the second country and therefore should not be displayed in this version. So my first question is: is it possible to hide certain links for one of the languages using WPML?
Question 2: Can mails that are sent automatically via WordPress, such as. Registration confirmation or password reset also be translated with WPML?

    Thank you for the effort!
    Ani

    • Hello Zak,
I am afraid we do not offer discounts but you are welcome to start with the Blog or CMS subscription (29/79$ respectively) and then upgrade to lifetime for the difference. NOTE we are planning to remove the lifetime offer but we will let our users know so that they can upgrade to lifetime if they have not done it yet.

      Hope this helps!

  2. Hi,

I know that you had a non profit purchase option – is this option still possible? I´ve created a charity website and would be great if there´s still a possibility for a non profit purchase.

    Regards,

    • Hello Benjamin,
I am afraid we have stopped supporting non-profits for now. We continue to support the existing ones in our system but we cannot take new ones. You are welcome to buy WPML and try it for 30 days. If it does not suit your needs we will refund you https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/.

      Hope this helps!

      Kind regards,

  3. We are considering purchasing WPML for our website to accommodate our Spanish speaking audience. We were unhappy with the WEGLOT translation plugin for WordPress. We use the theme OceanWP. We require the Mexico Spanish translation. Would we benefit from the purchase of this product and can we try it on a trial period?

    Thanks

  5. Hi,

I am about to create a site in 5 different languages. (Nordic languages) Is there any support in this for automatically direct the user to their correct language based on their location?
If someone from Norway enters the site, the Norwegian translation automatically comes up… and so on?!

    regards

    • Hello Christian,
WPML has an option in its settings to detect the user language set in his/her browser (the option is disabled by default). But I’d recommend you to focus on adding a language switcher and make it stand out so the users can see what languages the site is available in and switch by themselves if needed. Please note that actually very few users access your site by typing in the domain name directly in the browser address bar. You will get more traffic from search engines (Google) and they will land on the pages in the language they were performing their search. So if a user comes from Norway and he/she uses keywords in Norwegian, Google knows that and he will provide them with a page in Norwegian. So it’s better to focus on SEO and provide good quality content, with great translations instead of on automated redeiration.

      • Thanks,

I will have both the selector and the automatic thing enabled I guess.
The site will be a landing site for a competition so there will not be any searches for it. It will be a temp site thats up for 2-3 weeks only 🙂

  6. Dear Madam or Sir,

I have two questions, if I may:

    (a) We intend to use WPML to report on results from an international research collaboration. At some point (perhaps in two years?) this site will either be archived (i.e. no need for new translations) or taken down completely. If we purchase the lifetime version, can we move it to another site in the future, for example a website for a different international research project? Or, will our ownership of WPML be “stuck to” our current site?

    (b) We have a third-party website person that will probably set up WPML for us. If she is to buy our copy and bill us for labour and the plug-in, will she “own” the copy, or will we? If we choose the annual option, will the owner, and/or the original purchaser receive the billing reminder?

    Thank you for your time.

    Kind regards,

    Denver

    • Dear Denver,

      (a) Yes, you can. Actually, you can use one WPML license for all of your sites.
      (b) The person who buys is the owner but he/she can use WPML for the sites he/she builds for his/her customers. If you want to own the WPML license (and receive the billing reminders), please purchase it with your email address (and your credit card/PayPay) and then share the credentials to your WPML account with your developer. Otherwise you are risking losing access to your WPML account when your developer suddenly disappears. It happened to some of our customers.

  7. Hi,

We are a translation company, based in Cyprus and we would like to appear at the list of your contractors. I’d like to ask what are the requirements.

    Let me know.

    Thanks,

    Sakis

  8. Hi. I have been renewing my account for several years now and every year I get e-mail to remind me of renewing my account. Planned to do this also this year, was waiting this notice as every year, but didn’t get the reminder e-mail this time and of course, forgot to do it on time.
May I ask, why didn’t I get this e-mail (I still get all other newsletters from you) and if there is any chance to update my account with the price which would of been if I had done it on time?

I might not even need these WPML updates but it seems, there might be some problems with WordPress updates and older versions of WPML. Not sure if they are connected, but had some issues with WP update and site crashing unless I didn’t turn off WPML plugin.

    • Hello Mihai,
I’m not sure what do you mean by “a theme with frontend”. Do you mean a theme that uses a front-end page builder?

