  1. Hello there,

Just wondering if your MPML will work with artisteer “http://www.artisteer.com” generated themes ? and will this plugin automatically translate all pages, menus, posts in my wordpress artisteer theme.. Or do I have to get or hire a translator to translate every thing on my website? Does MPML support simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese and Cantonese ? and will it out of the box translate it from English to those languages I mentioned above well enough to read properly?

    Regards

    Chi

    • I’m not sure about Artisteer. If it’s using WordPress API and menus, everything should translate fine with WPML.

WPML doesn’t do any sort of automated translation. It’s a tool that lets you run multilingual sites and translate yourself (or with a translation service). You can include traditional and simplified Chinese, but WPML is not going to do the actual translation.

  2. BTW, check out the websites. Automotive is for a big part now in Thai, while Marine and some others are still part English, part Thai.

It is doable by hand, but a lot of work! 🙂

  3. Hello,
could you please provide the list of languages that WPML can support?
    Does it support Romanian language?

    Thank you in advance,

    Shay.

    • WPML comes with around 40 languages pre-configured. Romanian, as well as all major European languages is included. If you even need to add another language which is not pre-configured, you can always do this via WPML->Edit languages.

      • In latest version is there possibility to add a product in different languages?
May be you have demo site to test these plugins? Or it would be great to get somekind of temporary license.
        Is it possible?

        • You’ll be able to translate products and variations and everything else that WooCommerce produces. We’re nearly ready and should have a nice release-candidate on Monday.

            • Yes. With your purchase, you get free upgrades and support for a year. Next year, you can renew downloads and support by paying 50%.

  4. Hi

I have a website where i want multi language. a friend of mine also uses your and it looks fantastic. but when he is on a page (another then home) and he clicks on the flag in the footer for another language the goes back to the homepage.

Now, i really want to buy this plugin but is it possible that when people click on a flag in the footer they stay in that post or page? Instead of going back to home?
When this is possible i want to buy this plugin 🙂

I am looking forward to your answere.

    Gr Hans

    • This is a configuration option. When the page is translated, the language switcher will always go to the translated page. When the page is not translated, you can choose to link back to the homepage in the other language, or not display that flag.

    • Yes. This is exactly how WPML works. Normally, each page in each language would have its own name and URL. You can set the same name for translated pages, but you can certainly set unique names.

    • Sorry about the delay. Seems like a SPAM filter is blocking our automated emails to you. I just resent your ‘new account’ email from my personal email. Can you please look for it and let me know that you got it? If it’s not in your inbox, have a look in the SPAM folder.

        • I can’t find any purchase with this email. Please use our contact form and send me your full name so that I can look up your order. If you received a confirmation email from PayPal, paste it. This will include the transaction ID that lets me find your order immediately.

  5. Hi! I have a client with an English and Spanish site. We are thinking of purchasing the plugin because we aren’t able to translate some things. Does the plugin translate English words used in Gravity Forms? Also, will it translate the word” search” in the search button and “follow us” in social media plugins?

    Thanks for your help!

    • WPML is fully integrated with Gravity Forms. You’ll be able to translate the texts in the forms, labels, titles, etc. We use that for our own contact forms as well.

Translation for other plugins depends on these texts being made for translation. Most plugins are done that way and you should be able to use WPML’s String Translation to translate those texts.

  6. Hi. I would like to use your plugin to translate my site from English to French and Portuguese. But first I would like to know if you already have the Geo Places theme translated to those languages? Also I’ve seen a lot of people had problem to use it with Domain Mapping plugin (that I’m also using), is this issue solved? I need to map the translated site to .com.br and .fr domains. Otherwise this plugin won’t be a solution for me. Do you have a tutorial I can see where to put the theme and plugins translated files, would be .mo and .po? Does it translate taxonomies? Thanks!

    • I think that Geo Places is built for localization, but it doesn’t mean that Templatic also maintains the translations. I would suggest to ask them if they have the translations for their themes to these languages.

We’ve tested WPML with Domain Mapping and we’re happy with the results. You can see a tutorial here:
      http://wpml.org/documentation/essential-multilingual-plugins/multilingual-site-network-with-domain-mapping/

The only thing that’s not supported is having different languages in different domains using a multisite install. We’re planning to implement that too, but it’s not in the code right now.

Translation for taxonomy is done from the taxonomy admin screen. It’s pretty intuitive. I’m sure that this will not be a problem for you.

      • They don’t have it, and I heard your team was translating Geo Places v.4, but I didn’t see in your Theme Compatibility page, are those themes all you have translated? Since I already have WordPress in many languages, what makes your service interesting for me is the translation of the themes and plugins I need. Geo Places is my priority here! So just to make sure when I purchase the Multilingual CMS package I’ll have access to all those themes and plugins translation in Portuguese and French?

I want to map the domain that your plugin will generate i.e. idsetters.com/pt to idsetters.com.br and idsetters.com/fr to idsetters.fr Is this what you said It’s not possible yet?

        Thanks a lot!

        • Sorry for the misunderstanding. We’re not translating the theme, but working with their developers to make it multilingual-ready. That makes it POSSIBLE to translate the theme and use it in multilingual sites. Translation is normally up to the theme developer.

WPML will make it possible for you to map these language ‘directories’ to languages.

  7. if I have 40 language vertions of my website,

If visitor leave comment in their language version of the website with their own language, will their comments be translated automatically when other people that speak other languates visit the website?

