    • We don’t have direct experience with that theme. I tried searching in our forum and didn’t find anything that matches. If the theme uses the WordPress API in a clean way, it should run fine with WPML. In most cases, our support people can help with basic compatibility problems. We’re very happy to work with theme authors when problems arise. And, if you buy WPML and get trouble that we cannot resolve, you can always get your money back.

      Does this help?

  1. Hi,

I have few questions before I purchase your plugin.

    1) Do you know if it works well with Visual Composer?
    http://codecanyon.net/item/visual-composer-for-wordpress/242431
I couldn’t find VC in compatible plugins list, but the plugin is very popular so maybe you have some experience.

    2) If I choose “Multilingual CMS” and want to upgrade in future to “Multilingual CMS Lifetime”, do I have to pay whole amount or is there any reduction for the upgrade?

    3) At the moment I use Qtranslate, I saw a plugin for migration to WPML. Is it working 100%?

    4) With Qtranslate, I have to display every page, even if I don’t have the text translated into the selected language. It display “unfortunately this page is available only in ….”. Is it possible with WPML to hide pages which are not translated and display them only in languages where it’s translated? Including menu items (show only items that have translations)?

Thank you very much in advance

    Jiri

    • 1. I think that WPML should work fine with Visual Composer. Since it works inside the page content, there should be no problems between the two plugins. Basically, VC creates shortcodes and renders them. It will work fine.

      2. You can buy the yearly account now and upgrade to lifetime when you decide. Then, you will need to pay the difference only.

      3. The qTranslate to WPML migration plugin works. Some sites use hard-coded constructs that will need manual handling. Our migration plugin will automatically process posts, taxonomy and their relationships. Usually, this covers 95% of the work. If you used qTranslate code in PHP, you will need to edit that PHP manually. Most likely, you will just need to remove the special qTranslate code and replace it with standard gettext or WordPress API. WPML doesn’t require custom coding to translate things.

      4. Yes, normally WPML will only display translated content. In WPML, different languages sit in different pages. WPML connects all these translated pages, but they are individual pages.

    • Great Amir, thank you very much for your response.
“WPML will only display translated content”
Does it work like that including menu items (only translated will show)?

  2. Hi

How is it that i did not receive any notification on renewal my subscription ? Now i cannot acces anymore to any downloads.

    Thanks to keep me informed.

    • That’s weird. Our system automatically sends notification renewals 30 days and 3 days before accounts expire. Any chance that these 2 emails are in your SPAM folder?

  3. Guten Tag,

  4. Hi,
We want to run a wp site, with woocommerce.

wpml looks realy good, but i have a small question, i havent been able to see if your module can helt with.

Wee need some categories / products enabled in one language, but not all others.
    Is this posible somehow ?

    • Sure. Only what you translate will appear in other languages. If you don’t translate a category or product, it will only appear in the default language and not in translation languages.

  5. Hi, I work for a non-profit and need support for WPML. We had a subscription last year, but it seems that I am no longer allowed to post on the forums for support. Help!

  6. I want to purchase WPML. I work with a lot of freelancers and independent developers. How can I be sure that my licensed version of WPML does not get used on other web sites/projects that I do not authorise?

    • When you activate WPML, you enter your key for automatic updates. This is a read-only field. So, you can activate WPML on all your client sites but they will not get your login information and cannot do this themselves on other sites.

  7. Hi there,

Since today, I’ve upgraded the website of my client to WPML v3.0.1 (previous v2.6). Unfortunately I’m getting error 404 when I’m visiting a product- page. Other pages, like cart and my account, works correctly in both languages. I’ve spend hours of searching for a fix, unfortunately I cannot find any solution.

I hope one of you guys could me out of this. Thanks!

    Regards,
    John

    • I suggest to start by resaving the permalink structure. This clears the rewrite cache from WordPress and often solves a lot. If this doesn’t help, check for slug translation. That’s the next source for recurring trouble. If not, can you start a thread in our support forum, under the WooCommerce section?
      http://wpml.org/forums/topic-tag/woocommerce/

      • Hi Amir,

Great news! I had to translate the /product/ slug too, to be able to see the products in different languages. Everything works ok now! Thanks for your help, have a great day.

        Regards,
        John

  8. Hi

How is it that i did not receive any notification on renewal my subscription ? Now i cannot acces anymore to any downloads.

    Thanks to keep me informed.

    • Our system sends renewal notifications 30 days and 3 days before your account expires. Any chance that these emails are in your SPAM folder?

