Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate my pages with the Advanced Translation Editor from English to Hebrew. I go to WPML > Translation Management, select the item to translate, and send it to translate automatically. My translator, who is a Collaborator added as Translator in WPML, takes the item to review. When I get to this screen (hidden link), I make all my changes, like this (hidden link).

Symptoms:
The content does not appear translated. The result is shown here: hidden link. No changes appear even if I publish the translation. However, if I edit the translation to review, the changes I wrote are still there. It seems like the editor in wpml.org does not send the changes to the plugin on my site. The problem is solved if I switch to the new version of the Advanced Translation Editor, but there Ctrl+Enter does not go to the next line, making it inefficient.

Questions:
Why are the changes not appearing after publishing the translation?

Hello,

Welcome to the WPML support forum. I will do my best to help you to resolve the issue.

Please try the following steps after a full site backup {mandatory} and check if there is any difference in the result.

1) Upgrade to the latest version of WPML (4.7.1 series). May you have to visit Plugins>>Add New>>Commercial tab and click on the *Check for updates* button to get the WPML automatic upgrade links of the latest version. This step will help us refresh the installer caches.
2) Clear all types of caches
3) Update the post having the issue in original language (to refresh the translation settings)
4) Update the translation
5) Increase the *MaxInputVars* of PHP settings to *10000*. Please check the following article for more details or contact your system admin/hosting provider for this purpose.

Hey Bigul,

I've done every single step, from 1 to 5, and the issue is still there.

What else can we do?

Hello,

Thank you for the updates. Please check the attached images. Now the Hebrew language is hidden for the visitors. So it will not be available in the frontend.

But as an admin user, we can view it by selecting the *Display hidden languages* option of Users>>Profile>>Hidden languages.

Also, hidden link is translated. But it is pending for review now. Please publish it and let us know you're getting the expected results or not. Refer to this article for more details - https://wpml.org/documentation/reviewers/how-to-work-as-a-reviewer/#how-to-review-translations

Hi Bigul,

I think there's some confusion here. I kindly ask you to have a look at this video for a better explanation, it's just 2 minutes and a half: hidden link

Thank you!

Hello,

Thank you for the details. I can see the issue now and checking with our team.

Just to make sure, you are not switching to the latest version because of the issue, because of the following reason? Please confirm.

I switch to the new version of the Advanced Translation Editor, but there Ctrl+Enter does not go to the next line, making it inefficient.

Hi Bigul,

In theory yes, that's the case. However, even if we could translate/review all the fields without having to touch the mouse, I think that my translator wouldn't use the new version because he says it feels more clunky and doesn't really like it 🙁

Thanks,

Hello,

Thank you for the updates. I am unsure how much backward compatibility the ATE editor will be able to achieve. Because the latest version includes a lot of improvements in functionality.

So one request. Can you please check the issue is reproducible in our sandbox site (a fresh installation, only WPML plugins are active with 2025 theme) - hidden link

Thanks, Bigul.

I'm trying to set up everything but I got stuck. I created a username "translator" with the password "translator", and I even assigned 2000 credits from my account to the site pink-gong.sandbox.otgs.work, but the site is not recognizing the credits, so I can't send any post to be translated: hidden link

How do I continue from here?

Hello,

Thank you for the updates. The actual translation credits will not be working in the Sandbox site because of the test environment. But I have connected a Dummy card now for testing (it will be a raw translation).

So please try to translate the post now and check if you can reproduce the issue or not.

Hey Bigul,

Thank you for that.

I confirm that I am able to reproduce the issue. With the previous version of the Advanced Translation Editor, the changes I make when I'm reviewing the post are not visible. Even if I publish the post the issue is there.

For example: hidden link

The title of the post should have a '2222' added at the end, and while it's visible if you edit the translation in the WPML editor, it is not in the published post.

I hope that helps 🙂

Thank you.
