  1. Hi,

What happens to updates after a year? WordPress is always updating. Will WPML still work in 5 years if I dont pay for more updates? Or am I locked into buying a yearly subscription?

    Many thanks

    • Something like that. If you don’t buy a yearly subscription, you cannot access downloads and support. Please mind that support has its own cost (like I’m sure you know with your clients). If you try to give unlimited support without revenue, it’s a problem. Upgrades and support really come together. New WordPress versions, new themes and other plugins and new issues to help with.

However, we are about to add a ‘lifetime’ account option for $195. This will allow you to receive support and upgrades without any additional payments ever. We are going to upgrade our system over the weekend and this option should be available on Monday.

      Does this help?

    • Yes that does help make it clearer. Thanks for your quick response aswell. I understand, but the site didnt make it clear. The lifetime option helps alot and has actulay swung it for me to potentially buy. Otherwise I was put off. Many thanks

  2. Hello WPML,

I was extremely happy to read you will be adding a “lifetime” account option!

This is a pre-sale question: I recently purchased the “Avada” theme, which states it is compatible with WPML. I am also using the Multi X-bar plug-in, which is widget compatible, and would like to know if it is possible to integrate the language selector with this plug-in?

    Thank-You in advance!

  3. Hi,

I’m using an older version of the plugin on my new website (2.3.4) and it doesn’t work as expected with the plugin advanced custom fields (4.2.2).

I have 5 different groups of custom fields for one page and only one is showing, if I activate the “Group of fields” translation then NOTHING works anymore for the ACF plugin.

If I upgrade my license, is it guaranteed that it will work ?

    Thanks !

    • I’m not sure about this. I know that we’ve made numerous changes, so to support ACF and repeating field groups. However, ACF is not in our hands and we cannot guarantee compatibility.

We are working with Elliot and fixing any issue that we find. If you buy a new account in WPML and use the current versions and still have problems we will do our best to resolve them. I’m sure that Elliot will be interested too.

If we cannot, or for any other reason, you can always get your money back.

    • Sorry, but these texts are translatable using WPML’s String Translation, which is part of the full Multilingual CMS package. You can buy the basic Multilingual Blog package and write PHP to translate these texts without the String Translation module, but it’s a bit more work.

    • Gujarati is not configured in WPML by default, but you can easily add it yourself. After you install WPML, go to WPML->Languages and click on ‘edit languages’. There, you can add any language that you like.

  4. I bought the 79$ WPML CMS last year, I wanted to renew my subscription and I just discovered that you are now offering a new PLAN at 195$ with Free Lifetime support and downloads. I am quite sure this was not available last year. If I already own the 79$ WPML CMS version, is there a possible UPGRADE to the Free Lifetime Version ? Or do I have to pay the full price 195$ ?

    Thanks

    • All true. It’s a new package, which didn’t exist last year. To move to that, log in to your existing account. At the right-side column, you will see a link to upgrade to the lifetime package. We ask for the difference in the price between the two packages, not the full price from zero.

  5. Hi, I can’t log into my account anymore. The username is: m.darmanin

Is there something wrong? I purchased WPML in July.

  6. We’re a non-profit and have the 2.6.3 CMS running, it was gifted to us last year. I was wanting to upgrade it, but was unable. We are willing to pay a renewal fee for the subscription. How can i go about that, an option did not show in my account? Thanks.

  7. I ordered my licence 2 days ago via Google Wallet and I still don’t have it. It’s a digital product. I mean, it shouldn’t take that much time to process. I want to know when I can expect to get it. I even sent you an email.

  8. Hi we need to have two languages on our site Mexican spanish and english. We already have the pages done for both dont need automatic translation. We just want the user to be able to switch between spanish and english and have both the menu and page change to the cprrect version. We are using the showycase theme. will this plugin work for us? If so Which version do we need to use? We want the user to view the site in the chose language. Thank You in advance for your help. We tried another plugin but it would not switch the pages correctly when selecting another language.

    • WPML does exactly what you are describing. It lets you maintain content in different languages, so that visitors can choose in what language they want to read.

I’m not familiar with the theme you are using. WPML and most themes work fine together. We can test WPML and the theme together with the theme author. If you buy WPML and have any sort of issues, we will help with it. In any case, if there are problems that we cannot resolve, or you are just not happy with WPML, you can always get your money back.