After accounts expire, you can buy a new account or upgrade to a Lifetime account. A Lifetime upgrade costs $116 and gives you access to WPML without expiration.

  9. Not sure why my previous message got moderated. I want to display US prices alongside currently displayed Canadian prices. Would buying this plugin help with that. I am no developer or technical expert and do not have support for this website. Will I be able to do it myself. Please let me know.

    • Sorry about it. I missed your previous comments (and I see them now). You can use WooCommerce Multilingual to add more currencies to your WooCommerce site. Please note that it’s mainly intended for sites with several languages. The features we’ve included are really optimized for multilingual sites. We are going to add more support for limiting currencies and checkout options per country, but this is not related to languages, so it will go into a new WooCommerce extension.

If you don’t need multiple languages in the site, I don’t think that WooCommerce Multilingual is the best match for your site.

  10. Hi there,
a quick question, just to be sure:

My second year with WPML will start very soon, the renewal is $39 – the lifetime upgrade $116.
As I’m very short of money right now I renew for $39 and upgrade to lifetime within the next year for $77, right?
    Regards,
    Bernhard.

  11. Good day,

I came across your website and I liked the plugin you had created.
I have two websites that are under quite slow development in an early stage during windy nights. It’s good to start website filling having all necessary modules installed, but interesting fact that I need to buy this plugin to be able to start getting any benefit from it only after going life.
So, just wonder – do you have any trial? I’d like to get charged as soon as I launch my websites since I don’t have ETA date at the moment

    Thank you

    • Sorry, but we don’t have a trial version for WPML. You can add it to your site now, or at any time later. You can build everything in one language and when you’re happy, get WPML and add more languages.

  12. Hello this is a pre-sale question. I would like to have my blog be in other languages also.
Is it possible to have a different domain for different language for example I have example.com and example.it is it possible the content I post on example.com be also posted to .it also?

Another question is, if its possible to have instant redirection based on visitor. If the visitor is from Germany to instantly show the article in German? Without him having to click on a flag or anything.

One more question: Do I have to re-write or copy the translated article from google translate and paste the translation in wpml for every language? I have to do this every time I post an article or is this done automatically?

I checked for google and youtube for some answers but didnt find anything.

    Thanks in advance,
    Samantha

    • 1. Sure. You can map languages to different domains. These can be completely different top-level domains, or sub-domains.

      2. WPML’s language redirection works according to the visitor’s language preference, rather than the country. Usually, this is a lot more accurate. People normally set their browser’s language according to the language they prefer. The browser communicates this to the server and WPML gets this information. This way, if you get a French speaking visitor from Switzerland, your site will redirect to French. If you get a German speaker from Switzerland, he will get German content.

      3. WPML doesn’t automatically translate content and I suggest to carefully check if you really want to publish Google translation. Google clearly explains that they don’t want to see their machine translation as your site’s content. If’s perfectly legitimate to use Google Translation for websites, but don’t put it as your own content. If you want to use Google Translation, just add it as online translation.

      Does this help?

  13. Hello,

At risk of appearing stupid, I’ve been reading the wpml site for hours & still am not sure if it’s what I need or not 🙂

Anyway, do you have some sort of phone support for pre-sales questions or can I at least take my questions off site & communicate via private email?

    Thanks so much!

    • Hi Amir,

I understand due to the holidays, we’ll be a bit limited for a few days. re you in the US?

I have too many question to handle in the comments, but we could email if that’s okay. If so, just let me know your schedule. Thanks!

  14. Hi!
I am starting two projects for a customer, and they need a multisite+woocommerce so I will buy your product. However I need to know two simple things:
    – Is this a plugin or is the CMS itself? I mean, do I have to install first wordpress and then install WPML? Or just WPML from the start?
    – Can I use the WPML that I buy in both sites for the same customer?

    Thanks in advance!!

    • WPML is a WordPress plugin. You need to install WordPress and then WooCommerce and WPML (and a few WPML components).

You can use the same WPML account to build sites for all your clients.

I’m not familiar wiht Virtue theme. From our experience, well-coded themes work fine with WPML. If you have a problem, we should be able to resolve it.

      You can set language as:
      1) Different folders in the same domains
      2) Sub domains
      3) Completely different domains

All these are virtual constructs, which WPML implements in your site’s rewrite rules for you. You will only have one WordPress install for all languages.

  15. Two more questions,
    1. is this plugin compatible with Virtue Theme? I don’t see it in the list.
    2. Can all the languages work in the domain.com or do I have to create subdomains?

