  1. hello sir,

I am suman kumar from India , and working on my client website need to implement multilingual (Arabic language or English )

I have a few Question & need to confirm the following

    1) Is wpml support Arabic language? and how can i make a website with 2 languages English and Arabic (rtl) ?
    2) Is this a one time fee ?
    3) Is Multilingual Blog ($29 translate all wordpress constant in post or pages….? )
    4) please Tell me about wpml licence & it’s valide till …… to ?

    Thanks

    • 1) WPML fully supports Arabic and is also localized into Arabic.
      2) When you buy WPML, you get one year of support and upgrades. You can renew support and upgrades for 50% of the original cost in next years.
      3) The Blog version will translate all WordPress content. Please note that it will not include the String Translation module, which translates widget titles and other texts that don’t belong to posts.

      • How do I apply for the 50% reduction? My subscription was over about a half year ago and now I would like to extend mine…

        • I’m sorry, but the 50% price is only available while your account is still valid. We send out notifications explaining this 30 days and 3 days before the account expires. If you would like to receive additional downloads and support, you would need to buy again.

  2. Hi,

If we have a theme that has been designed specifically for our website, will the plugin work? Is there any way we can have a trial version to test it with the theme?

    Regards
    Arran

  3. Is it possible to purchase the CMS add-ons individually? I currently use WPML Blog edition on my personal/research blog and my theme does not use .mo files (and I use a couple plug-ins injecting text that also don’t), so the WPML String Translation add-on would be immensely useful.

I can see from my user page that the CMS features are individually downloadable. As I don’t need the management features of the CMS edition, and think $50 extra for the string translation is a bit excessive, being able to purchase the add-ons individually would be useful.

    • Sorry, but we only offer it as one package as ‘Multilingual CMS’. Since you already have the Blog account, you may upgrade for $50, which is the cost between the two account types.

  4. Is it possible to use your plugin in only finnish language so that different “languages” would mean different cities?

    – Instead of kohokohdat.fi/en it could be kohokohdat.fi/newyork

    • I’m not really sure what you mean to do. You can add custom languages and do whatever you want with them. Generally speaking, to organize content you should use taxonomy rather than languages.

    • WPML doesn’t come with Lao language predefined, but you can easily add it yourself. Go to WPML->Languages->Edit languages and add it there.

I’m not sure about themes from Artisteer. We’ve contacted them in the past but they haven’t replied much to us.

    • You should not include WPML with your theme. However, if you make the theme compatible with WPML, you are very welcome to recommend it to your clients. Then, you will receive a 30% affiliate commission for sales that go in through you.

    • I also received your other email a few minutes ago. We’re looking up your account details and will resend it to you. The most common causes of missing new-account emails is due to SPAM filters catching them. Have you checked your SPAM box?

  5. Is Modern Tribe’s Event Calendar Pro compatibile with WPML Pro? If not, what robust event calendar plugin is compatible? We are looking to purchase & move forward with development within a few days. Thanks

  6. Is Modern Tribe’s Event Calendar Pro compatibile with WPML Pro? If not, what robust event calendar plugin is compatible? We are looking to purchase & move forward with development within a few days. Thanks

    • I’m not sure, as we haven’t tested WPML with their work. If you are a client of Modern Tribe, can you ask them if they can work with us on compatibility? We are very interested. If they are too, we’ll have it reviewed and handle any issues that might come up.

  7. If I purchase the Multilingual Blog release of your software and then later on want the Multilingual CMS release can I upgrade for the difference in price? Or would I have to pay the full 79$?

  8. We have a client that needs us to build them a website in english, russian and spanish since they are targeting multiple countries for his customers. Since our team only handles the English part, would WPML be able to have all the Admin in English, even though we’d want all 3 languages incorporated into the website? Or would the admin also be in the other languages. Sorry if this is a dumb question. Thanks

    • WPML lets you choose the admin language. That language would be set for all admin pages in the site. If you ever want that, different users may set their own admin language to another language, but for you, it sounds like you just want everything in English for everyone – which is the default.

  9. Hello, I’m Cristina Lancioni from Italy and I’m the web developer of an European platform that give services to caregivers, people who help the elderly. The platform must be multilingual to all European countries. I see that WPML could be useful for us. But I’ve some questions… Thanks in advance for your friendly response.
    1) There isn’t one language: Slovakian… how we can include this?
    2) WPML support different site content, i.e. more and different posts, for each language that user select in web site?

    • 1. You can add custom languages to WPML. There is a language editing screen that lets you add languages, include their flags and enter names in all the other site languages.