      Does this help?

  9. Hello,

We are using WPML and the language detection does not seem to be working. Here is a description of our set-up:

Home page has translations for all the desired langauges (en, dk, th and de).
I have WPML set to ‘Redirect visitors based on browser language only if translations exist’.
In the request header from my browser, it says ‘Accept-Language th’.
I have tried logging out, clearing my cache.
I have tried using a computer that has never been to the site.
But it always defaults to English(the default language set in the admin).

Is there something else we should be setting?

  10. Hey!

I loved this plugin but haven’t tried it yet.

I have a question that might let me decide to buy or not.

Is there any way that when I switch the language to switch the theme (a theme for each language)?

    • I think that using a completely different theme per language would be difficult to do. It’s possible, but would be a big hack and make things difficult for you.

Instead, I recommend to see if you can have different display using conditional code (per language). You can also load completely different CSS files, which can make your site look very different in different languages.

      Would that be an option?

    • You can use WPML with Persian language. WPML reads the .mo files that come with your theme and allows you to edit the translations directly in WordPress.

  11. Hi,

As a freelance developer creating websites for different clients, will one Multilingual CMS Lifetime work for multiple websites? Or will I need to purchase separate ones for each client? Thanks.

    • You only need to pay once and you can use it on as many sites as you like. Since you are buying a ‘lifetime’ account, you will not need to ever pay us any extra for updates or support.

  12. hi can purchase the blog or cms version first to try out and then pay for the difference to upgrade to the lifetime option after?

    thanks

    • I’m not sure if WordPress itself is translated to Albanian, but you can certainly use WPML to have Albanian language for your site.

  13. Hello, Amir
I’ve site on Russian language and I wanna start to translate it on English, German etc. But I doubted how best to do…
I want to do the following url structure with WPML: site.com (English version) site.com/ru (Russian version) site.com/de (German version) etc. Other words I want that English has become the main language. As you understand now, when I query the url of my site.com is loaded Russian version of the site, as the versions in other languages are not yet available.
I’ve more then 1000 articles on Russian language and I want to make them available on site.com/ru and maybe not even to translate it. And from that moment to start a blog in several languages with such a structure:
    site.com (English version)
    site.com/ru (Russian version)
    site.com/de (German version)
    ect
Please tell me, can I solve my problem with WPML and how I can do it?
    Waiting for your reply.

    • Sorry for the slow reply.

Yes, this is how WPML works. You should make English the site’s default language and it will be in the root URL. Then, Russian and German will be in virtual directories, like you listed.

I don’t know how you keep this content now, so I can’t tell how to migrate it. You can create content in each language separately or as translation for English.

Is this what you wanted to know?

        • When you use WPML, you will have several languages in your site. You can translate existing content (add translation to your English content) or write independent content in each language.

So, you can write Russian blog posts that don’t appear in English, or write Russian blog posts that are translations of English posts.

I don’t know how you save your Russian articles now, before you are using WPML. If you can give me a link to your existing site and explain how you save different languages, I will understand better.

          • “I don’t know how you save your Russian articles now, before you are using WPML. If you can give me a link to your existing site and explain how you save different languages, I will understand better.”

Here is the link to the website where I plan to use WPML – http://www.usualhouse.com
There are no other languages except Russian. I have no plans to translate the existing articles into other languages (only new articles I’ll add will translated into other languages ). But when I’ll purchase and install WPML I want to make them (existing russian articles) available at usualhouse.com/ru ,because, as I said earlier, I want to set English as default language.
For example, I’ve this article http://www.usualhouse.com/?p=21191 and many others… Can I remove this article to http://www.usualhouse.com/ru/?p=21191 without re-adding? Or its impossible?

Is it clear what I wanna know?

Its clear, but I am concerned about the issue I had above.

  14. I have suggested the theme creator certify his theme with you, but if he isn’t interested or doesn’t have time, how can I test out WPML to see if it works with my theme without running the risk of losing the cost of the plugin (if it isn’t compatible)? Also, we are a German company and our main site is in German. We want to add an English translation (and maybe others). That’s possible right? The original text doesn’t need to be in English right? I read something above that got me a little confused :-/

  15. Can’t buy the plugin. In every browser after choosing the cms package (the one in the middle) it gives me the same error – You have a subscription that includes the features of this subscription.

    Thanks