    • No, sorry. WPML cannot automatically translate comments. We had something for that, but since Google closed the translation API, we had to disable it.

    • traslating comment is very important for me if I have 3 language version of my website: xxx.com/en xxx.com/jp xxx.com/es If visitor leave comment on one of the version of the website, will the comment appear on another version of the websites? And can I traslate comment for the other two versions on the backend conveniently?

My hosting plan now is share hosting , can I use wpml 75$ version?

      • Honestly, I don’t have a good solution for translating comments right now. Since it got disabled in Google, we disabled that code and it’s not available.

You should check that your web host permits enough memory for PHP. The overall memory depends on many factors, including your theme, all plugins and the content. WPML is a small part of that. If the hosting company allows around 64Mbyte for PHP, it should be OK.

  8. I have two blogs, one in Spanish and one in English language, almost with same (translated) content.
If i install WPML , can i import one of the blog as a translation of the other ? any feature for post/page/category/tags mapping during import process is available ?

    Cheers.

    • Right now, we don’t have a tool that will allow you to merge two sites and map the content. You can import one and then import the other. Then, you’ll need to change the languages of 1/2 of the posts and associate them with their translation. You can do that from the post editor.

I know that this isn’t very convenient, but we don’t have any automated tool for this process.

      • Thanks for the answer Amir !
        It’s a pity, but…
I need to simplify the management process, so a multilingual support is needed… even if it means some extra set-up work… better now than next year with more posts…
        Purchasing now…

        Cheers.

  9. 1 i can not understand because comments& link for the same page:http://wpml.org/purchase/pre-sales-questions/ are different.

How it’s done? all website installed with wpml are like this?

2 If I have an established english website, I want to install wpml, will that be late?

Or should I install it when I build my website?

3 does it support all in seo pack?

  11. I have two questions:

    1. I have a custom theme I did for a client without knowing that they planned on translation in the future, so I did not include the standard translation codes in the code (lesson learned). Do I gather correctly that the theme can still be translated without my going back and doing that or will I need to do that?

    2. The theme has multiple navigation menus that have some very exact css to make them work. Two are based on the wordpress menu mechanism and one is just a function call. It wasn’t clear to me whether I could just leave my code for these alone and get them translated. Will I need to change the code for these? The docs make it sound like I would need to start over.

    Thanks

  12. Hello!

I’m looking for something important with the Multilanguage Plug in for wordpress.

Does he have the capacity to assign different languages for the description and keywords?? I need it top be SEO friendly and be able to set keywords/descriptions separately in different languages for the search engines. (As if pages English and french were totally separated.)

    Does he have this feature??

    All Best!

  13. I purchase your plugin couple month ago , do you refund ?, can you help me to retreive my credential ,because i would like to try again in a new template wordpress website your plugin if it gone a work on it?

    thanks

  14. I’m about to set up a multi-language multi-domain site and have a few questions before I decide to purchase.

The sites will be using the same theme, just different languages and I’m wondering if WPML has built-in support for this?

What I want is that if I’m currently on the page http://www.domain-finnish.fi/mypage-finnish and change language i’ll be directed to http://www.domain-swedish.fi/mypage-swedish.

To clarify; I want the pages to be interlinked although they will have different names/paths, and also that the domain name will reflect the language I’m currently viewing the page in. I’m guessing I’ll have to make use of the domain mapping plugin to get it to work properly?

Another question, just so I did get it right:
I’m a web developer, so if I decide to make the purchase, I can use this plugin on all my clients sites without restrictions?

Also, you mentioned that WPML is available in all the major languages, does that cover Finnish and Swedish?

    Thanks,
    Jonas

  15. Hello,

We are a non-profit and filled out the form with a service number in the 1490s. Can I ask what the status of the request is or if it was denied, and what additional info I would need to submit to have it approved? We are a 501(c)(3).

    Thank you!

  16. I have been asked to translate a website that I built with a theme from Elegant Themes. I found another blog post review which gave an excellent review of wmpl, however, there was a comment from someone saying that they were unable to get it to display properly on several elegant themes. Can you tell me if this is true and if so, is there a way to add code to the theme to make this work? I am not a coder, so I would also need to know if I can get support to make this work?

    Thank you!

    • I’ve seen WPML working with some themes from ElegantThemes, but I’m not sure about all. In any case, if you have any trouble, our support people will do their best to get things working for you. We’ll also be happy to work with the developers from ElegantThemes to ensure compatibility.

In case you’re not happy with WPML, you can always get your money back. Almost everyone who buys is happy.

  17. Hello,

I am currently looking for the best way to incorporate Chinese and Korean language versions into my web site. This product looks like it might fit my needs, but I was wondering if you could answer a couple of questions first.

1). Is this plugin (to your knowledge) compatible with elegantthemes.com WordPress themes?

2). I have been provided with the translations for Korean and Chinese that I want to use on the site. Will I be able to import these translations as alternate versions of the English pages/posts? I don’t want to use an automatic translator plugin that may screw up the syntax and grammar.

    Thanks!
    – Nathan

    • 1) We’ve seen WPML work fine with some themes from ElegantThemes, but we haven’t tested on all.

      2) Yes. You’ll be able to easily import your own translations. WPML doesn’t at all do machine translation. It’s a tool that lets you translate yourself. You can translate by yourself, or export content to translators.