    • Hello Agnes,

      Thank you for your answer.
I`m planning to use the WPML plugin to translate in two languages a wordpress site using the ListingPro theme, a directory theme.
The theme has a front end page builder (Visual composer) and also a front end platform (dashboard) for users to be able to add listings and reviews for listings.
My question is if you have any idea if the plugin supports front end submission/dashboard themes.
      Waiting forward for your answer.
      Regards,
      Mihai

      • Hello Mihai,
we are not compatible with the ListingPro theme (you see the lists of themes compatible with WPML here) so I cannot say where you can have issues.

But WPML works with the Visaul COmposer page builder (now it’s called WPBakery), please check this documentation: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/maintaining-wpbakery-page-builder-compatibility-with-wpml/

What you can do is to buy WPML and test how it works with your theme. If it doesn’t work, you can ask for refund, by using this link: https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/

“My question is if you have any idea if the plugin supports front end submission/dashboard themes.”
You mean, if you can translate the strings that appear in your front-end forms? If so, it depends on how these forms are generated, by which plugin/theme and whether this plugin/theme is compatible with WPML.

  9. Is it possible to have a trial version, just to check if the plugin works on my website? The author haven`t tested the theme with the plugin.

    Thank you.

    Mihai

    • We are offering an upgrade from the yearly account to the Lifetime account. The upgrade costs only the difference ($116). Please note that we are planning to discontinue selling NEW Lifetime accounts during 2018 and are going to switch to automatic yearly renewals. All existing Lifetime accounts will be honored, but we will discontinue offering new Lifetime accounts. We will give an advance notice about this change when it’s closer to implementation.

  10. Dear Sir,

Is it possible to purchase “Multilingual CMS” and upgrade it to “Multilingual
CMS Lifetime” later on and pay the difference ?

    Kind Regards,

    • Hello Ahmad,
Yes this is possible for now. Note we are planning to remove the lifetime subscription but we will let all our users know before so that they can do it if they haven’t.

      Best,

  11. Hi,

I am updating the website of my neighbour. His WPML install is out of date and needs to be updated. However he has not installed WPML himself and does not have a clue what his client data (login, password) are. How can i update his WPML install, keeping his currentpage as they are ?

    Thanks,
    John

  12. Hi,
Does the plugin support or have a feature which allows switching between the different translations by the location of the costumer in my store?

    • Hello,
when you set up your multilingual site/store the first thing you do is choosing languages your site/store will be available in. Then WPML will automatically generate the so called language switcher – a set of flags with languages names (you can customize it to decide what actually it will include), which you can add to your header, menu, sider, footer so that your visitors can switch the languages. Is this what you mean?

      • No,
I know that languages can be switched with the switcher… I am asking if it’s possible that the language will be automatically switched based on the ip of the visitor in my site- that way if someone for example will visit me from Israel, it will redirect him automatically to the Hebrew version of my site…

        Does it possible?

  13. Is it possible for me to submit a quote or an estimate to my business data so I pay to your account. So, I do not pay in advance with the card. Thank you

  14. Hi! I am building a shop, and the standard price for customers will be shown in Euro, but I need the Norwegian customers to see the Norwegian prices. Website : http://www.thrustme.no NB : Not multilingual. Can the Multi-currency support for WooCommerce be used for this? Thanks!

    • Yes, you can use our plugins for that purpose but if you don’t plan to have your shop/site multilingual using so many additional plugins only to show different currencies might be a kind of overkill…

  15. Hi there
I want to know if it possible to use WPML in below scenery:

We have a cliente who asked us to make a corporated website (company.com) and another website in a subdomain for the documentation of his main product (documentation.company.com), both in two languages.

Is it possible to achieve this with your plugin?
I’ll be looking forward to your comments
    Best regards

    • Hey, yes. We allow you to use WPML on manny sites. If the subdomain will be a separate WP install, you just need to install another copy of WPML on it.

  16. Hi there,

Let’s say that I buy the unlimited version at $195.

I then develop a website for a client, use the plugin, finish the website then give to the client their website login credentials and move on with other projects.

Let’s say that a few months later, they hire another webdesigner who will login with wp and find the plugin in place.

My question is so on, in that case, can that somebody else “get” the plugin license and start to re-use it for himself on the unlimited basis too, won’t this be possible and I’ll be the only one capable of using and re-using the plugin ?

    • They will have access to the PHP code, but they will not be able to register WPML to receive updates on any other site. The registration happens through our site (wpml.org) using your login details. This process produces an ‘accesskey’, which is unique to each registered site. Does this help?