      2. You will be able to enter content in different languages. That content may be independent per language or translations.

      3. I’m not sure about all these plugins. We test some plugins, but not all that you’ve listed here. Very soon we’ll have a plugins matrix page that shows what’s working for others. It should be available early next week. This will allow you to search and see what other clients have reported as compatible, as well as our own test results. I will write all about it in our blog.

In any case, if you buy WPML and have issues with compatibility, we will be very happy to work on these issues with the authors of the other plugins. We do that every day with great results. And, if there is any issue that makes you unhappy with WPML, you can get your money back with no hard feelings.

      I hope this helps.

      • Thanks.
Any news about the compatibility of these plugins list?… I didn’t find it in this site.
Another question: Could the plugin support 24 different languages at the same time (in both front-end and back-end)?
Thanks in advance for your friendly response.
        Cristina Lancioni.

  10. Hello, I have some questions before purchase your WPML plugin.

    1. Is WPML ready for Czech language? I mean backend (admin) of WPML and also frontend.

    2. Will plugin work with my custom theme based on Twentyeleven template?

    3. Does plugin support multilingual search using default search engine of WP?

    Thanks for your reply.

    Best wishes

    Michal

    • 1. Yes, you can certainly use WPML for Czech language. WPML will let you choose the default WordPress admin language and you can even let different users choose their own admin language.

      2. WPML works great with the default TwentyEleven theme. If your site is based on it, things should work fine. You might find our ‘custom multilingual themes’ guide useful, to check that your additions are correct for multilingual sites:
      http://wpml.org/documentation/support/creating-multilingual-wordpress-themes/

      3. Yes. WPML filters the standard WordPress search results, returning results in the current language. It also works great with more advanced searches via Relevanssi plugin:
      http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/relevanssi/

Let me know if you have any other questions.

  11. Can you confirm that your plugin will work without issues combined with other plugins?

Mainly the TinyMCE Advanced Editor plugin and the Advanced Custom Fields plugin.

I have tried using the qTranslate plugin but there are just too many conflicts with everything else and its not working properly.

If you can guarantee that WPML works im keen to buy it.

    • We are using TineMCE Advanced on our own site and it’s working fine for us. Things generally work OK with ACF, but there are some issues. As far as I know, Elliot is currently completely tied up with other ACF issues, working towards a major new release. This means that he may not be available to help with WPML related issues.

If it’s relevant for you, you might want to know that Types plugin, which we are responsible for, works completely smooth with WPML:
      http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/types/

If you buy WPML and you’re not happy, for whatever reason, you can always get your money back. We do our very best to make WPML compatible with everything we see, but not everything is in our hands.

  12. I have a client who needs a bilingual site, French and English. It is a blog and a site. She wants a mirror site where when you click on the English tab you see the exact same site as the French site except that the content is in English. She does her own translation.

Is your plugin right for this? If not, may I ask you to recommend a plugin, or if a plugin is needed?

    Thanks,
    Kay

    • What you’re describing sounds exactly like what you’ll get from WPML. Please note that WPML does not do automated translation. It’s a tool that lets you translate your content yourself. Is this what you are looking for?

      • Yes. She is doing her own translation.

She wants to have an English button appear in the top right-hand side of the French version of the site,, and a French button appear in the top right-hand side of the English version of the site, including the blog pages.

If the plugin can achieve that, then that is what we want.
        Thanks
        K.

        • Yes, this is how WPML normally works. We call that language link a ‘language switcher’. You can place it on your site as a widget (any widget zone), in the footer or in the menu. If you don’t mind writing a few lines of code, you can also place it anywhere else in the theme.

The language switcher will appear on all content. If translation is available, it will link to it. Otherwise, it will link to the homepage in the other language.

  13. Hello,

I plan to switch my webpage to WordPress. I have a multilanguage web page with 5 languages at the moment and I’m new to WordPress as well as to WPML. I’m looking for the best way to start and to structure the project. I will use the theme U-Design.

Does it matter what I install first?
How do I organize this project? Is there a way to create one folder for each language? If so, is this done within WordPress or WPML?

    thanks for your help

    Juergen

    • It doesn’t really matter if you install WPML first or later. Whenever you add WPML to your site, you will be able to start translating. Since you are new to WordPress and the U-Design theme, it might be easier to install just this first, get your site looking correctly and then install WPML.

Once you install WPML, you will see translation controls for posts and pages. WPML stores everything in the same database. You will see a new language control in the WordPress admin that lets you move from editing content in one language to another.