    Thanks again! 🙂

    • You can add Creole language to sites with WPML. Please note that WPML doesn’t translate your content. It allows you to write in different languages in the same WordPress site.

  16. Hello again,

Didn’t hear back in regards to having questions answered off-site, so hear are a few basic ones that I can ask here:

What are the benefits using wpml vs manually creating & utilizing a separate WP install in a directory/sub-folder?

How would wpml help structurally create a duplicate version of my site in a different language? I am not referring to post & page content, rather than navigation structure, tags, categories, widgets, plugins, etc.

How would wpml work with my SEO plugin (All in One SEO Pack)? I saw the video on the wpml site utilizing Yoast where meta data was being entered on an individual post, a feature that my SEO plugin also offers. So my question pertains more to the automatic functionality of the SEO plugins.

    Thanks!

    • The main benefit of using WPML, as compared to different sites per language, is the easy management. It’s a lot easier to author all content, in all languages, in one site. If you run separate sites, one per language, it’s basically the effort, multiplied. WPML includes a complete translation management module, which makes it very easy to handle translations for your content.

WPML works great with SEO plugins. You can use AIOSEOP. I suggest looking also at Yoast WP SEO, which has easier configuration for multilingual sites. It will work the same with AIOSEOP, but the later is missing a bit of support for correct XML sitemaps per language. Yoast SEO has it built-in.

      • Hi Amir,

Thanks for the reply. Yoast doesn’t play nice with Thesis, & that also came directly from Joost’s brother. I use Google xml Sitemap anyway.

        What about my 2nd question?

How would wpml help structurally create a duplicate version of my site in a different language? I am not referring to post & page content, rather than navigation structure, tags, categories, widgets, plugins, etc.

        Thanks!

        • The main benefit of Yoast SEO over AIOSEOP is the XML sitemap, per language. If this isn’t relevant for you than AIOSEOP will be fine with WPML.

WPML lets you translate the entire site’s content. This include posts, pages, tags, categories and menus. You don’t need to worry about widgets and plugins. It’s one site, in all languages, so there’s nothing to synchronize. WPML does hook to widget titles and the standard WP API calls, so widgets should display correctly in each of the site’s languages.

          • Thanks Amir!

I’ll need to give wpml a try so I can see for myself just how plugins & widgets are handled.

Just one more question… I always have the same concern when using a third party plugin… what happens to my site if/when the plugin author abandons the plugin? In this case, what db changes are made by wpml that are not reversed upon the plugins removal?

            Thanks again!! 🙂

            • Hello Amir,

Did you happen to see my last question posted on Dec 28th? In case you missed it, here it is again…

what db changes are made by wpml that are not reversed upon the plugins removal?”

              Thx

  17. Hi, I want to know if the “translated posts” are saved into different post entry, or where …
For example “transposh” save paragraph in another table.

    best regards !

  18. Hi
i have downloaded a free version of Retailer Responsive Theme v.1.7 which is for a client.
i need a eCommerce features such as categories and listing product with price range but client doesn’t need online payment and delivery or other stuff.
the website is suppose to be in English and Persian.
i enabled the WooCommerce Multilingual and it requires WPML, , WPML Translation Management, WPML String Translation and WPML Media.
i was wondering if i buy the Multilingual Blog would it fullfill my needs?
Please suggest any other solution regarding my issue.

    Thanks

    • For WooCommerce Multilingual, you need the full ‘CMS’ package, which costs $79. It includes all of WPML’s modules and will allow you to run this store in English and Persian. Persian is an RTL language. I suggest that you also verify that the Retailer theme displays correctly in RTL. WPML sets the language code and page direction, but the theme needs to come with an RTL CSS file.

  19. Hi,

I would like to know if the Directory theme from templatic.com is compatible with WPML as they claim on their page. ( http://templatic.com/app-themes/wp-directory-theme-faq )

I searched your English Support Page and I found out on a support post ( http://wpml.org/forums/topic/can-you-provide-help-for-templatic-booking-plug-in/ ) that you didn’t receive a response from them when you tried to contact them.

Much more they are not listed on your Theme Compatibility Page. ( http://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/ )

So please, could you tell me if I buy their theme and want to translate it using WPML, I will fall into the “deep sea” or not?

    Thank you very much.
    Panos

    • WPML is fully localized to Chinese and lets you add Chinese to your sites. If you are not seeing Chinese language, there may be a problem with WPML’s setup. Can you please open a support thread in our technical forum?
      http://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/

Upload an image of the admin screen where Chinese is missing, so that our support team can see what’s happening and help.

      Thanks!