  14. I’m confused about what the difference is between the ‘blog’ version and the ‘CMS’ version. The descriptions are exactly the same.

I have WordPress installed on my host and need to translate it into French. Will this plugin do that? What version do I need to buy?

    • Actually, there is a list of features in our Buy page:
      http://wpml.org/purchase/

The main differences will be in WPML’s String Translation and Translation Management, which are only included in the CMS version. The String Translation module lets you translate texts that don’t belong to a specific page or post. This includes widgets, tagline and other texts in the WordPress admin. The Translation Management module makes it a lot easier to translate content when you have a team of translators.

  15. Hi, I’m interested in your plugin but I have a question about it. I use WordPress with custom post (with plugin: Custom Post Type UI) and custom fields (with plugin: Advance Custom Fields).

Problem: I’m trying an old version of your plugin but the custom fields are not synched between the languages. Notice that instead the “standard” Tag field is well synched.

    I explain this by steps:

1- create a new post (custom post type)
2- enter data in the custom fields and save the post
3- in WPML box I check “Duplicate” and duplicate the entire post
4- go in the translated post and click “Translate independatly”
5- in this way I have a perfect copy of the untranslated post (because I have about 90% of the custom fields that must to be the same between the language and in this way I will not re-enter the same data twice)
6- now if I have to modify some custom fields, it will NOT have effect in the translated post, and I have to re-enter the same modified data also for the translated language

Then the question is: This issue is fixed with the last version? Or is there another solution?

    Thanks

    • I’m not sure what version you’re testing and how it was supposed to work with WordPress 3.5 and ACF. We are using the CF sync feature ourselves extensively and it’s working fine on our sites.

What you are describing appears to be the correct workflow. After step (3), you should see the same values of custom fields in the WP editor in all languages. BUT, there’s an important point. There is different setting for custom field values. The ‘duplicate’ feature doesn’t override it. If the fields are set to ‘sync’, they should be synchronized. Otherwise they will not be copied.

You can see the settings for different custom fields at the bottom of the post editor, in the ‘multilingual content setup’ box.

  16. hi Amir, I’m testing WPML version 2.4 on WordPress 3.5.
Before I ask explanations on what you gently answer, I will ask you if WPML recent versions I solve the issue explained in the step (6).
    Thanks

  17. Hi,

I am working for a company who bought WPML a few month ago.
The developper who passed the order has left the company without giving us the subscription key…

Is it possible to retrieve it ?

    Thanks !

  18. I’m a web developer. I’m going to trial your product. However before I buy it. Is there any trial version?\

If I need to buy it, can you send me a quotation? I can’t buy it through my personal Credit Card.

    • I’m sorry, but we don’t have trial versions for WPML. If you buy it and are not completely satisfied, you can get your money back. We offer refunds up to 30 days from the purchase date, for whatever reason.

    • It is seldom to use private Credit Card to buy product for our university.
Would you please send me a quotation for purchasing CMS version WPML?

  19. Hi,
I’m going to buy WPML to use on a website I’m building and want to know if I can then use it on other two websites. Is there a limit of how many different websites I can use it on once I purchase it for $79?
And what happens with updates/etc once the client is on his own and I’m no longer involved? Do I need to warn him to stay subscribed for updates or else his site won’t work properly?
    Thanks!

    • You can use WPML on all your client sites. With your purchase, you get a year of free upgrades and support. You will be automatic updates in the WordPress admin for WPML, just like any other plugin. As long as your upgrade subscription is valid, your clients can upgrade from WordPress by themselves.

You will need to renew your account at the end of the year to keep getting upgrades. Renewals cost 50% of the original purchase price.

  20. Hello
i thinking to buy WPML , but before i do, i need to ask you if i can do all the job or need programer to do it , i mean is it easy for beginners ?

is there manuals how to translate all ?

    Thanks

  21. Hello
I am creating a multi language website form my client, WPMl fits in every aspect but the only question I have is about .html extension for pages and post.
I have a extension of .html to all my post and page, and I am using remove category plugin
Does WPML support .html extension to post and page. what will be the URL of my post and pages with WPML if my present URL are in the format given below.

    For Post
    http://www.base domain/postname.html

    For page
    http://www.base domain/pagename.html

    Thank you

    • I think that WPML might have trouble with this. Any plugin that modifies the rewrite rules has a good potential to conflict with WPML. WPML needs to modify rewrite rules to add language information. It does so by using WordPress filters. If other plugins also change the rewrite rules, there is a good change to cause conflicts and confuse either WPML or the other plugin.

The .html extension name should be fine, as it’s part of the WordPress permalink structure.
